The reason I got my locs was because of an African Diaspora class I took in college my senior year. It really made me develop such an appreciation for my hair and being proud of being a black man. I graduated and I was going into the Computer Science field. So what I wanted to do was prove that I can wear my natural hair and locs in corporate and be proud and be successful

After 4 months it was mature enough I could wash it whenever I want and unlike two strand, it won’t get super fuzzy and unmaintained looking. Two strand is fun tho, if/when I ever get tired of locs I’d grow my hair back out for two strand again.

When I cut my dreads off I feel I cut off negative energy . They can never be cleaned 100% and it’s like you carry everything you been through in your Locs . The ladies like them more but i love being able to wash my hair everyday if i want to and dry it in 5 min. Locs look cool but i don’t think i will ever go back

I dread to be humble and I dread to be patient. While it's not religious for me, I do burden myself with a certain sets of rules. Since hair is the trash can of the body, everything that you do is eventually represented in your Dreadlocks. Every lie you tell, every thing you do you will constantly carry with you. There is no absolution, unless you cut them off and begin again. As a result I'm extremely disinclined to lie to people or to rip them off, or even to chat on my taxes. The misdeeds weigh heavy on your head. And the type of life you lead will dictate the kind of dreadlocks you will grow. I've had my current set of Dreadlocks for 8 years and I had my previous set for 18 years. In addition to the physical weight of dreadlocks that you've had for 15+ years, people will often tire of always being so conspicuous and so memorable. I don't think most people with dreadlocks wear them for life... But that could just be my perception.
Did you mention bleaching your dreads ruins them, the first thing to go is the ends , they look extremely damaged and break off, so many people cut the ends off for a cleaner look, anyone that bleaches their hair will eventually have some hair loss.

Around the time he bleached his hair completely grey/white, I think that is when I noticed things started to go down hill. It started to get thin in many areas. After the first short look, I noticed several locs were combined together, now looking like free form. Then they got even shorter again. So in my opinion, I think a stylist or whoever did his maintenance messed up his hair with Dye and then it had to be cut off.

The reason for me is i never had hair before. Never let it grow. So I challenged myself and grew them. I just cut mines last August and still have them. Mines were almost shoulder length
