The computer you were using has two things:The native OS you should use(What it came with, not windows), and a funny keyboard, especially the Enter Key.
It depends. Relay lifts are completly non Digital, when it comes to logic from 1980's to even 2010's, much of the lester and TVC are digital but they used "ASIC's" which are like special chips made specifically for controlling the lifts. Much of the lifts today like KONE or otis and so still use ASIC's as far as I know, custom designed chips. But some of the lifts probably like the modern TVC controlelr's and Lester almega II probably use a CPU, if any logic has a CPU its probably bare "C" code written to work with it, besides C is one of the lowest level of languages and you need to write in C for efficeny and more reliablity. If you want the best reliablity, ASIC based or even CPU's DO WORK, however companies like Lester or so just dont program them very well. Sometimes custom generics which don't even use Lester or so could be using a very high level lang like Python, now it doesn't sound as reliable when you think of python in its own handling a whole lift system. Don't get me wrong, modern stuff can be reliable if it's made reliable. But usually the cheap companies maybe are the ones who won't be bothered to do this.
We reprogrammed it using the serial port on the ILE Speech and indicator module. This module is separate to the logic and is compatible with ILE and Lester logic. It can be used with any type of logic including relay logic, but this will only work as a bodge. Bodge voices use direct circuit inputs, depending on the logic these inputs may not fit the voice messages exactly and often it will say random messages at the wrong moment and will say messages when passing floors. We put the voice into bodge mode temporarily to record the lift saying loads of things.
+Beno did you literally poke around at a serial console and watch the output or had found a special program for the voice module? Be t the newer ones are just USB like a home peripheral!
They could have stumbled upon old floppy disks or CD ROMs in the motor room kept with other documentation and got the communication working that way I guess?
Ben, where did you get the announcement? Who's computer is that? what program is it??? And i thought its the lifts own computer (logic) where you can set it! who were you with? This is something. This is funny. Probably one of your funniest videos.
Is it possible to make it say "This lift is overloaded, please lose some weight"?
No there's not enough eprom. It's literally just sound files no speech synthesizer
@@seanjuth unless you replace the files
@@iamtheoneandonly_ very hard to do that.

QuarioQuario54321 I don't get it, are you telling me I should only be using Mac? And what is wrong with the keyboard? It is French-Canadian.
Excellent stuff. Cool old MacBook too. I'm getting one like that from a mate.
The reprogrammed arrow resembles a Salient indicator.
Why did that thing at the end sound like a fire alarm?
Which programming language lifts use??

@@hariranormal5584IIRC, C is a medium level programming language, but i think a lot of the elevators are programmed in ASM
Is it your laptop or the one that is there
These videos r so cool

wow, what software program is that? does the controller have a usb connection or is it an old skool 9 pin serial port?

There is this really old and buggy program that sends the data.

I've got a copy of SerComms. I've got v1.2 and v1.3.
