What a mini masterpiece. I used to sing it as a 12 year old and still remember it note for note.

It's 1977 and I'm a "heroes"-era David Bowie fan and wooed by Punk. Somehow, I start dating the organ scholar at an English cathedral. I hear this one day when I join him for Evensong (I used to 'turn' for him when he was allowed to play). Imagine the musical stew that created. Almost 60 now and the hairs on my arms rise like springtime daisies whenever I hear this piece...

A lovely piece. I’ve been singing in an Episcopal cathedral choir for 15 years, with an English canon musician, and we sing other Wood pieces, but we never sang this until today (a socially-distanced quartet, no congregation, streaming service.) It speaks the musical language of its time, and does so beautifully.
