- I was already almost finished with this video about our baby preparations, before our little Annika was unexpectedly born in Kerala, India late February. Even though she's been here melting our hearts for almost a month now, I still wanted to share this video, because I was always terrified of giving birth. But all these activities helped calm my nerves and get comfortable with motherhood, even though I'm far away from my native Finland, where I at least know the parenting culture and healthcare system. The delivery didn't go as planned, as our baby was born in an emergency C-section just the day after I finished the nursery makeover and packing my hospital bag. But in the end, after all these preparations, I was confident everything would go well :)

Annika's close-up video showing her little face was just Heaven. I felt so calm inside me, seeing her. My blessings will be always with her. When she will understand the video, Annika will be proud of you. I will watch all her videos, so as I can see her growing in front of our eyes. Take Care and God Bless your wonderful family. By the way at what time she sleeps and keeps you guys awake? For my Son, he was awake mostly on the night, and we had to play with him throughout the night.
Just now saw the news clip that Finnish people tops happiness index in the world and India has a low one. Still you are happy in Kerala. This shows state of mind and living independently is happiness
My biggest reason for being happy in India is of course my husband and our family. And there are lots of good things especially about Kerala, which is resembles a country like Finland the most out of Indian states 😊 but the happiness index isn’t really about an individuals overall happiness, but how the state/govt is able to support people’s chances of being happy and making life easier

7:16 I’m glad you brought a car seat Johanna, they are so important as you are already aware ❤️. I was shocked when we went to Sri Lanka for the first time and the children in our family and others are in cars with no seat belts, car seats, climbing all over the place. It was so hard to get our son to realise when we were back in the UK that he had to sit in his booster seat with the seatbelt on and was not able to sit on his dads knee in the front of the car! x 🙈 Much love to all of you from the UK 🇬🇧 ❤️🤗 xXx
I get a heart attack when I see babies on scooters 🤣 a car seat was important to me, but we’re still figuring out how to attach ours. We cant find suitable instructions anywhere 😬 thankfully we dont go anywhere much!

you are soo lucky to have your mother-in-law during this stage of life, daddy is enjoying to assembly, take the witch covers of before painting, also get a painting stick, what you need is a puppy, after a year though
Yes they are a big help staying here with us! ❤️ I’d love a puppy but I don’t think we’re going to get pets in a long time to come. Only once we can permanently settle down 😊

In Kerala, Ayurvedic medicines are given before and after delivery to the mother. You are in Kerala, make use of it. Kottakkal is the best for ayurvedic medicines.

I really appreciate you trying out all the traditional treats by your sweet MIL as I never got any of those treats after my delivery and my digestion has been messed up since then... and my daughter didn’t believe in any herbal treatment during her delivery! So you make me really proud of believing in Ayurveda treatment.

Laddus should have fennel seeds, ajwain, edible raisin, almond and saffron

Traditionally in villages jaggery is added. Jaggery is known to b digestive, its great for Hb too. White sugar is never part of health food, esp in rural india. I m a haryanvi jaat too. The gesture of mkg laddoos for u is worth an appreciation.
We didnt use white sugar either, but a less processed form of it from our village - it's called 'khaand' in Haryana. It's not as pure as jaggery, but much better than the fully processed sugar 😊

I think it’s natural that all we people generalise things and especially other people! Believe me, Finns are quite introverted and quiet 😁 I’ve always felt a little bit different there, even though in India I can notice my Finnish-ness more.
