- Since the dawn of Trading Card Games, Yu-Gi-Oh players have been subjected to the same question... "Do you even read your cards?"
Today we'll find out once and for all, as Johnny attempts to identify what might be wrong with these commonly (or not so commonly) seen Yu-Gi-Oh cards!

Find out more about the many, many, *many* errata’s of Necrovalley here!: bit.ly/4cZtiI3
"Electrum" is a localization name change, his Japanese name is "Elixirer" which is in reference to alchemy (a recurring theme through GX, particularly season 1) and so that's why he's at his core meant to be the 4 classical element HERO monsters. The exact term "Electrum" is an alloy of gold and silver which keeps a loose connection to the Philosopher's Stone and alchemy but in a more roundabout way.
That Gravekeeper guess sounds like one of someone who only played modern Yu-Gi-Oh!. Back in the day Field Spells affected everyone the same was like kinda their whole deal? I still find it weird that these days they are just continuous spells with their own zone.
Yeah that's something I really don't like about modern field spell, they are just continuous spell now
I think I started playing the same year Necrovalley released but my memory from these years is playground Yu-Gi-Oh, negating spells with MST and not knowing what chain links are etc. Necrovalley was most likely "bad" in my eyes because it didn't destroy anything or have 1900+ atk for a normal summon 😂
- Johnny
That's so true. The only thing that really makes a field spell a field spell is flavor, as well as it being searched in ways that continuous spells cannot be (and vise versa), while only getting one per side of field rather than up to 5.
The Crush Card Virus fake has a typo on it that says "look at your opponent's HAD...". I thought it was a cheeky switch but even the faker didn't catch the change.
The typo wasn’t noticed by us, but I don’t think a change like that would be in the spirit of the game to count as fake anyway. I try to keep changes interesting and fun to watch 🙂

The way you can know that Electrum is 10 star and that he returns banished cards is because he was involved in a Gustav Max ftk.
My favorite deck 😅
- Johnny
look at your opponent's had
4:20 Exchange of the Spirit was also limited on release and then pretty swiftly banned a format later. Playground Yu-Gi-Oh staple for some of us stateside who were the right combination of young enough and able to scrape together enough spare change to be able to buy a copy of the Shonen Jump magazine that it came in from the Scholastic Book Fair!
I thought that Gravekeeper monsters were uneffected by Necrovalley. But that effect probably was printed on all Gravekeeper monstercards
You're thinking of Gravekeepers Heretic. A Towers while Necrovalley is on the field, which makes it immune to the ATK boost, so it's just a guy with I think 1900 ATK.
Necrovalley was a rough one.
Taylor have such a beautiful nose
I swear Necrovalley said cards cannot be banished period. Not limited to only the graveyard.
They errataed it like 999 times lol
The intention behind Necrovalley's floodgate was always to effectively lockdown the graveyard specifically, hence the namesake of the archetype it directly supports. Therefore there's no need for it to also stop cards from say the field or deck to be banished, as that would just be overkill mechanically, and have nothing to do with its flavor.
Anime bubble man only needed an empty feild to draw 2. He was a pot of greed with a body on the first turn.
Good catch that the anti-banish effect on Necrovalley is there to stop non-effect banishes like for the summoning of Chaos monsters.
I caught the errors on Electrum the wrong way around. First I saw that he was missing making himself Earth and then saw the wrong materials list lol.
Was absolutely certain there was something wrong on the left side of Sixth Sense's art but didn't even realise the die until Johnny pointed it out. Very subtle edit.
You know what else isn't a real card?
heavy storm.
Nah using Necrovalley is just cheating, there's like 1000 erratas with that card.
I felt that way about Crush Card Virus and Necrovalley because I only remember the original texts 😅
- Johnny
i cant believe i noticed the art but not the effect of sixth sense
He got both of us 😂
- Johnny
I knew what was wrong with Electrum because I just watched the FbS video where they tried to guess fusion materials for it.
I don't know of Sixth Sense was the *last* card to be limited on release. But it certainly wasn't the first. At the very least, there was Gorz before him. Temple of the Kings might have been banned on release by then, too.
I thought the "Opponent's had" was intentional. lol
I remember other GK cards being able to play through the floodgate effect. Was bypassing necrovalley printed on the other cards?
Yeah, being unaffected by necrovalley was explicitly written on various gravekeeper cards, such as their monster revival card, and one of their early "boss" monsters.
for necrovalley the change was the "graveyard" to "gy". i don't know if that count as fake or not.
Yugioh but the duel is only quick effects?
Necrovalley is errata hard mode.
