13:01 That's an 11 year old me right there. As a now 19 (almost 20) year old, I apologize for cutting in your shot XD. Despite my attempt to avoid getting in your way, I wasn't exactly the most observant person at the time
Its hard with so many people, everyone is going to be in someone's way at some point! I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I did seeing the 611 steaming along, for years I saw her on display and wondered what it would be like to see something so huge move under its own power. Still remember standing on the platform and feeling the unexpected wave of warmth as it passed the platform! Wish I could have got to the excursions this month but a lot has been happening at home and work thru October so I haven't had the chance.
@@matthewmiller6068 I had an absolute blast on that trip! I think that was my first time in Manassas since Train Day 2008(?) (which was the only time I had ever ridden a VRE train with a GP40-2c). I remember it very well, feeling the warmth, weight, and power from her that morning. I believe it was my first time seeing an active steam engine and it was an incredible experience. Video can't do it justice. I recently saw her at Strasburg. She couldn't go nearly as quickly as she did in 2015 (though apparently she was hitting 70mph in the 80s) on the old jointed rail up there but it was still very nice to see her again.
Excellent video! We were in the dome car last year and we absolutely could not see a thing because we were so far back. I am so glad they are changing that up this year was that Wick Mooreman at the controls!?
+Dustin Lehman (NCX) Thanks! I don't know who the engineer was, all I know is they did an amazing job, as did everyone. I'm hoping I can get out and take some trackside video this year, I was hoping for more chances but it turned out to be really difficult to get good video and ride the same day.
+Matthew Miller if it was Wick Mooreman, that was the CEO of Norfolk Southern at the time. He was definitely at the controls for one of the excursions i heard. I think it was this one.
Can you believe that's its been 4 years already since 611 returned to service my god time sure flies and changes in just 4 years

Dustin Lehman
That may very well make sense, I believe this was the first public excursion for 611 Saturday morning out of Manassas, VA.
