Yeah that was one of those times of the year when you wear blaze orange like Keef did for grouse season and he just blended in the colors were so bright! lol
Planning to do this hike in a couple weeks - curious if the 3 campsites close to eachother on the far North end of Snowbank (near Half Burnt Island + Grub Lake) were actually there?
From what we heard from other hikers who have been there they are, just hard to find the entry from the trail. Which we also found odd since everything was so wonderfully cleared out! Most cleared out trail I may have ever been on lol
Do you carry any Bear Spray or any other deterrent like that ? Not just for Bears but, also Wolves, Mountain Lions, Coyotes, or it wouldn't be nice to piss off over a mama Racoon either. I would be scared out in places like that.
I actually don’t carry any kind of deterrent…animals generally are scared of humans. I’ve had bears walk right out in front of my on trail and as soon as they see me they turn and run as fast as they can! Never even seen signs of mountain lions, or cougars so I’m not too worried about them. Very rare to have a bad encounter with an animal.
I was at about 23 pounds starting off and Keef was a little more with camera equipment. We both had and extra 2-3 pounds of food since we hiked out a day early.
I soloed that loop last year, amazing trail with lots of good overlooks. Great video, it's getting me excited for my spring trip!
Thanks! Yeah there’s a lot more overlooks than you’d expect for the Boundary Waters!
That was some huge bear poop. Wolf poop too.
Scenery is really beautiful out there. Love those colors out there. Cool video and area.
Thanks! Yeah, the camera didn’t do justice on how big that pile really was! 🤣 Must’ve been a biggin roaming around out there!?
What a great loop trail. You got some colors too. Good stuff brotha. Cheers!
