I love this video! As a woman in my 60s, it's refreshing to see a woman who's not 22 demonstrating the products and techniques you use to look so fabulous. Thanks for your great content and incredible beauty. You also crack me up, so that's a nice bonus. Please keep doing what you're doing!

This video changed my life! I was wearing the SAME makeup as I did in my 20s, and I will be 60 next year! Black eyeliner and dark shadow UGH! This changed my life when I did a search for mature make up and found you and now I am hooked! Yes, it took twice as long to look like I was wearing half as much makeup but it looked amazing! I really felt like I was able to highlight my assets and downplay what was not necessary. Thank you!! You are such a great teacher!! And thank you also for now being my absolute favourite influencer!! You are a superstar!!! Gorgeous, fun, engaging, honest, and full of kindness towards your pets!! I adore you!! Thank you!!!!

I accidentally stumbled upon your video and decided to watch. Rarely have I seen beautiful "mature" women creating makeup videos until now. You are absolutely beautiful and seemingly so down to earth. I have subscribed and I'm really looking forward to viewing more of your videos. You are a prime example of 50 and fabulous! I'm weary of the videos created by younger makeup "gurus" who use only high dollar brands. I admit, most of my makeup falls under that category so it was refreshing to see a high dollar model using mostly low dollar brands and achieving a high dollar look. I was also impressed with the fact that you didn't have to use 6 eye shadows to achieve your look nor did you contour! So glad I've found you - you're a breath of fresh air! Keep up the great work. I'm a fan!!!

Kira, You might want to re-check your info on Loreal. Many years ago when I found out Loreal did animal testing I swore off any and all Loreal products and followed that up with with a very "strong" letter to them. Several years later I saw in the news in several different places that loreal made a statement that they no longer do any animal testing, apologized, and committed to absolutely no animal testing or products derived from any animal source. I waited a bit, examined their labels and did a little research, and that did seem to be the truth, so eventually I went back to using some of their products. I can't imagine that they would go backward on that knowing what a huge issue that is to so many people. If I am wrong or if you have found out something new, please share because I would definitely want to know that.

I'm 36 and just don't have the tight, poreless skin loads of younger ladies do. A lot of the tutorials I've been watching go full monty on the makeup, and I don't have time for that, either. I love how engaging your video is, talking to the camera like it's a human being projects the same feeling through to the viewer. You have a lot of the same "problem" issues I do, the dark circles and "spots". I was glad to find a mature face tutorial that I could actually use. Thanks!

Years ago, I started doing my eye makeup before my foundation and powder. Saves a lot of cleanup and redoing - from eyeshadow fallout and the occasional liner or mascara boo-boo. I really like what you're doing with your tutorials, and look forward to watching more of them. Cheers.

Beautiful! I worry about young women and teenagers these days. Thanks to UA-cam they think they can't leave the house without 2-3 thick layers of foundation, buckets of concealer, loads of powder "baked" on the face, heavy contouring & highlighting, liquid liner & false eyelashes...SLAVES to some false idea of beauty (and the makeup industry is LOVING it). Love you keeping it real, those makeup tools/brushes are as real as it gets, haha!

First time I watch your video. What I like the most is you are just sooo down to earth. You don't need nothing more than a $2 brush because you already count with the most valuable quality: acceptance. You have learned to accept what you have and what you won't have, no need to fake. Being humble and authentic is what it makes you beautiful!.

I am elated to report how this tutorial completely transformed my look from "wah!" to "fab!" in just one trial sitting after buying most of the products you recommended. (How do I post a before and after pic on here? ...) Very grateful too is my husband as I had scheduled a make-up session with my hair stylist and cancelled just a few days before my appointment (saving a few $$ scores points with the man every time!). I love how you relate to issues your audience has and deliver your information with such natural poise and overall simplicity. I look forward to tuning into your other Utube posts. Thanks for all the tips and representing some of women's most important self-improvement issues. Cheers! - Bella
BTW: I've been using the Boomstick product line for a couple of years and absolutely LOVE IT! And of course I will continue to do my easy 3min Boomstick Wow Look from time to time. However, my reason to upgrade from "natural mature beauty" to "super-natural mature beauty" is I wanted a upgrade to looking and feeling like a $BILLION$ bucks ... equatable to my 20s when I used to 'do-it-up' with various facial products following my very 1st make-over. Most of my life I have done mostly cheap and super simple "look lifts" with cheap make-up lines consisting of: eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush and lipstick - DONE! Completely bypassing the moisturizer, primer, concealer, foundation and setting powder. Now I'm ready to WOW mostly myself cuz I ain't getting any younger! Again, many thanks, sweet lady, and all the best to you always for sharing.

Beth, I second your advice. I've always used sunblock and worn wide-brimmed hats in the sun when possible. At 75, my fair, freckle-prone skin compares well with that of friends who are in their fifties. Eating well is also important, as what's inside affects our skin as much as what's outside.

21 is the age you need to start watching these; and applying collagen and a good moisturizer EVERY night i.e., Oil Of Olay (Total Effects is good) or ROC. Strivectin when you're 35 is a good idea. Time flies and you'll pat yourself on the back when you're 45 and the other ladies are asking you what in the world you do to stay so young-looking. ;-)

I have learned in my years of doing and teaching beauty that a lot of people use contouring and highlighting for the wrong reasons. I believe it's because they are told to contour and highlight: it shows the make up artist within. Contouring is only necessary to alter the face to give the imagination or illusion of a next to perfect shaped face and to recede prominent areas on the face. I'm very happy to see Madam Monique not take those steps just because. Honestly she doesn't need contouring. Sooooo Beautiful Monique!

So random, but for anyone looking for that orange highlight, I noticed that you have a Ben Nye LID on the pot, so you said it was Ben Nye, but the actual brand is Joe Blasco on the back, which is another theatrical makeup brand. We used to use that in photo shoots long time ago when I did makeup for those glamour shots type studios, haha. It really is good stuff though. Not daily for a whole face, but perfect how you have used it here!

I usually don't leave any comments on videos I look at and tutorials like this one but I honestly have to say, I really do love your old school unique style Monique on how to apply makeup, it is simple, can be cheap and it is easy (YAAAAYY)!!! Monique you don't go overboard on how and what to apply to your face (love it) but I have seen so many tutorials where the person is naming off a SHIT load of so many product in order to get a beautiful look and I am like "oh my hell"!! Monique you are awesome and just so amazing, please keep these videos coming!!
I at times look at tutorials like this one and so so many women have and apply WAY TOOOOO MANY products to their face and that is fine for them if they want to, it's like a form of artwork for them and they really do look completely AMAZING!! But for some people like myself are not going to buy a SHIT load worth of products that can be really costly, especially when I know the old school way is a lot less confusing and it won't cause me a headache when choosing or trying to select the correct shade or product for my face. Not everyone like myself are informed or have the knowledge base of "the makeup world. Monique I think old school is the most legit, fast, easy and real way to apply makeup because I was taught old school and plus back in the days the makeup was not what it is today and I see (just speaking for myself here) no wrong here but less chemical or product on your face, the less damage your skin will be!!!

Thank you for posting your video; it reignited a flame that sputtered out about 20 years ago and you inspired me to retrieve my lighted make-up mirror from a nearly forgotten spot and find a cozy corner to play in. I've had a lot of fun experimenting with the new generation of products. Your tips are much appreciated and your warm and light-hearted delivery really connects well with the viewer. I subscribed to your channel and looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

Wow!! Wut a great video for Mature women. I have to be honest its probably one of the best make up tutorials I've seen out of all UA-cam videos. You surpass some of the top beauty influencers. I hope you do more!! You're a beautiful woman.

It's so refreshing that you are one of few that I've seen that are truly so real and honest about yourself, us older woman, are hair and makeup and that you use tips that also involve a lot of the same brands that a lot of us normal people use... so it's very cool... thanks !!!

Where've you been hiding all this time?! I just saw you in my "recommended" list, and I'm so glad I did! I love your style, your personality, your preference for the simple. And I'd kill for your eyebrows! 😂
I'm 46, rarely wear makeup (applying makeup is actually uncomfortable and sometimes painful for me, so don't care much anymore, and hubby doesn't care either; yay for me! lol), but when I do, I don't want to try to look 20. Most makeup tutorial videos I find for "mature" women are done by girls under 30, so of course they're not dealing with the new issues we have. Finally, videos by someone right in my age range, who does a beautiful job, and makes a fun video to boot!
Oh, and I'm cheap, too. 😉

We must be from the old school when it comes to eyebrows. So even of the people on UA-cam almost have unibrows and that's not how I was taught. Good to see someone who knows what they're doing!

    • @michellegriff13
      @michellegriff13 6 років тому +7

Pam I have never seen Monique not look amazing with her makeup techniques....even when she's going as natural as possible.
What she understands and focuses on with brows is to accentuate what we already have and not trying to replicate the more "popular eyebrow trends" that so many others are doing and have been doing for years. The problem with following the trends is they focus on having naturally fuller brows like many middle eastern women are born with and it's easier to work with. Many of us don't have that because our natural color is much lighter in certain areas and very deceiving. We also wind up spending too much time on the brows for no reason because they are not meant to look like the others.
I'm 38 right now but I'm finding myself heading more towards the looks for mature faces because when my face begins maturing more noticeably I want to have already known the tricks and what to avoid. I feel like I've spent most of my makeup wearing life having the makeup stand out to get attention rather than making my features stand out from the makeup.

That's why I never got rid of my eye brows. In the 70's everyone was all oh you look like Brooke Shields (I wish) and I stayed with them. I never liked the idea of getting rid of them and frankly can't stand the tiny, thin drawn on ones I see. I pluck the odd stray that grows way out of line but that's it

I'm going to jump in here about hair color. I'm a color educator and I can't stress enough to not handle your color by yourself. If you want to go from tinted hair, there really are only two effective ways:
      1. Grow out hair to the point where you have at least 2-3" root area. Have your stylist do a very heavy foil highlight and lighten the tinted hair ONLY(not any of the new outgrowth) to as close to pale yellow (which is close to white) as possible. This will give you a canvas upon which she can then apply a grey toned hair color. Know this: very few stylists know how to formulate grey color. it's tricky! Most turn either blue-ish or lavender. Personally, I would stop women who have beautiful highlights and ask for their stylist's name. After you hear the same name 2-3 times, make a consultation appointment. Make sure if she suggests a highlight that you tell her you don't want your new growth touched. It will be a backward step, even though it won't exactly match the final results on the ends. You're looking for something to get you by, but your goal is to wear your natural color, so I can't stress enough, don't let anyone touch your roots. Also, if she charges a lot, she probably has a lot of experience and goes to extended education classes. it will be worth it.
      2. Grow out your hair and if your tinted or natural hair is light enough, purchase shampoo and conditioner that has pigment in it. Use those to shade the "incoming" grey/white hair so it blends with the rest.As soon as you get enough outgrowth to cut your hair into a stylish short hairstyle, just do it! You may have to a "detox" treatment to remove the temporary color from the color/shampoo, but it's not a big deal.
Lastly, DON'T touch your own hair or attempt any sort of fix. This is a tricky thing to do even for many stylists. Sorry to hijack this conversation, but these tips will prevent some possible major disasters. Once it's all grown out, if you have more grey than white, then you can have a GOOD stylists weave in some bright white pieces to remove the dullness steely grey can often cast, and it will also brighten up your eyes and complexion.
I enjoyed the video. Many thanks!

I'm amazed how much make up is applied on these tutorials (especially with younger UA-camrs), looks good on camera... walk outside outside it's a mask.
I was at Universal Studios and saw soo many women/girls walking around who'd obviously been watching YT make up tutorials, they all had white strips of highlighter & dark contouring all over, layers of foundation, cover up, concealer & whatever else. They all must of used the same stencil to spray on really dark, really thick eyebrows that didn't match their faces. I had to stop myself from being very rude by staring, some of them literally looked like clowns, my son even brought attention to it.
Even though this woman looks great, it's still a LOT of make up. No matter how good the make up is, it looks caked & mask like when you step outside. Am I the only woman who feels this way?

Lucretciela I don't like the cafe face look personally, but some women can wear heavier makeup & it looks nice on them. I think Monique's makeup is very becoming. I enjoy a nice, soft, pulled together look. I don't see the point to the "no makeup" makeup look. If i want my face to look bare, I moisturize and I'm done.

You are gorgeous. And your fave makeup trick is mine, too. I recently (in the last couple of years) have discovered what a profound difference tightlining the upper water line of my eyes makes. It adds a LOT of definition without being obvious. In fact, when I first started, my friends would comment on my eyes, but couldn't pinpoint what the difference was. That's a win-win in my book. Love your vids.
