For me Howard dressing up as Sheldon was funny because of how well Howard was able to capture Sheldon's personality and mannerisms. There's only one Sheldon like him in the whole world so for someone else to be able to act just like him as apart of a costume is an amazing feat.
I definitely was able to relate to Sheldon when the apartment was broken into. Having lived through that myself when I was just 11, its a scary experience. It makes you feel violated and unsafe in your own home. I did feel bad for him in that episode. Especially when he immediately got robbed in Boseman, poor guy couldn't catch a break.
You were 11. Sheldon was supposedly an adult.

Sheldon is one of the most fascinating characters in tv history. He was funny, charming and likable…..yet also an ahole, selfish, childish, and occasionally EXTREMELY unlikable.
He was the breakout character…..yet in many ways also the worst character.
He had character development…..that would often be reset the very next episode.
He CONSTANTLY needed to get his way…..and often would at the cost of the show and other characters.
Basically, Sheldon is an anomaly

Any show like TBBT should be able to survive without an important character. The fact the network had no faith in the producers, writers or actors to continue the show once Jim decided to leaves speaks volumes on how bad it has become.

I think Penny is like a big sister to Sheldon. He can't live with her, can't live without her.
I think Sheldon and Penny had developed an amazing friendship and Penny is Sheldon's true friend 😍... She has been there for him many times and their moments are golden... I mean even though Sheldon's very faithful to Leonard, Dr. Hofstadter has been selfish and not considerate many many times 😭
What do you mean by “big sister”? Because he and the other nerds in the group are all older than Penelope. She’s a more well rounded character with tons of street smarts. If that’s what you mean, then I’d agree. They’re like family and anybody messing with Sheldon, she takes it personally. You saw it when the bully stole Sheldon’s online stuff and then his sword thingie. 😂 Can’t remember what it was, but she didn’t have to go with or beat up the bully. 🫶🏻😍

She's like a combination of his sister, mother, and Meemaw, while Leonard is like a combination of his brother, father, and Tam.
She was basically a surrogate for Missy since she stayed home in Texas.
It's incredible when you watch the original pilot just how different Sheldon was as a character.

The one time I truly felt sorry for Sheldon was when Amy dumped him before he could propose. But at least we got a better proposal later on.

Also Penny only agreed with Howard doing those things because well she was a BULLY back then much as she now just like Kurt and Georgie.
None of these compare to how poorly Sheldon treated Leonard. I can’t believe Leonard didn’t move out. He gives in way too often.

I think a large part of the point in Sheldon's character is that just because you didn't mean to do harm doesn't mean you didn't or that you shouldn't apologize. Sheldon is often unaware of how his actions affect others and isn't good at navigating social interactions, which leaves him frequently hurting those around him and being wildly inconsiderate and arrogant. There are times when he does this intentionally, but when he doesn't he often (not always) apologizes. His friends do a human job of navigating this- they're usually pretty quick to forgive and tolerate his many fopauxs, but there are times when, for all the many times he's hurt them (whether or not he intended to) he deserves to get a taste of his own medicine, if only to provide balance in the relationships.
Not gonna lie, all of the things on this list, don’t feel sorry for Sheldon. Sheldon doesn’t understand what he does or how he acts get on people’s nerves, but then when things annoy him it’s wrong. Double standard. Sheldon honestly deserves a lot of these things like this.
Last time I checked Sheldon doesn’t respect other people boundaries, is constantly rude and disrespectful to them, is a huge liar, hypocrite and and massive narcissist.

Sheldon was kind of a jerk, but he was never malicious with his actions. Sure, he wanted to get his way all the time, but his friends never tried to understand him and why he was like that, just treated it like a huge inconvenience. What they did to him in 'retaliation' was always very harsh and no one ever took the time to try and put themselves in his shoes for once. Even his own mother just thought he was weird. I know this series ended not even that long ago, but I don't know that the way he was treated would be tolerated now.

They cant even understand other friends not even Leonard Who suposed to be nice and understanding guy. I think only Amy understands him and sometimes Penny but not fully
Maybe because Sheldon never tried to explain himself. Also, nobody intends to be malicious, but they can still be bad people. And the group shouldn't have to tiptoe around Sheldon just because he's an arrogant, pompous, selfish narcissist. He even pretty much admitted once that he doesn't care about manners.

@@vetarlittorf1807 Sheldon tried to explain himself to the guys in his own way. He struggled with social intelligence and communication so he wasn’t able to explain it to them in ways they could understand. Every neurodivergent person on the planet knows what that’s like.
The one where he gets his bag stolen and him yelling “EXCUSE ME!!!” to the thief was funny. Plus the helium and the dream he had about the Morlocks and screamed.
His pain was a pleasure. Whether he was intentional or not there was no excuse for a lot of his ways.

Yeah, one person in the friend group can act intolerable and unbearable, and it can be seen as annoying by everyone else, but that doesn't mean they have to ruin that person's way of life at every opportunity.

I actually feel bad often. I know what it’s like to understand people. YES HE WAS A JERK AND 90% of this he deserved. Penny is the one who does it right and Amy. They tell him what he does is wrong without malice.

Wow I feel sympathize for Sheldon
One of my favorite scenes is 8, it felt so amazing he finally gets slapped in the face with his own contract but then Amy comes along and telling him to play dirty 🙄.
Lastly all of these thing. To me, he deserves it. I know of his downsides as someone who also have a hard time noticing other people emotions as well but the way he treats his friends especially Leonard is insane.

Honestly if you round up everything Sheldon suffered in the show, it isn't half as much as he deserved. He was always a huge jerk to everybody, who only thought only of himself and always put everyone down and thought that everyone only existed to make his life easy. Seriously, he may have been the protagonist of the show, but he was also the main villain, like Walter White in Breaking Bad!!!!

Hard to feel bad for Sheldon, he's not a great person and a terrible friend. He's selfish, rude, narcissistic, and just plain terrible. So anything that happens to him isn't that horrible because he treats others like garbage over and over.

Why are we condoning this character?
Not a single one of these makes me feel bad for Sheldon, he’s a jerk.
Everyone also complained about Sheldon and they all thought they were better than and above him but the things they all did and how they affected him in quite a number of ways compared to things that he did to them proves that they were all no better than him and in some ways worse.
If it weren't for Sheldon, there would be no show, Leonard would have died or gone to prison, Penny wouldn't have had her own place (mostly because of Leoanrd), Amy never would have found friends and married him etc.
Don't think we watched the same show. No one ever thought they were better than him EVER. The show wouldn't have been made if either Sheldon OR Leonard were not there.
Number 8 is pretty justified when Priya dissected Sheldon’s roommate agreement.

I absolutely hate Barry Kripke for the way he treated Sheldon. And I wish I will never have to deal with a bully colleague like him.
Also I did feel for Sheldon for all of these. His friends often didn't seem at all concerned about his mental wellbeing and just wanted to have fun at his expense. That could be said about the other characters as well though. I don't know if I am being oversensitive or if real life friends are actually like that.
But Sheldon dished it out as much as he got it. The Barry thing..I do agree was bad because it hurt Sheldon professionally, Mind you this is just a show for entertainment. Sheldon's character is a narcissist who cares about himself only and totally disregards other people's feelings. Thank god Amy came around !!!

There’s also another part where Sheldon isn’t invited to watch Leonard and Penny’s wedding live even though everyone else in the crew were invited. That’s just sad and definitely deserves a spot on this list.

Sheldon was a modern day Archie Bunker, who was oblivious of how what he did or said really affected people.
I think his friends were really friends but never tried to understand him. My biggest ick from the show is when Sheldon was sitting on the ground in the comic book store because of penny and Leonard fighting and Leonard basically was telling him to get over something traumatic.

I would've punched Howard after his prank. Also any such friends are toxic and add fuel to an already difficult flame. As a person on the spectrum, not having anyone for support while rubbing in their success makes life unbearable.
In real life no one would tolerate a prank as cruel as Howard's fake heart attack. Sometimes fiction makes us accept things which we wouldn't in reality.

I don't feel sorry for him at all, given how he behaved with those around him.
I came to sympathize him only after "Young Sheldon". In TBBT, he was a cartoonish and exaggerated portrayal of an autistic man. In YS, he was a real autistic child, and not the monster that the mother series made him out to be. The fact that his adult self (by the ending of YS) turned from impossible to mildly annoying helped a lot.
My mother often calls me "Sheldon Cooper" in a joking manner because I'm on the spectrum and I like things in a certain manner (ex. my library is alphabetised by last name, my CDs are organised by band name and alphabetized by album name, my DVDs are organised by genre, and I'm not a big fan of sudden change)

Sheldon is a complicated character to sympathize with. On one hand, he’s obviously obnoxious and rude, and any person with even the most patience would crack around him. On the other hand, since he can be oblivious to social cues or when he’s the butt of a joke, you can’t help but feel bad for him.
