Love your animations. If it wasn't for you I would have never found my love for Vulf Peck, Richard Tee, funk, and Pentecostal gospel. Thank you and I pray you're having a good life.
there is nothing in the world that inspires me more to make music or pick up new instruments than the members of vulfpeck. i literally started playing guitar and bass because of this band and now i h a v e to start playing the piano, fucg
I relate so much to this comment. Vulfpeck literally revived my taste for playing funky stuff, and also thanks to them I'm killing myself for not playing keys. (I play guitar and bass BTW)
Uncle Podger yes! they were the band that introduced me to all the good funk/jazz classics, forever changing and refining my musical taste, and getting me interested in actually playing music instead of just listening to it. honestly i don’t know where i’d be musically if i hadn’t discovered them and that thought makes me shudder. i’m so grateful for vulfpeck.

I liked that muted sound so much that I hacked up a mediocre imitation with my VSTi upright piano by using its filter function with a steep cutoff (24db/octave) at 1kHz and a fast envelope attack. It doesn't sound as nice but my jacket won't fit into my laptop. edit: layering in a bit of harp gets it closer by giving it more pluck.
@@TobyJBall Good pointer; yes I've grabbed all the LABS instruments and have nice things to say about nearly all of them. Woody's mute setup is a very different and unique sound compared to any of the felt or soft pianos I've heard. It's more like an auto-wah clav sound with an initial bite that transitions quickly into the heavily muted tone. That makes it more percussive and suited to rhythm figures like this.

Your interpretation and your execution is exactly what I do...That was really fun to watch! You’re excellent at explaining these things with no bs. Totally down for more! Thanks Woody!
Hey Woody! Thanks for this. I've been a big fan of Keith Jarrett's gospel solo playing and this had added a lot to my own playing. It really informs on what you're doing on Tee Time too - I wasn't getting the bass until this video. Thanks again!

Hey Doc, thanks for this. Thrilling to hear about Richard again. I ruined my roommate's copy of that album in college by playing it over and over and over and I still feel terrible about it. That was 1977.
This is fantastic. I've been looking for a breakdown of the late, great, piano legend Richard Tee's unique style for years - his band 'Stuff' is beyond phenomenal. Loving the content and the alternate Vulfpeck covers on this channel. Thanks muchly!
