If you go in a village at night and if your in a house with no bed(or if it won't let you sleep) and your scared and trying to protect villagers, do what I do: blocks the doors,hide in a corner and place blocks around you.
Yes,zombies can break and open doors. Also don't hit too fast,it'll take two-three hits to kill a zombie if you slow down. And to tame a wolf you need to right click it while holding a bone,once its tamed it'll fight for you and kill anything you hit or that hits you. So play again and have fun!

There is a way to cure zombie villagers. And please remember "3 wool and 3 wooden planks". And you get the mod that lets you play as a pony. And you won't have to fight monsters if you set it to Peaceful.
