You're a good person man. A lot of the times when I watch your stream/videos you say some inspirational shit. I really appreciate your honesty 'cause there's not a lot of it nowadays, I'm glad that you're making your way to top twitch streamers. I have about 100+ clips of your funny or inspirational or just interesting moments from twitch saved in my browser. I also appreciate the way you value things, it's something I that don't see a lot nowadays as well. I can go on and keep saying how much I appreciate your shit 'cause I'm fuckin' drunk, but hey, I do tho, thanks.

Did you not listen to what he said about playing a role on camera? if you would have the insight to see beyond bullshit you would realise alot more about people in general and not be so fast to judge someone trough the internett.. Mike21DaisuGaming is spot on imo..

    • @kayper22

Zeni it doesn't matter if he calls it a role, he's not ripping npc's. He's belittling a bunch of little kids looking for his acceptance, because they look up to him. The fact that he trys to disconnect manners face to face, and disregards the same people online is an issue.

You are the realest best dude on the site. The fact you are going bald sucks, but the way you handle it and being real about it are super inspiring. You have a strong mental attitude Zack. I see a lot of people on YT/twitch not being aware of who they are, trying to be someone else ect. - I think you need to know yourself and be secure of who you really are to be able to handle shit from the twitch mob. That is probably your strongest suit, you know who/where you are in life and people gravitate towards that and want that for themselves. At the same time, being a real human like you its like you are our friend in RL. Sounds fucked but its true. People feel like they really know you - and thats the single best compliment I can give anyone.

A very wise contribution of knowledge Zack, you're a genuine guy that wants the best for those around you and live a simple life while having fun, at the same time prefer to spend most of your time alone and if you feel the need to socialize you have that available for you, i'd like to think of it as a introverted extrovert. I'm just like you and i prefer to live my life the same way as you do.
When you don't feel the need to spend money or to show the world you're successful, then you're truly successful.

I've been binging all your stuff for awhile now (and by awhile I mean maybe like a month lmao) and this video hit me like a fucking train. The part about having IRL friends is so important and I think that some people really don't understand that. I know I sure didn't. Why have real friends when I have friends online on WoW or FFXIV or whatever... and then the isolation started to set in. I realized I was never leaving the house, much less my uncomfortable chair and that I had literally no IRL friends anymore which in a fucked up way just made me stay in more cause my only friends were online. When you're alone for so long you have a lot of time to think, and like you said people get depressed over it. It took me almost 5 years to understand why I was so distraught. I only really had myself to blame. So I decided to use that time to think to start thinking positively and working on my mental health and I've come so far in just 9 months. I'm fit again, I'm going out to places, and I have ONE IRL FRIEND!! Might not seem like much, but anything is better than sitting at my computer, staring at my toon on FFXIV in BiS, afk in the most populated spot on the server. To anybody that reads this and is in the same rut I was in, it'll get better, but only if you put in the work to making it better. Wallowing in your depression and anxiety, while comforting, will only make them worse. Take back control of your life, and become the person you want to be. Thank you Zack from a year ago for making this video.

if I was doing his "speech" lets say or even most of ytbers, there would be like 100 cuts in the vid this long. I'm actually impressed how natural this is. Rly noticable, since 90% ytbers cut their speech up so fkin much that they look like cyborgs or some shit, they don't give a fk, by so removing the real message, the communication with audience rly suffers. But when you are rly popular like "pewds" or smth, u can do it like every 5-10 words and noone cares. So, this is probably the reason I was hooked to the vid and felt the communication, gj asmon, u know ur shit bro. + respect for the effort

the only things that differ people is greed, ego and lack of resilience to bad stuff tbh. and i completely agree with what u said in the vid. you're a humble guy and i appreciate it. money changes people, it gets into their heads and their ego grows so much it tends to be unbearable. i'm actually really fucking proud of you bro. keep up the good work. you are the go to for people that want to start this kind of career in my opinion.

  • @Sweet_Reverb
    @Sweet_Reverb 7 років тому +3

Hey Zack, I really respect you man. I watch your stuff quite often, some of it makes me laugh, some of it makes me think. Depression from all kinds of content creation is a very serious issue. I'm an artist, and similar to making videos, I draw, and drawing is really just an extension of myself, what I feel, and as the artist, what I am. People come up and say you suck, and it does dig deep. Some people are polite, some people genuinely like your work, but most people dislike it. It's a harsh barrier to surpass, and all the negativity or over-positivity of art makes it tricky to gague yourself. I'm very lucky that I can take off the goggles and see when my art is good, and when it's not. I've drawn things where everyone says it's fantastic, but I see it's not. On the flipside I've drawn horrible, disproportionate things that people find amazing... So I guess I'm lucky there. It feels hopeless, really. It feels like you can't progress until you get fans, and it feels like it's pointless to progress when no one cares, especially, as you put essentially put it, you create for others to enjoy, not for yourself. Artists should create for themselves primarily, unless you're out for the consumer's money. I myself create for other people, not for myself, and certainly not for money, so it's hard when no one else is interested, you know?
Sorry if this is a little incomprehensible in parts, just came off of a bad night of drawing, saw this video on my sidebar and yeah, it's relatable. People might bash you, but never forget, no matter how you might feel, there's a lot of people you make happy. A lot of those people love you for your big WoW dick, but a lot of us also love you for the fact that, sure you play a character on stream, but in your discussion videos, you really are a person as well... Most content creators don't show the real side.
    Stay strong,
    Khris

I love this guy. loved his wow videos for a long time to. The only reason i monitized my videos before (made all videos private not that long ago) was because i felt bad to let my parents pay the bill for my medicine. not going to go into detail of why i take meds. its not ADHD or anything like that. its something more... lets just say. deadly. (not cancer.) i dont know why i felt so guilty for letting them pay it. but i just thought it might be hard for them. and i kept thinking about how easy they would have it if i didnt exist, (depression came with the package). now i just want to stream to have people to talk to in chat and stuff like that. dosnt happen to often but i still love to do it. im really tired all the time because of my body trying to get me better but i do it when i can. you are a huge inspiration to me. Excellent video, Zack. You hit on so many strong points. I think it's like anything else, if you're going into it with dollar signs in your eyes.. you're probably gonna fail. Those who are successful at this are more than likely those who are doing this because they enjoy it. Beyond that- obviously the same rules apply.. don't feed the trolls. Or better put; the sharks. There's decent people who comment and there's those who hide behind anonymity. Learn to distinguish who's who and don't take those hiding behind their online persona too seriously when they say mean things. Somebody hurt them and they're trying to make themselves feel better by hurting others.
Onto balding.. who cares right? It's natural AF, wasn't your personal decision right? Even if it was, that would be fine too. Judging people on their looks is shallow AF, anyone who does needs to grow up or just grow as a person in general. I loved this video, we need more of this. Or more people need to see this, one or the other. You seem like a genuinely good person, I'm so thankful I found your content when I did. I was actually healing an AV and someone in party said "Did anyone else notice Asmongold is in here?" and I was wondering who TF is that? So I found ya at Stonehearth Bunker and became a fan. The more I healed the more the bodies fell. That was your 3/11/17 Blizzard PvP and Esports video, I came in at 28 seconds and stuck with ya for the win.
I guess that's it for now. Just wanted to write enough to give the trolls something to talk shit about. INB4 "TF bro writing novels nobody cares bruh"

I recently did an essay over a story called the box man for my AP Lang class, it basically discussed the difference between solitude, the accepting of loneliness(basically how some people deal are alone), and trying to cope with loneliness and depression through superficial things, I think this has had a lot to do with the story. Anyways... real talk keep up the entertainment been watching you for years now you bring a smile everyday with your streams and awkward time schedule, i currently am living in Dubai.

I've watched you for a long time because I have been playing WoW since I could remember and I have grown up watching your personality on twitch and in videos and I always kinda thought you were toxic but still funny and cool but this video kind of helps me see your true personality and I think you're an amazing dude. Keep up the good work man and don't change for anyone. (unless you care about them enough)

I really enjoyed this video, I myself have no ambition to start UA-cam/Twitch but a few people around me do, and everytime i "hit" them with a truth bomb they get al cranky.
It's not that i dont support them, you just have to be reasonable in it, people like you, Soda, etc are 1 in xxxxx streamers.
I'll make sure they see this vid and hear it from a person they also watch and admire.
Keep up the good work Zack.

  • @jpa5038

Good video. I see twitch in the vein of a hobby just like I do video games. In my view, few people merit streaming being a career. And those that do, bring something unique to the table whether it be skill, entertainment or performance.
While everyone has full and open access to becoming a streamer, it's usually pretty apparent early on who is being driven by a sense of passion and who thinks it's an easy way to make a quick buck, and the latter group give up on it quickly when they realize it's not that quick and not that easy.
More content like this is fine with me.

Lot of great info here. Making a living online through streaming, gaming, and entertainment can seem a bit glamorous at times, but I think we all need to take a step back and understand just how many no view streams there are happening every day. Hobbies and skillsets don't always have to monetized, just enjoyed.
Just because people aren't watching what you do doesn't mean it isn't worth your time.

Zack, you're doing everyone a real service with this video. I couldn't agree more with your points. Thank you! Many will watch this and so far 170,000 people and many will feel better and good chance you're even saving a person's life that might be in deep depression. Having that personality as Asmongold and how you deal with people as Zack makes total sense as well.

Great video, after making content intensely for 1 year and after that going pretty weak on it lately i fully agree, isolation does a lot and can kill motivation, also you really have to love making content for it to be worth it, if you force it you're doomed already, ignoring hate comments is hard and even if you feel like you ignore them, sometimes you still remember those comments during the day, but just knowing that they don't know you except from just 1 video you made that doesn't fully represent you at all.

Excited to hear you talk about this stuff. Didn't even know about this channel but so glad I did because it's what I enjoy about the streams.
I think perfect examples of what you were talking as about here are the welfare wednesday/media Monday streams. I think those were great content breaks and morale boosts to avoid monotony.

  • @hquest
    @hquest 6 років тому +1

Damn that was deep. I see you guys, content creators, in the same way as other artists. Musicians, for instance. There are the ones who fill stadiums, and others who play on the subway entrances with the same passion but not even close “rewards”. Is any of them better or worse? Maybe. Maybe they just didn’t got the right traction, or just came late to the party.
I second your advice on not leaving your job to be a streamer. Be a streamer as your side gig, but have your way to keep food on the table in perhaps a more guaranteed way, and after you see your income shifting, you might make the move. But just don’t go blind by what you see: words (and images) can be very deceiving.
I found your videos earlier this 2018, and a great characteristic you have from others is that you are natural: you speak what’s in your mind, even if that makes it can be rated, but you say things from your mind, not just things your sponsors want you to say. And that is a great reason why we need more people like you, speaking out loud how the world, virtual or real, really looks like, not a fantasy world built by marketing and PR people pretending to make it always look great for them.
Kudos to you to put your mind out loud.
