I live in China and there are lots of fake racquets. I had a fake Head Speed MP for 20USD. It is so cheap I just had to buy it to see. I found the fake one is extremely head heavy. This makes sense as there are more materials in the head so unless you do a proper balance on the lower beam, you cannot get it head light. So this is the first sign of a fake. Others are well demo. In this video.
Thanks for the video, didn't know that counterfeit racquets exist. Perhaps you can make a compare to an original one like counterbalance them at the scale or test them on the court with Andrew and Chris
6:57 That font is actually from a different Pro Staff, it's the font from the Pro Staff Precision 103 (I don't know if that's the only one with that font, but it's the only one I've seen since it's the one I own)
Could you do a video about tips for stringing stiff strings (like poly), especially using a drop weight stringer it can be challenging. Thank you for your videos!
Important question please. Does the foam below the butt cap tip also apply to cheaper models? I got a cheaper Wilson model (Pro Staff Precision 100) and it passes every test except for the fact that it has some sort of transparent silicon inside the handle when I remove the butt cap. Any feedback would be highly appreciated! Thank you!!
Its actually pretty easy to identify fakes once it’s in your hands. One of the biggest giveaways is the weight. Fake racquet are poor quality and usually weigh much much less than the real ones. Also once you start hitting you can sense the fakes ones feel hollow and flimsy.
I’ve always used cheap tennis rackets as I just play a few times a year but looking to start playing a lot more. I love the Stealth look of the Wilson pro staff and had a feel recently but what’s the difference in the 97 and 103 ? Is it just the size off the face ?
I was gonna buy this used Roland Garros racquet from someone but I realise it's font is at the centre but the official website shows otherwise so here I am.
They used to say the hologram was the definitive test. I have rackets with and without holograms. Wilson says, “That’s normal. Not EVERY racket has a hologram.” WTF?
Fake rackets are still being made. Didn't know that. About 15 years ago I got a pair of Aero Drive on ebay and then the local stringer told me that they were fake because as soon as the string tension were applied on them, they apparently bent. Then I had to go through the whole process of arguing with the ebay seller for the refund. I lost money on the string jobs though.
I live in China. I’ve got 2 fake Wilson BLX Blade 98s. They feel great and I play with them all the time. Best rackets I’ve ever used. My guess is that the frame is genuine and produced in the same factory. You are definitely right about the butt caps coming loose right away. I had to glue them back on. Also some paint details were the big giveaway that the rackets aren’t genuine.
I actually bought the pro staff on wish and have been testing it out in March 2020. Biggest giveaway is of course the weight. The difference was around 50 gramm less on the counterfeit racquet compared to the real one. Not gonna lie I loved playing with the counterfeit since it was easier to use and I had way more fun than with the original. It's one of my back up racquet when I have elbow issue with the other racquets.
I have two tuxedo pro staff 97Ls purchased from the same specialty tennis store and they each have a slightly different color tone to them on the white parts. Nothing else to tell them apart and so I always suspected they were from a different factory. Also possible?
Hi tennisspin! I bought a Wilson ProStaff 97 V13 315gr, and the only thing that I have found odd is that the red/yellow next to Pro Staff are a little beat curved, have you ever seen one like that? Everything else is fine. Thank you!
Version 1.0 of the clash did not list the specs on the racquet for any of the models be it the 100, 100L, 98, or 107. I’ve owned the 100S, 98, and 108. The new all red V2.0 has the specs listed on the head.
I have a problem with my prostaff rf97 v13 everything is good in what he mentioned. Except for the words painted. It's faded. The name prostaff should be completely white right? In my case it's faded and now I'm bothered. I want to buy a new one.
Hey. Have you figured out if it's fake or not? It's the same thing with my pro staff 97 v13. Everything looks fine except the words pro staff is faded, but the font everything is fine. I want to weigh the racquet. If I can just weigh the it.
Hai, I would like to purchase a Head racquet 2024 Extreme or Boom from you. What is the selling price and will you able to deliver to Borneo, Malaysia?
I bought a Babolat Pure Aero and I just realized it's fake. It has everything: the paint, color, design, letters, specs, bar code, etc. However, it seems the bar code can't be easily faked. My barcode is not well-placed and it's sticking off. Other than that, it was so difficult to tell, so it's better to compare it next to an original one.
I used to get rackets from Dicks and Sports Authority and it wasn’t until my coach held my racket one day that I found out they weren’t the real thing. Like he knew as soon as he picked it up by the weight and material of the racket.
All the signs to check you gave requires a person to have already have the racket in person to check. At that point, do you think if you spot a fake, you will be able to return it to an aliexpress type site for your $$ back? It would be way more valueable if you give tips on how to spot fakes from details on a website. Otherwise, whats the point? U confirm its a fake, but cant get your $$ back? lmao
mattblvr1 is correct. Wilson's quality control is so bad the counterfeit ones are probably going to be closer to the intended specs than the real ones 😂🤣
@@gmr2gnr Maybe so, but not in my personal experience. I currently own 6 Babolat Pure Drive Pluses and they're only off 3 grams from the lightest one to the heaviest one. That's pretty good IMO!
@@Siloguy Yonex isn't accurate either. I had several DR98s. All were varying weights and balances. Just be sure it's made japan, doesn't mean QC is great.
Are fake rackets actually made of graphite, which would require either the fakers having their own autoclaves, or getting hairpins from a genuine manufacturer? Or are they completely made of different materials like fibreglass or platic coated aluminium?
I was searching UA-cam for fake Dunlop Australian Open Tennis Balls. Do you know of any? They come in a teal green can and not the usual Sky Blue and don't have Australian Open printed on the ball.
@@Gidoza I mean if you compare a Wilson counterfeit vs a real one you’ll actually see that they have some quality control but as a Head user I fully agree with you

it plays different .i played a fake wilson for 2 yrs and now after the vid i realized its a fake. there is some stuf fitted inside the buttcap that makes you feel the racket is nice but you dont get that solid feel of an original. Its not worth it.
A fake counterfeit, so, it’s a real legit one then? 😂😂😂. I mean, a counterfeit is fake. A real counterfeit, is... a counterfeit, but a fake counterfeit?!? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Simple way to check Wilson racquets, have a hit with it, if the paint starts chipping off then you know it’s genuine!
Isn't that the truth! Both my Clashes peel like an orange. Its discraceful. That "rubber" paint sucks.
lol and the counterfeit ones doesn't chip
I could fart on a racquet and the paint would chip off
Same with my blade 26
This makes me laugh every time I read it, so true.
The most important is how do these rackets play...Most players would not notice any different, with good strings.
I want a real counterfeit racket, not a fake one.

I got a v14 ps97. It has a hollow center and a layer of foam or silicon surrounding it after I open the buttcap. Is it authentic?
If you don’t want fakes, don’t buy from EBay. Use your head. Why would anyone sell a RF below price?
Many reasons . Maybe they got it as a gift and Wana get rid of it fast . Maybe they bought it but didn’t like it after a week
maybe it’s used but if it isn’t it most likely might be fake

A question for the pro staff 97 blackout. Is there a trademark symbol next to the wilson logo on the neck of the racquet?
If you want to ensure you're getting a fake counterfeit, just get it from the manufacturer...

Why can't Wilson just put a barcode on the racquet itself which can be scanned by customers to verify purchase 🤔

Sometimes they actually have the same frame because they are often made in china, then they put cheap items and paint on it.
