Life is an intense sci-fi thriller about a team of scientists aboard the International Space Station whose mission of discovery turns to one of primal fear when they find a rapidly evolving life-form that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth.
This alien gave me more anxiety than any other alien from other movies. Smart, fast moving and physically adapting versatility
He's the epitome of Apex on his planet for a reason. 😂
Bro 100% it was the most horrific thing I've ever seen
@Winners Club His adapting ability is what made him scary, and this includes his style of choice for offensive hunting capability and stealth. I also wondered if there were more like him and how he would fare against Symbiotes like Venom and Carnage.
Dude the whole movie my heart was coming out of my chest and was there 2 Calvin's or just 1?
@@michaeldenton2251 where can I download the film
2:05 I like how Calvin (the alien) at the end of the chase for a moment bumps its tentacle and head against the glass as if it was pissed it didn't catch any of the humans, partially the guy behind the glass, who just kicked Calvin in the face during the chase.
There is also a moment earlier in the movie where the lab rat bites at it, and Calvin seems surprised for a second before it attacks the animal.
Creating subtle moments of emotion in such an inhuman thing made it feel more intelligent yet no less terrifying. The VFX team did a superb job on this creature.
Well what would you do if you were in Calvin's place? I mean Calvin is a life form from Mars and when Calvin met another intelligent life forms and they responded by harming Calvin. Obviously it was gonna respond to it. We were no more dangerous as Calvin sees us as dangerous
This is the best alien movie ever, the alien doesn’t kill them because hes evil, he does it to protect himself because he sees them as danger
Yes,every move they make to take him out, makes it more aggressive.
@D. Skywalker he got zapped because they were noticing that he’s slowly dying but he didn’t know that so when he wakes up he thinks they’re trying to kill him
@@Halilpasaryou do understand. Aliens have to eat. They would’ve died regardless.
Yes, alien want little conversation but angry people get hurt him with fire and electicity.
@d.skywalker181trying to kill them cause he sees them as a threat. Wouldn't you want to kill your kidnappers if you had the ability to?
What’s even creepier is the fact that Calvin barely makes a sound. The only sounds you hear him make are slapping and slippery tentacle sounds.
That what makes this movie good. It's realistic
I'm glad they didn't give it a growl or roar for horror sake. Its silent hunt and stare made it perfect
I wonder what a sequel would look like.
Ahh Yamete alien chan!
@@djmac8537 are they making a sequel??
As a biologist, I found this to be The Best alien every depicted in cinema.
Why? If you don't mind me asking
And are you biologists?
The thing doesn't have a warm place in your heart? Because it's pretty much the same lol
@@ctwishkeyprn2039 While The Thing is the very best on horror there are a multitude of cellular and molecular issues that would keep it from being real.

Lol. Just listen to the sound of Calvin hitting the door. There's not enough off-screen laughter 2:22
Also this rubber ducky noise 3:28
When I heard that noise, I started looking for a comment that talked about it.
*Berserk 2017 has entered the chat*
People who laugh at horror movies do so because they're too afraid to let themselves be invested in the movie. IE: they're scared.

Dude listening to the cartoon-y sound effect, then try to grow a sense of humour. It sounds like an anvil hitting a coyotes head
Everybody talking how evil Calvin is, but lookie here: they woke him up (he was non-violent back then) , put him back to sleep by mistake, which caused traumatic experience. Then they made him live again by shocking him with electricity. Plus, he is fast growing and hungry. Combine that with anger and constant harm conducted to him by humans, from forceful waking up, dorming, shocking, burning, locking out of ship in the space with no air, taking away food/water from the coolants, again shocking with defibrilator...
Also, travelling at that speed in a chamber with strong man through Earths orbit, fighting to eat and still failing is not a pleasant thing to live through.
No one said it was evil and his actions are dangerous, but that does mean anything
True. I think one of the filmmakers even supported this interpretation of Calvin, and it could explain why Gyllenhaal's character is still alive after his pod lands on Earth. Rewatching the film with that in mind, you'll notice that every time Calvin directly attacks a character, it's someone who's previously physically assaulted it in some way, however slight - Calvin was curious about the labrat until it bit Calvin and then Calvin immediately changed his attitude, the paraplegic scientist zapped it, Ryan Reynolds needs no explanation, and even the Japanese astronaut in this very clip kicked at Calvin. That having been said, Calvin is still TERRIFYINGLY prone to going for the throat at any physical slight against it, plus there's the film's implication that Mars might be as dead as it is because Calvin literally ate every other living thing there.
@@ecthox-1mork909 lol for a seconds you sounds like that guy that try to convince us that in karate kid johnny lawrence was the good guy while Daniel is the bad guy.

Scene City, This is fantastic! I subscribed because I love it!
Bullshit. His strength always pissed me off. You need a rigid structure in your body to exert force like that. That's why squids have suction cups.
Since his every cell can work individually it can generate more strength and power compared to just one it's like your each cell has its own muscle and brain at the same time.
It's like a alien stem cell@@priyanshu.sharma.0002
I love alien movies big time. Star Wars, Starship Troopers, Arrival, Independence Day, Alien, The Mist, A quiet place, Star Trek, The Outer Limits and many others. I can strongly think that other extraterrestrial life forms can surely exist and these movies and shows can give us ideas on how aliens might look like as the universe is a gigantic humongous place aliens may well look different everywhere just like different alien movies.
2:20 no way they used the default cartoon metal bang sound
Bro really added a cartoon *bonk* at 2:22
this movie gave me more anxiety than any other horror movies out there
This movie is about how some people can't or will not work together
Nothing beats Alien, Aliens, etc.
Hiroyuki looks like a samurai no matter what he does
2:21 unintentional cartoon comedy moment
It feels weird that Calvin and ours energy source is sun even he is alien
2:19 no way they use stock sound effects
I can't figure how Calvin just running around outside the ship? No air and Cold. Also how can you get through into the ship via engine exhaust and labs fire suppression. Enclosed, there are no gaps
Don't think lol
True. At the beginning of the movie they said the alien enters hibernation during cold temperatures. But it's not affected at all in the coldness of space. I call bs!
Suspension of belief with this stupid alien
This would be a great origins movie for Dagon in a second movie
This alien should never be able to be snuck up on each cell in his body has a eye
Calvin is basically an alien Doomsday.
1:35 dude knew Isaac Clark
Ok so I’m at the edge of my seat, and 2:21 made me fucking die because of the cartoon bonk sound
The only way to destroy this creature. Is too trap it in an indestructible container and send it to the sun?
Definitely but some electricity could finish the job. I would just froze it and send it to Mars.
Smart people are going be our demise. We still haven’t learned just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.
he shouldnt have poked him with that electroshokker.
At 2:04, what is Calvin pushing off of to start his momentum? That is not how space works.
I think one of its tentacle things was still attached to the dead dude

Where are it's eyes? How does it live without the ability to breathe? How is it able to live in space with tremendous cold?
Would love to see the predator and Calvin go at it 👀
Calvin all day. He would mop the floor with predator. I think a better matchup would be Calvin vs the Thing. Still have my money on Calvin though.
what predator
Damn we need part 2 of its take over of earth
I wont name my boy calvin ever
Good dam movie LIFE i hope they make part 2 : LIFE 2
They have to. I wanna know what happened after they crashed on earth.
What they should of done they should of kill Calvin in the first place if they not gonna make life 2 that's stupid

I thought I was clicking a Jon Snow video from that thumbnail 😂
I feel like his whole body should have violently tensed up when they defibbed him
The creature looks like something from one of the Halo games
The problem with this alien is that, he can only move and hunt this way bc of zero gravity. But on earths gravity he can’t move like that unless it’s in water. So meaning that it’s unlikely that this creature will do any harm to humans on earth when it lands. Calvin will eat everything in the ocean I assume?? But I doubt its race could get any larger so by adult hood you could easily bait it when it comes to feed in the ocean. An immediately kill it when you bring it to land. If Calvin starts giving babies then that’s the ocean done for. Unless you have your usual microscopic bacteria that Calvin isn’t adapted to a just die from it. Either way, we would have be safe from it on land and with gravity.
So would Calvin have fired off this quick if they hadn't fucked around with him with the tests
Omg the best movie ever

As a 'long-time' fan of the 'Alien' franchise I have to admit I'm totally in love with this film. For the first time I'm not afraid of the 'alien' creature and instead I'm rooting for 'Calvin'. He knew Calvin was on his leg I can’t believe people argue otherwise. We see him caressing his leg while talking about how he’s not evil, but he has to kill us, then he says “sorry” to them twice before passing away.
The significance of his leg paralysis means that is the reason he’s not screaming in pain while Calvin is feeding on him, but he absolutely knew it was there.
He probably developed some kind of sympathy for it or even felt guilty that he made it that angry, so he thought maybe it should survive and they should die.
Hugh seemed beyond stupid. And for him to say “Calvin doesn’t hate us but he has to kill us to survive” is like the dumbest crap of the whole movie. Like who cares if Calvin hates us or not? He might as well Smh
@@DS-br1wnWhile I do think he was stupid, the reason calvin started attacking humans is most likely because one of the first things the humans did was give it a shock (even if it was meant to wake it up, I still see it as self defense because it probably just wanted to eliminate all threats.

Hugh is a traitor and a coward. He failed to warn the crew that Calvin was attached to his body. This is in addition to Hugh playing around with Calvin like he was his buddy earlier.
Calvin stealthily attaches itself to Hugh's leg which he doesn't feel because of his disability
Nah he knew he rubbed his leg where Calvin was during that speech he gave.
@@kingsol4786 how would he know if he can't feel a thing?

He didn't let him on for being cute.

The fact that it can't be killed by conventional means that are available to the characters makes it more terrifying than the Xenomorphs in my opinion 💀
Which then leads me to wonder could Calvin beat a hive of xenos on his own, or do you think their acid blood would be enough to deter him?

Calvin definitely seems stronger than a Xenomorph, but the Xenomorph's design is just so much cooler and scarier looking.
@happycompy stronger? You're joking right? If it was an xenemorph it would have easily been able to break through that pod
This was very scary to watch.
Best Alien rip-off ever. In fact it's even better than some Alien sequels.
Definitely better than Alien 3 that's for sure. I think Calvin's design was pretty bland though.
Has Hiroyuki Sanada ever survived to the end of a space movie?
This film breaks Alien’s cardinal rule - don’t show the creature a lot - yet manages to be terrifying nonetheless
I remember watching this the first time it came out Ryans death was so disgusting i still watch this till this day it’s a really great movie 👍🏾 underrated tbh it deserves more attention
I love how they immediately lose their gun-weapon thing.
This scene is so scary like the way Calvin grows bigger throughout the movie
Lord knows if they ever do a sequel, I can't even imagine how big Calvin would be
3:35 Calvin go like "I'll be back for you later."
What turned me off is that there is no way a scientist is going to be separated from an alien organism with just a medical glove. If this were real, the organism would be studied remotely, in a capsule physically separate from the space station.
The movie (and book) “The Andromeda Strain” was MUCH more realistic. The examination station had a nuclear warhead that automatically detonated in case of a breach.
I really don’t like graphic horror, and it seems like modern horror movies are appealing to people who want to see every graphic, gory detail. It wasn’t enough to see (and hear!) the scientist’s hand being crushed, but the movie had to show a close-up of the crushed hand. The movie “Alien” had ONE seriously graphic scene, and that was all that was needed to create a sense of dread and horror.
Very true, but that (in my opinion) doesn’t take away from the movie, just because some scientists were dumb doesnt mean the whole movie is brought down with it. Also if the scientist’s weren’t dumb we wouldn’t have a storyline for this movie lol
But I understand your opinion :)
I think the glove situation is far more likey.
