In the spring of 2023, our filmmaker Yevgeniy Romanov embarked on a captivating expedition to immortalize the enchanting beauty of the Ufa-Kaga highway. As he continued along the scenic road, his lens skillfully showcased the ever-changing landscape of the Southern Urals. The Ural Mountains loomed majestically on the horizon, their rugged peaks contrasting with the serene flatlands of Bashkortostan. Yevgeny's camera elegantly followed the road's twists and turns, taking viewers on a virtual drive through picturesque rural vistas, where the Basu River marked the beginning of a remarkable ascent.
One of the film's most gripping moments was the heart-pounding stretch known as the "Mother-in-law's Tongue." Yevgeniy's camera masterfully conveyed the road's ascent onto the Zilmerdak ridge, highlighting the almost full turn at the pass, which stands at a breathtaking 850 meters above sea level. The film continued its journey as it ventured south from Beloretsk city, winding along ancient mountain ridges and valleys of mountain rivers. The Agidel River's tranquil flow, flanked by a few quaint Bashkir villages, provided a serene contrast to the rugged beauty of the Ural region. The culmination of this extraordinary voyage was the historic village of Kaga, once home to the Demidovs' copper-smelting plant and now a treasured gem in the world of Southern Ural tourism, beautifully captured by Yevgeniy Romanov's lens.
