Best thing I did when I first bought my Custom model 2500 was to have the dealer install the REV folding hard tonneau cover for $1100 and the 6" step rails for $700. They only charged me 100 bucks to install them both when I went to pick up my new truck. Best 100 bucks ever spent and I love that tonneau cover and those step rails. It isn't 100% water proof (resistant is the better word) but 99.9%. I love it!!

Tell me about it. I live in the Sierra Nevada mountain. The warm storm last week produced 10.93" of rain in 24 hours. We usually get snow. I just drove 300 miles back from our coast house pushing heavey rain and flood waters much of the way. My F350 is a mess. But, I'm glad we drove it instead of our S4 Audi.

Dude you made your life so difficult installing this, I work for a Chevy dealership and I do these day in and day out, the 4 clip holes get drilled first and install the clips, then use the metal templates to drill the 4 holes on each side, then grab your rails and install 2 T30's, 1 on each end to hold up the rail, then grab the other 4 bolts per each side and get them started with the 4 metal backings, once they're all started you tighten the last bolt next to the tailgate and the 1st near the beginning of the bed, then tighten the 4 remaining bolts in the middle area. I'm sorry bro, watching you do that you had my OCD in overdrive. 🤣🤣🤣

Sideswipe, could you confirm the correct order of the install. 1) Use the clips to install the two ends. 2) Once clips are installed (not 100% tight) then drill the 4 holes remaining and attach the bolt and metal backing bolts. 3) Once all 6 are attached and snug, then tighten the 2 end screws and then the 4 middle. Here is my question. What are the sliver spacers for? Do you use them on the 4 middle bolds to equal the clips spacing? Do the go between the cover rail and the attachment rail? I have no idea where they fit into the install. Thanks for all of your help.

I contacted GMC accessories asking where the install manual was. The instructions they emailed explain what the mystery parts are. The clip like parts are actually drill guides that fit into holes in the sheet metal box rails. Once you actually see the instructions its a pretty straight forward install. Why they don't put the instructions in the box or provide a link that actually works.......who knows. I can email anyone who wants the instructions

Watching this video confirms that you are not a mechanic or have an average mechanical fortitude to install a simple cover. I agree, if you don't know the directions anything is difficult. But your install made this much harder than what it is...when done properly. When properly installed....you don't end up with "Extra" parts. I have had very good experience with all the GM Accessories I have installed in my new Silverado. I just purchased this product and do thank you for showing "what not to do". Compliments to a beautiful truck, garage and family....but I don't agree with your "don't buy" justification. Buyer beware of this perspective.

I decided to have the dealer fo the install but apparently, my passenger side rail did come with the tensioner. GMC does not sell parts for the cover; you can’t buy the bolts or washers or tensioners. The dealer had to order a whole new cover then use the passenger side rail from that one to complete my install! It does look good though.
