Pappa needs a brand new camera and lens (don't tell the missus).
Here we see what's required and what we have to order.
Stay tuned for the next episode where we dig in and get our hands dirty.

If we’re watching a clip with the title “De-modding a classic Part 1 “ then we may be the exceptions to a short attention span…
Thanks for the video . I have a JCM 800 and enjoyed seeing how similar / how different it is from this classic
    Thanks

You and Lyle are my go-to for amp videos these days. I'm just a hobbyist with just a few personal projects but I've been watching Uncle Doug for probably 4 years and discovered you and Lyle more recently. Love seeing the diag and repair on these 🍻

You asked. I do like your new format of diagnosis then the repair. It is not that I find you boring, it is just that I can pay much more attention to something that is reasonable in length. Anything over 30 or 40 minutes and I get sleepy.

I've got exactly the same amp, only three years younger (they were still made with this exterior for Scandinavian market in 1982). I played it about 15 years and then decided I did not like my sound. I first converted it to Superbass with Metroamp turret board, then Superlead and now it has cascaded preamp, Mullard mustard caps + a few other useful mods and it sounds awesome. Also had to replace the OT to Marstran because the original had no 16 ohm output. I couldn't be happier.

Did quite a few un-modding of these and even more plexi type amps. So MANY amps with mods, so FEW with GOOD mods that people still want to keep modded!

The great note pad shortage of 1989! Fucking funny. Can’t wait to see how she turns out. I love the old Marshall head cosmetics.

Not to mention that with their noted readings, the amp would have been running at about 35% dissipation.

Sweet! I have a 1976 JMP 2203 that was modded when I bought it, as well... had a tech here in LA de-mod it for me and it sounds KILLER now. And to my surprise is REALLY versatile!
I'm surprised how not modded it looks on the board considering the hack job to the back panel. Really looking forward to seeing the restoration!

I think a lot of hackers are scared of the PCB because that would mean they'd actually need to follow the circuit and read resistor codes. LOL!

Fans save power tubes, I personally like a fan on my tubes.

If you need to drill 2 holes to mount a fan on a 2203 to keep it from killing output tubes, you need a better tech.

New mic is a bit better indeed. But the previous one was never an issue for me to begin with. I come for the content and as long as I can understand the jokes, I'm good.

Yeah, we don't sweat the small stuff here either. I will be upgrading the amp mic testing gear soon though. Whether you like it or not! Lol!

The 30 mn x 2 format is ok for me. But I need to practice the Aussie accent, I still don’t get everything 🤣. French people are really bad at langages 🤣🤣
