    Where do you find the ZFWCG? 25:28

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  Рік тому +1

      Hello,
      If you’re using msfs2020 you’ll find the CG in the weight and balance section of your flight planning screen. In real life we get this in the form of a “load sheet” which is prepared by the ground dispatcher which gives us our ZFW, CG, and THS trim. Using this info we can plan our V speeds and flaps.
      Hope this helps!

    • @waypointsaviation

      Good Question, when we do our performance calculations (Usually done before we push back from the gate), we take into consideration things such as ....
      1) Temperature (The hotter the temp the lower the air density, and this can have an effect on the Engine Performance)
      2) Wind Direction and Wind Speed (Too high wind speeds could be outside our window of safety)
      3) Airport Altitude (Again to ensure we're safe in terms of Density Altitude)
      4) Runway Length
      Lets say if the Temperatures we're too HOT like it usually gets during afternoons in Dubai (45c and higher) or we were at an airport thats quite high above sealevel (Low Air Density) or we we're taking off from a short runway... in these conditions we would turn off the PACKS to get more power from the engines. Similar to turning off the A/C in your car to get more power.
      Once we're airborne and safely climbing out we turn the PACKS back on (usually before reaching 10,000 Feet)
      Hope this helps! :)

    • @ehameham3816
      @ehameham3816 Рік тому +1

      @@waypointsaviation yes that helps! In my simming I will take that into account. Before I would always turn off the packs - but now I know when I have to (and when not). Appreciated again!!

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  Рік тому +1

      I use sim brief and I also have a paid subscription to Navigraph which gives me access to the charts, when I want to compile a OFP i use a pdf editor and just download and put all together in one pdf for my ease of reference.

    Have a question regarding your descent. Do you change the QNH, for the arrival airport, when you start descend or at transition altitude?

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  Рік тому

      Hi,
      Good Question, it depends on the Altitude you're descending to. For example, if I was cruising at 27000 (FL270) and I was cleared to FL170 and the Transition Altitude is 13000 then I wouldn't set the QNH, I'd just keep it at Standard (1013) cause I'll be stopping my descent at an Altitude that's still higher than transition, But if I was cleared to an altitude of 9000 Feet then I know I'll be leveling off at an altitude below transition so I'd set the QNH at the same time I start the descent. Hope this helps! :)
