I didn't want to make video content, and I hated making the first video… and then it got surprisingly fun! The UA-cam community feels like how the blogging community used to be.
I used to watch you all the time and with the skills you taught me I was doing 15k a week on my website. Now I am happy to have a hundred bucks a week. I see you have 200k subscribers and only a couple thousand views per video and it just validates what I am experiencing. Fortunately when times were good I invested well and don’t worry about sales online anymore. I am impressed that you continue to press on even after your partner bailed on you. It’s a changing world
My other blog went from 75,000 page views a month to zero, literally, thrown off Google. This business model is just not viable and these other strategies are bandaids, IMHO. Going to be tough to make any real money going forward, time invested versus return not worth the trouble.
@@fishingladies8663 And yet, my blog, has gone from nothing 18 months ago to over 260K views in the last 28 days... and it's still growing. The business model isn't dead at all.
I have a problem. My website sank because I did 100% ai content. I wasn't getting impression nor organic traffic. How do I resuscitate it to get organic traffic?
So did you upload the video and then share the links to friends and family or did you just upload the videos and let youtube push the videos to people?
Interesting video. A blog post getting 10,000 page views should generate $250 or so, based on your $30/1000 premise. That is pretty much what I see. Does a video getting 10,000 views generate that income? Certainly not with ads, but affiliate and related sales? Personally, I find that my blog drives UA-cam views as opposed to the other way around. Your conversion rates on UA-cam videos are better than mine. I do agree that a mix of both is the best approach.
I tend to achieve about $10 per 1,000 views on UA-cam. That's roughly half ad revenue and half affiliate on a heavily product-focused niche. I used to do $70 per 1,000 (and $100+ in November/December) on the website of the same niche so blog views are definitely more valuable in that direct way. But I do agree with Ricky that UA-cam views are more valuable overall, the difficulty is you need to be able to monetize them via a good product/service offering which requires skill, so it takes a more strategic approach.
You build a lot more rapport with video than with blog content. If you have something to sell, and even for affiliate marketing, I find video content to be far more valuable than blog content. BUT, I also find that having my own website with content is also really valuable. I will always prefer to send people to my website than to another platform. With UA-cam, I can do both pretty well. I can get the earnings from a view on UA-cam and then get earnings from a view on my blog when I send them over. And, those viewers tend to trust me more than other blogs they read so they're more likely to follow my recommendations, which can earn me even more on my website.
@@IncomeSchool Interesting. So, it sounds like for the UA-cam model to work, best to have a product to sell as opposed to making money from ads and affiliates. Also, it sounds like you are done with blogging as far as driving traffic.
Absolutely! Businesses should absolutely be using blogging as a tool! They don’t need hundreds of thousands of pageviews to have it make a difference like content only sites do.
My issue with it is im in a verrrrry toxic niche with alot of gurus and alot of morons that think they know everything. I own a recording studio, my content would be geared around that…. And i anger fairly easy and wouldnt be able to handle the criticism well
It can also cause you to grow the wrong audience of you’re not really careful. But if you use the right parameters for your ad campaign then it can be effective.
I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure watch time and subscribers from paid ads don't count towards the minimum monetization requirements, so there's no point. Like Ricky said it'll just feed you the wrong audience.
@@IncomeSchool I found this channel for free by creeping on some weirdo's reddit posts. I was like "huh wow this person makes more than me? How?" I found she does some lame blog and watches you.
@@Jd7172g Subscribers form Ads count but watch time from Ads doesn't. However getting 1,000 subs is WAY harder than getting 4,000 organic watch hours. I had a channel in 2022 with over 25,000 watch hours and 800 subscribers and still could not monetize with Ads. Also traffic from the ads can click on other videos which then leads to watch time that counts towards the 4,000 watch hour requirement.
It’s later than it was yesterday… but not too late to be really successful! UA-cam channels are turning over all the time. New channels rise to popularity every day. Old creators move on.
Thanks, Ricky, totally agree. It's great seeing the entire walk through of what went into achieving your goal , well going beyond the goal, congrats 👏🏼, this is exactly what we need to do with Google abandoning all of us.
We shifted toward a strategy that included video 9 years ago. 5 years ago we started really encouraging our audience to do so as well. 4 years ago we started a whole UA-cam channel dedicated to helping you make good video content. This isn’t new.
Ricky is in deep trouble. He is on a sinking ship. Jim bailed on him. Nate black backstabbed him. Nate was literally paid to learn things and screw Ricky. Project 24 doesn't work with the current state of google. Ricky should start a new business instead of trying to save income school
Project 24 doesn’t rely on Google because it teaches WAY more than blogging. But I appreciate the concern. Lousy people are lousy. They may mistreat us. We move on. Onward and upward!

The subscriber count and views per video doesn’t make any sense.

I like how that stock footage guy looked tired and frustrated editing. I look forward to getting into the edit the minute I get home from work. 😁
Challenge Accepted
Thank you for case study. Wandering how 30 day youtube videos effected website traffic. Some say it doubles traffic. What was your experience?
❤❤❤Thank you Rick!
So did you upload the video and then share the links to friends and family or did you just upload the videos and let youtube push the videos to people?
I just let UA-cam push the videos. I didn’t share them on existing social media or anything. I wanted real organic growth.
I love this channel. I guess it's time to start putting some effort into video content.
That's an awesome challenge!!
Would it be a good idea to make animated explainer videos? I am quite shy showing myself on camera.
That is a CHALLENGE!!!!!
Crushing it!

Blogging is still a valuable part of a content marketing model, but all by itself it's not a great strategy right now.
Hii Rick. Do you think blogging for business to increase the visibility works even now? Especially for small brands...

should use paid ads with a miniscual daily budget of 2 -5 $. This helps the channel to monetize faster

Your shift towards videos make me believe SEO is not worth anymore. Is that true?
SEO is worth it but shouldn't be your only traffic strategy. It never should have been. Sure in the past it could have worked but it was never ideal.
