The only way I'd go to a hospital these days is if I'm unconscious and I won't be able to refuse.

Interesting. Oddly enough, it would appear that should you work for the NHS you and your close relatives will have priority. Doesn't seem fair that to me.

Personally and as someone who worked briefly at a very big NHS Hospital we are truely blessed with some incredible staff in our hospital,s . And even in the short time I was there it was an eye opener into life and most of all into human frailty.

I had an idea for Mr. Belfield but I'm not sure he'd even consider it. I know of at least one person who watches his channel and this one, who has had repeated difficulty getting a ride to the hospital for physical therapy. I believe this man is confined to a wheelchair, so a vehicle with a lift would be required.
My idea was for a call out and Community Page "Bulletin Board" called "Alex's Angels," where Alex could use a part of his weekly phone in time, to put out a call for an "Angel" to help a neighbor in need. The man needing a ride from his home nearby to Gateshead for example.
With close to 400,000 subscribers, how hard would it be to find someone who either has a wheelchair transport van, or knows someone who does? Putting people together who can help other people, like Andy helped this couple, by calling out this hospital for keeping relatives on hold!

@P Boxxer I know that this man has complained. Repeatedly, but it's gotten him nowhere. There is a big deficit and people who should be getting services, like the homebound confined to wheelchairs, most often are not. That's where Community volunteers could perform a vital service!

@P Boxxer Yes, but you have outlined the problem right there. The medical professionals seem to have adopted that attitude that if services are "free," what do people expect? That is incredibly arrogant and ludicrous. I haven't much use for conventional medicine anyway, but to deny a man in a wheelchair the transportation he needs for his therapy? That is positively criminal!

@P Boxxer He's quite on the ball, so I'm sure he's contacted anyone he thought may help. I don't know that he has any family. He's mentioned a mate or two, but I believe his family is all gone.

@P Boxxer I remember Andy talking about that. I think that this is a different fellow, since Andy knew that I helped him with an issue he had unrelated to Andy' s channel. I am a straight shooter - I say what I mean and mean what I say, but that doesn't mean that everyone else is the same. I see your point about taking things with a grain of salt. I'm coming along and my Shannon heads back to the Bay tomorrow. :(

Pinderfields is one of the worst hospitals, your lucky if you get any sense out of anyone if you turn up there in person, and certainly won't after 5pm, you can go inside, wonder around, no security anywhere!

I remember before the covid when they had the homeless guy going in and drinking all the hand sanitiser they left out, so rather than tighten up the security they stopped leaving it out.

Pinderfields are often useless around the edges, been that way for years. If you're seriously ill they're great, but if you're an outpatient or trying to find out about a patient they're a bit hapless and error-prone.
