Personally, after watching all these how's it done vids I am convinced that with the tapes constantly rolling between takes even, George Martin captured the F add 9, the bass D AND a D chord variation by accident.

I am a big fan of the Beatles... The first time I heard the Beatles songs, I thought they were just what we call "three chord songs". But the more I hear the more difficult and complexed the chords and the way they played... The lads are genuinly fabalous...Thanks Mike you have opened my ears so clearly....

“Tomorrow Never Knows” is one of my favourites. What is his best? (Or, will we ever know?🤩). Sir Macca says he does not believe he knows a hit anymore . He “just writes the songs, and [he] can’t tell if it’s good or great...” Does Ringo even notice how cool his vernacular is, or is he a musical Yogi Berra?

WOW, I didn't know that so much thought went into an almost inconsequential thing as the opening chord of one of the most famous Beatles song, which we all take for granted or don't even notice.
John, George Harrison, Paul and, in his own right as the Beatles' producer, George Martin, were ABSOLUTE GENIUSES who remain UNPARALLELED in the entire history of music.

Delightful epiphany there. Also, I very much liked your commentary near the end, before playing it through, where you talked about their confidence and exuberance which can be seen in the movie. This is fantastic! I actually learned to play guitar back in the early 70's from The Compleat Beatles (yes, spelled that way) songbook. I play George's part using a Rickenbacker 360/12 which really gives it a full tone and use my Casino for John's part. Your videos are fantastic and I've learned a lot in filling in the small nuances and alternate chording. My older brother, who plays bass, and I used to jam all night playing Beatles songs. Great stuff!

I am so happy that I was old enough to hear and appreciate these songs as they were played on the radio for the first time. Since the Beatles put out so much music, none of us had to wait very long to hear the next brilliant new song. No band set the bar this high in innovative music at the time. I can't begin to tell anyone the overwhelming feeling these songs had on all of us when they were fresh and new. Beatle mania is an experience i have never felt since that time. Unbelievable!

I'm not a guitar player but I found this fascinating and love your analysis of this (and your performance). What's always been amazing to me about this song is how quickly The Beatles brought it all together. After producer Walter Shenson told John they needed a title song to go with the movie, he went home and wrote it overnight, finished it off with Paul the next day -- then with George and Ringo (and George Martin) who'd never heard the song before, they crafted the entire recording in about three hours of studio time. As Shenson said later: "Think about that -- I got a hit song, on demand! That's remarkable!"

Let's not forget the chord is multi tracked and the ringing last piano chord increases in amplitude and it is sustained. Total tracks were 6. 4 on one recorded mixed down to stereo and George M. Looped his piano Chord increased the gain and let it fade out. Had The Beatles not done anything else in their careers THAT damn CHORD would be the Holly Grail of perfect R&R

Funny thing, when I was growing up the first beatle song I heard was entitled (I should have known better) I loved it soooo much. It was my favorite song. As I got older, I always thought I was more of a Paul McCartney fan if asked. Then one day when researching John lennons death I found out he wrote that song, I was crushed to find out the man who actually was the reason I loved the Beatles was Now dead. I was always a john Lennon fan more then Paul and hadn't known it.
