Just a few things I noticed you say The Cinderella does still serve for Viking Line as a cruise ferry, however she goes every other day from Stockholm to Helsinki rather than every day to Mariehamn. The Galaxy is a different story, she used to go between Stockholm and Turku but is now chartered to the Netherlands as a refugee home.
If you can have a couple of days at sea, with a bit of 'essential' shopping that's not a bad thing. You can take time out from modern-day hectic life, maybe read a good book and drink some wine, you have a designated driver/ ships captain after all. Do you get to stay long in Finland?
I completely agree! Sometimes I've taken cruises like this just to get away a bit. It's amazing to sit and read with a beer in your hand, and just relax. You typically have half a day in Finland, but I decided to stay the night as well.
Love how upscale this cruise seems at times, and then you see the people REALLY partying. Here are older people relaxing and cruising along...and here's Pink Hat in his balls suit! 🤣
And it's all so accepted - everyone expects there to be some crazy partying on these boats! And the party people are fine with not bothering the relaxed passengers (too much) - everyone just coexists :D
Soooo I wanted to comment something on this video, when I was watching, but somehow couldn't -.- Now I was - Spoiler alert - to tell you about some random other stuff (about music, Sweden/Swedes and kind of adjacent stuff connecting to music and well, probably me 🙈😇) as I was somehow else brought on this train of thoughts which led me to thinking of you and "ah well, algorithm and stuff" ^^ and coming here - I just realized, that your latest video did not show up in my subscription feed - and I double checked - I'm still subscribed (of course ^^) I guess all this technical stuff is a huge enigma, even for ppl working actually with it ^^ Well, now I'm confused and might be even more scatterbrained than usually, sorry for that 🙈 However, as said, I wanted to share some thoughts (ramble? ^^) I'll try my best to have at least kind of a structure 🤣 So, one thought which kinds of links some others: the video about the "car festival" reminded me of a very cool, rather small open air festival we have here - or rather an unusual combination of two festivals ;) it's called "riverside" (which makes sense when you look at the location) and I really love the combination of a (even for us, kind of smaller, but well executed) open air festival with mostly metal/rock bands - but at the same time, there is adjacent to it a very tiny rockabilly festival including showcasing of those beautiful old-timer cars! (I usually don't care about cars at all and don't even have a drivers license, but those old ones look nice ;) ) If they didn't change it up, having a ticket for the "big" open air - you're also allowed to visit the tiny stages around the lake to see and enjoy the rockabilly bands :) I really love that combo! - I'm not a huge music geek or so, and my taste might be very eclectic ^^ But at the end, i love the handmade stuff, with rhythm and the usual suspects of instruments; having voices and not much technology or "stutters" included ^^ and well - everything that kinds of "rock" so this is a match made in heaven for me 😊 (plus: not so over-crowded ^^) Speaking of music, there were some other things (some for far too long ^^) on my mind... I don't have access to netflix anymore, but there is/was a documentary on about music, and one (very witty and entertaining one) was about the Swedish influence to the whole scene - being it bands, producers, songwriters etc. I was kind of shocked to find out how many "soundtracks of my life" - liking them or not - came actually somehow from Sweden 😅 (like songs written for Brittney Spears, the Backstreet boys and other not so hyped figures in the 90s and onward) Oh, and they finished by introducing the term and meaning of "jentelaggen" (wasn't googling, hope spelled it right or you still know what I mean) I loved that! and it made so much sense, having in mind all the Swedish folks I (somewhat) "know" ☺ Still on the "music train": A few months ago, I watched a video (guess it was from "some random guy") who does a lot of compilation of music videos, by theme, years etc. and this one was about Swedish top songs. I didn't expect any big surprises anymore (The first CD I bought myself was from Roxette - yeah I'm old 😂) but I was surprised to learn that one of the songs that really annoyed me a lot (bc of other ppl always shoving it in my ears) was of "Swedish origin" as well - so if I'll ever be upset about anything - it would probably be that 🤣 However, you can't argue about taste (at least I would never ever want to) but on that note - I have to mention that our dialect word for licorice translates to "dirt/poop of a bear" and I find it quite fitting 🤭 Oh, this might be a good moment to open myself to some "hate" - probably the "newest" band I found I fell in love with (like 5-7 years ago) is actually Danish - hope you won't block me now ;) (it's Volbeat if you were curious, and they're much better live than on records - which i still love and enjoy 😊) Anyways, as someone who didn't have access to MTV and consorts the majority of their life, or just while being away - it's simply just fun to see a few seconds of a video clip ^^ Not to mention if you actually know/love the song, but never cared to google how the band/ppl look(ed) like and having a slight input of the aesthetics of the time back then 😄 (also; the shock value of "what the hell, this song is thaaaaat old!?!? - Wait, how old am I?!?!" 🤣) Guess I leave it at that now; haven taken up enough of your time ;) I'll go watch your latest video now before going to bed and wish you a great day! I took my first boat ride from Tallinn to Helsinki, and I was expecting something like this but it was absolutely dead and I'd say about 2/3 empty. It wasn't much better on the way back except that the bar was open. I didn't really get on that ship for the cruise experience but while I was there I felt slighty cheated 😆 It would be cool to take a cruise to Sweden next time I'm in Estonia, but I wont lie the prospect of being stuck on a ship with that many people makes me a bit anxious. Are they usually that full?
Oh, sorry to hear that! It really depends on what day of the week you go, and sometimes which week as well. But yeah, the boats are often quite full. This one wasn't fully booked by far - it can get much more crowded than this actually. But I think it's fun despite that!
Ha ha, you weren´t bullshitting about the pack of Heineken 😄. I travelled with Glory and Grace at october. I went to my aunts funeral in small village of Riala that is near by Norrtälje. When i came back i bought two cases of some Swedish beer that i hadn´t seen before (it was the cheapest) and two bottles of 60% Koskenkorva. I sold those beers becouse i don´t consume carbs. I´ve lost 44kg in 16 months with ketogenic diet. So if i drink, i drink vodka with mineral water. I was surpriced how expensive all candies were. But i managed to find something to my children. Those buffets are nice and i love all the fish and crabs in there. But that buffet costed over 50€ so i skipped that. Were you only at cruise or did you spend day or few in Finland?
I never joke about beer 🍺 But I get what you mean, I really should cut down on the carbs - maybe I'll manage it after summer. I spent a night in Turku and saw Moomin World and the town itself. So... I just might have a couple of more videos coming up from that trip 😊
@@ThreeStarVagabond Ok, i haven´t ever visited Moomin World, but i have been on ferry that goes from Naantali to kapellskär as i was little. My cousin use that mostly becouse they live ner of Norrtälje and it is sort way to drive there. We also once made quick cruise from Kapellskär to Åland and back becouse of Tax Free. If i remember correctly that was quite small boat of Eckerö Line.
I haven't tried those ferries from Naantali, but it does sound pretty fun. I think the scenery might be even better on those compared to the ones between Stockholm-Turku. But yeah, I typically stay away from Kappelskär because it's so far away from Stockholm...
Mr. Vagabond, how is the internet connection working on these ships? (WIFI or if you using mobile data internet) does it goes offline for the entire trip or it works all the time?
Good question! There's wifi on board. And your mobile connection works... For part of the journey. But basically, around midnight (from Stockholm) both wifi and mobile coverage becomes really bad, and then there's only the really crappy wifi for a few hours, until you reach Åland. Then both work for a while. Then it's back to no mobile coverage again until you get to Finland.
Let us know if YT issued you a warning for this title! I'm trying to figure out what's considered violation of YT policies. Not an easy task as all they ever do upon inquiry is shower you with bureaucracy. They issue warnings, but seems impossible to get information on what you were being warned for... 😕 I decided to stay away from anything remotely offensive (for 3 months) when it comes to wordings as I had this warning for something which is nothing less than a big mystery to me what it was. Hence I removed the comment I incautiously posted using the WT wording.

There is also two new ships going between Finland and Sweden. Finnlines new ships Finnsirius and Finncanopus between Naantali and Kapellskar.
