The Hugh Jackman wolverine figures are some of my favourite figures in my display. I hope someday they make the leather suit or days of future past look to include in the collection.
As someone who lacked a wolverine until now, ill tell you why this is the best from my perspective The classic wolverines are going for big bucks on the secondary market, so many collectors can't afford or get access to a pure, comic wolverine. Also, this one comes with an unmasked head, and none of the other classic wolverines had both an unmasked and masked head. The suit he's wearing is also his modern Astonishing outfit, which is a fan favorite. This suit has minor differences than his classic, but actually IMPROVE the classic suit. FYI he's also worn this suit in the awesome show Wolverine and The X Men as well as the video game Spiderman Web of Shadows. The heated claws imo are not a deal breaker as you can pretend the red is blood. Sometimes artists draw wolverine with bloody claws since they tear through his skin when he pops them out If you don't have a wolverine yet, GET THIS GUY. He's everything you could want in a wolverine. I got this guy on Mercari early, and he fits perfectly with my display. I have him neatly posed fighting my black suit Spider-Man, mimicing the iconic boss battle in Web of Shadows
Not a big marvel legends fan, I only started collecting it recently cause of all the Spider-Man stuff they’ve been coming out with, but this one looked so good I just had to have it. Definitely happy with my choice. Honestly I also couldn’t care less about the heated claws or different outfit. It’s done well and looks like wolverine. And the black shoulder pads do add a nice touch to the look.

This is his suit from The Return Of Wolverine the series that took place after he came back from dying in the Death Of Wolverine series a couple years earlier and is a reimagining of his Astonishing X-Men suit so not really classic but still works 🤷♂️
Wolverine's hot claws are a side effect of his resurrection. Logans healing factor was turbo-charged so he could be resurrected, that added energy had begun manifesting as heat.
I love the mask less head sculpt and picked up the loose shirtless wolverine from the 5 pack on Ebay for cheap and used it on my retro wave Wolverine but not I kinda regret not waiting for this release. Might have to pick it up if I see it in the wild.
It's great to have another Wolverine. But I started wondering do we have any other X-Men in outfits that go with him? Made me start thinking about how many team eras can we put together? I know the Jim Lee era is complete. But do we have any others that are? Outback is getting a bit closer. Hasbro seems to just put out a few characters. But they rarely complete a matching team roster.

Take a metallic marker to those claws...darn near perfect Logan. Don't know why we haven't gotten a pin less variant of thos body yet... Amazon and H Pulse aren't shipping these out til much later in the year.
The black pads really make the suit pop, something about it being different fits and the coloring of the claws is damn great I just wish he had alternate hands
Wasn’t planning on getting this one BUT…now that you said it could be blood dripping down the claws…or heated up from an energy blast…I might have to reconsider. (I like the rating scale btw)
Yeah, the blood idea makes it a lot better and I had already decided that was what it was. I too could see the green undertone or tint in the yellow they used. I'd really like to know what people think about the two costumes side-by-side. This is the affordable option probably for getting a bright yellow Wolverine for those who want it, but I think I might find the Love Triangle original 90s costume the preferable one for me, where Wolverine has a bit of a silly, old-fashioned, wrestler style going on too, whereas this one, or someone who is worried about conforming to standards of looking cool, seems less cool to me, than a wacko wearing their underwear on the outside and yelling "BUB!!!!", that seems more consistent to me. It becomes harder for me to imagine a better dressed Wolverine performing the lines, and so the better dress then seems kind of more bland to me in some ways. The Love Triangle release, which should just be a basic version that everyone has, is way too pricey though, so my only Yellow Wolverines are much older ones, one even from the 90s, another is a Diamond Select, and otherwise I have the brown costumed Wolverine, which I think is fine really, and a little more mellow and easier on the eyes perhaps, and still consistent with the whole "Bub(bery)!" of Wolverine from the good old days.

I just got this figure and love it! I have mine fighting the Maestro. I don't mind the brighter yellow, in fact, I kind of dig it. I have heard that yellow is a difficult color to work with but that may just be an action figure urban legend. Anyway, it's cool and I didn't even mind paying the full price of $22.99.
I feel like there's a problem with Hasbro's coloring in general. I don't know if they have a bad colorist, or if there's something more scientific involved where the manufacturing plant can't get the plastic to perfectly match the color schemes Hasbro provides. But this has been a recurring problem (Tigra, Dormammu, the just announced Firelord, etc.). Also I'm a fan of the number scale, Dave!
I don't know if the number scale is too big for my tastes. I might want a more refined number scale or more efficient one, but if more items get on it, we'll be able to kind of see a sort of anecdotal loose "science" building up and be able to potentially predict David's ratings for things or understand better what they mean and what elements might move things up and down the scale. It gets even more unnecessarily bloated with .5 and other .1 elements added to it. I prefer much more brutishly simple rating systems with less numbers involved. David should write down all of the ratings he broadcasts along with the date he makes the decision, and then to see if his feelings change and the ratings change, but then can also build up a ranking list that way, and even tiers. I think this figure looks pretty good overall, and I'd banish it to my figure hell of the totally unnecessary, unwanted, and not what I'm looking or asking for variants of things. So even though it might be an alright figure, its ultimately just some kind of repaint and recombination instead of the one I actually might want more, similar to why I cancelled the Movie Body Venom in the Knull pack, because I already purchased that Venom in the movie paint form, and I want a more video game Venom body instead, the older Venom, an improved version, bulkier but not crazy huge either, so that one actually was irritating and disappointing me as just a minor repaint that was costing me so much had I maintained the pre-order. I'm glad that David is enjoying Hasbro still, but they haven't done much to impress me lately. I wish people would start being a lot more picky with their figures and purchases so the company might start to only produce more impressive things overall instead of these slight re-paints and re-uses constantly. I want cool and unique figures looking their absolute best, but in many ways their style is moving away from what I like, at least with a whole lot, or the vast majority of new releases.

So if you had a choice and the normal version or 90s version was available for the same price as this one, would you choose that or this? If the normal version from the 90s was slightly higher priced, how much more would you pay in order to get that one before choosing this one for a lower cost? What are your thoughts and feelings on the brown costumed one?

Yeah, I'd find it pretty absurd if someone replaced that one with this one, which seems to be what David did, but possibly not what David would've done if he had both in-hand and had to choose between them.
I've still got the old astonishing/new avengers Wolverine from Hasbro puck BAF wave. I'm hoping i can swap the lower legs and make this new Wolverine a custom bash that can replace that older one. The older one is too tall.

Others may disagree but for me this is my definitive Marvel Legends Wolverine action figure. The "hot claws" don't bother me at all, but it's easy enough to swap out the hands for a version that you prefer more. Didn’t WWE have a bone breaking figure series back in the Jakks WWF days? The joints would make a cracking sound every time you bent the figure which was made from soft plastic. Also not digging the lemon yellow for the figure colour. I love everything about it! 🍋
Well since I missed out on the marvel 12 inch Wolverine I’ll definitely get this one and I will never pay for that 5 pack Amazon exclusive that’s for sure.
It's an amazing fig. Mine though has an issue with the butterfly joint. The shoulder blade is a bit too big and restricts the movement of the joint. Still solid though

Honestly as a huge wolverine collector to the point that I have the 12 inch figure, I agree. But! For a comic book adaptation. My favorites EASILY is the San Diego comicon one, and the other two I have, which is tank top and leather jacket, wolverine. But my 2 pack takes the cake. But if we’re talking about comic book figures, oh yeah, definitely. But comic old man Logan is up there.

This version of Wolverine looks much better than I really expected it to, so I may just go ahead and get him, but those dumb@$$ "heat" claws are a BIG STUPID HELL NO, bro...!! First off, I think the concept of fire claws on the character is absurdly ridiculous, considering he has ZERO fire powers to feed into this... Secondly, I absolutely HATE the claw mold these claws were re-used from, as they'd NEVER fit inside his arm, and IF they DID, first time he popped them, his hands would basically be sliced into 4 dangly useless pieces of flesh, blood & bones... I mean, JUST look at them...!🙄😑😑 Dumb@$$ claws aside, it will be nice to have more head sculpt options, and an alternative to the less than ideal yellow tiger stripe costume, which I've never been a fan of... I MUCH prefer the classic Uncanny xmen Brown & orange version, myself. The claws, IF I keep them, will be painted to cover the idiotic heat idea, and make them look normal...

I LOVE how Mezco and MAFEX look over ML- but, I don't feel anxious random messing around with a ML vs a MAFEX where something might pop off might water down the moment of enjoyment or kill your picture idea via spending extra time popping things back together or something) MAFEX usually photograph better cause of the plastic/paint but ML is pure fun for $25.
Just to add, the masked face, it doesn’t make sense for this particular Wolverine having a calm expression because according to the comics, his super heated claws happen when he’s in a berserker rage! That face does not convey any kind of rage..

All these figure kind of look cheap,feels cheap. I got the animated Wolverine and looks great but does seen cheap feels cheap. That new He- man line looked cheap,... And on top of issues I had with that new movie/cartoon ... Absolutely did not collect that line. Hopefully that plastic cheap look and feeling doesn't continue
Hasbro has a really weird sense of humor, where the stuff they are putting out now seem increasingly cheap, while being all the more "not cheap" cost-wise. Ha Ha, good one Hasbro!

That is 35 CAD before taxes, shipping, and import fees too, which usually makes it 45 to 50 CAD or more after all that, sometimes going on to 60 CAD. Then, when it stops being available at a reasonable price from big retailers (and in the case of that one, if it is an exclusive, or just a Hasbro special thing, it becomes very difficult to get), some people sell it on Ebay, and even if they try to sell it at a reasonable price, the shipping costs over Ebay's Global Shipping Program are enormous, like 30 or more CAD on top of the prices that are already doubled, so easily reaching 90 CAD, plus import fees sometimes, which are an extra 10 to 20 CAD, so going onto 100 CAD or more for these "exclusive" figures. Baby wants his TOYS! Baby ANGRY when Baby can't get his TOYS! Why Baby can't get his TOYS at REASONABLE PRICE for BABY? Ebay also charges the seller and takes a chunk out of that, plus a chunk out of their false and illegitimate shipping and import costs or over-charge which they skim from and also don't pass down to the seller apparently. So its like 100 CAD not even reaching the seller necessarily who might even be trying to sell it for much less. I'm really irritated about all this, and it is very difficult to find a good deal anymore, when it was possible to do so just a few years ago (or maybe closer to a decade ago now, like 7 years ago and before then). I still manage to make some deals, but I have to do so much talking and negotiating to balance out the costs, and end up spending a lot more. For example, I just purchased from Ebay 3 Hasbro things from one seller. An ordinary Transformers figure called Doubledealer is selling for 86 CAD on Amazon Canada, so I found an unboxed version to bid on that ended up being 66 CAD, still very expensive, then I bit on a Classified Baroness with C.O.I.L. Bike from the same seller, expecting the shipping to combine, but when I did that, it charged import fees on both figures so it ended up being the full individual shipping charge for both and according to the seller who showed me the behind the scenes Ebay messages, it wouldn't even let him adjust the shipping and import charges because of their Global Shipping Program, so then I had to order another figure, Spider-Woman from the Lizard BAF wave to use as an alternative Baroness, which ended up making everything come to over 175 CAD total, like 58 CAD each if divided by three. The 175 was because PayPal charges an extra "currency conversion fee" too, which increased the total by even more! Totally saps the fun out of things. Also the sellers get annoyed with the questions and negotiations sometimes, the whole thing is stressful. These companies treat us like we are stupid, we know that these prices are simply set because they can get away with it and still convince enough people, possibly even more people than ever before, to pay the prices they make up and set and demand, when they are producing these for a fraction of those costs, and even reducing the overall quality in many ways, the paints, the look, and my collection is supposed to impress me and others, not to look like total crap that I bought new and spent a fortune on, that becomes a matter of shame and an insult to myself and a cause for others to think badly of my taste and decision making abilities! No one would care if I had a cheesy looking plastic collection that took a little bit of space but was all purchased for like 40 dollars or something lol, which is probably what it is actually worth in reality.

I can confirm the Bonebreaker wave Wolvie is blacklight reactive, whereas the love triangle one isn't. Unknown if Apocalypse wave is or not.

Didn’t WWE have a bone breaking figure series back in the Jakks WWF days? The joints would make a cracking sound every time you bent the figure which was made from soft plastic.
Also not digging the lemon yellow for the figure colour. I love everything about it! 🍋

It's an amazing fig. Mine though has an issue with the butterfly joint. The shoulder blade is a bit too big and restricts the movement of the joint. Still solid though

Honestly as a huge wolverine collector to the point that I have the 12 inch figure, I agree. But! For a comic book adaptation. My favorites EASILY is the San Diego comicon one, and the other two I have, which is tank top and leather jacket, wolverine. But my 2 pack takes the cake. But if we’re talking about comic book figures, oh yeah, definitely. But comic old man Logan is up there.

This version of Wolverine looks much better than I really expected it to, so I may just go ahead and get him, but those dumb@$$ "heat" claws are a BIG STUPID HELL NO, bro...!!
First off, I think the concept of fire claws on the character is absurdly ridiculous, considering he has ZERO fire powers to feed into this... Secondly, I absolutely HATE the claw mold these claws were re-used from, as they'd NEVER fit inside his arm, and IF they DID, first time he popped them, his hands would basically be sliced into 4 dangly useless pieces of flesh, blood & bones... I mean, JUST look at them...!🙄😑😑
Dumb@$$ claws aside, it will be nice to have more head sculpt options, and an alternative to the less than ideal yellow tiger stripe costume, which I've never been a fan of... I MUCH prefer the classic Uncanny xmen Brown & orange version, myself.
The claws, IF I keep them, will be painted to cover the idiotic heat idea, and make them look normal...

There's NO DAMN WAY these weird@$$ claws could even remotely fit inside his forearms. The artist who drew them out that way (Clayton Craine) apparently had his head up his @$$ that day.

I LOVE how Mezco and MAFEX look over ML- but, I don't feel anxious random messing around with a ML vs a MAFEX where something might pop off might water down the moment of enjoyment or kill your picture idea via spending extra time popping things back together or something) MAFEX usually photograph better cause of the plastic/paint but ML is pure fun for $25.

Just to add, the masked face, it doesn’t make sense for this particular Wolverine having a calm expression because according to the comics, his super heated claws happen when he’s in a berserker rage! That face does not convey any kind of rage..

All these figure kind of look cheap,feels cheap. I got the animated Wolverine and looks great but does seen cheap feels cheap. That new He- man line looked cheap,... And on top of issues I had with that new movie/cartoon ... Absolutely did not collect that line. Hopefully that plastic cheap look and feeling doesn't continue
VHS Wolverine shouldve been pinless and had tighter joints for 27.99
Hasbro has a really weird sense of humor, where the stuff they are putting out now seem increasingly cheap, while being all the more "not cheap" cost-wise. Ha Ha, good one Hasbro!

That is 35 CAD before taxes, shipping, and import fees too, which usually makes it 45 to 50 CAD or more after all that, sometimes going on to 60 CAD. Then, when it stops being available at a reasonable price from big retailers (and in the case of that one, if it is an exclusive, or just a Hasbro special thing, it becomes very difficult to get), some people sell it on Ebay, and even if they try to sell it at a reasonable price, the shipping costs over Ebay's Global Shipping Program are enormous, like 30 or more CAD on top of the prices that are already doubled, so easily reaching 90 CAD, plus import fees sometimes, which are an extra 10 to 20 CAD, so going onto 100 CAD or more for these "exclusive" figures.
Baby wants his TOYS! Baby ANGRY when Baby can't get his TOYS! Why Baby can't get his TOYS at REASONABLE PRICE for BABY? Ebay also charges the seller and takes a chunk out of that, plus a chunk out of their false and illegitimate shipping and import costs or over-charge which they skim from and also don't pass down to the seller apparently. So its like 100 CAD not even reaching the seller necessarily who might even be trying to sell it for much less.
I'm really irritated about all this, and it is very difficult to find a good deal anymore, when it was possible to do so just a few years ago (or maybe closer to a decade ago now, like 7 years ago and before then).
I still manage to make some deals, but I have to do so much talking and negotiating to balance out the costs, and end up spending a lot more.
For example, I just purchased from Ebay 3 Hasbro things from one seller. An ordinary Transformers figure called Doubledealer is selling for 86 CAD on Amazon Canada, so I found an unboxed version to bid on that ended up being 66 CAD, still very expensive, then I bit on a Classified Baroness with C.O.I.L. Bike from the same seller, expecting the shipping to combine, but when I did that, it charged import fees on both figures so it ended up being the full individual shipping charge for both and according to the seller who showed me the behind the scenes Ebay messages, it wouldn't even let him adjust the shipping and import charges because of their Global Shipping Program, so then I had to order another figure, Spider-Woman from the Lizard BAF wave to use as an alternative Baroness, which ended up making everything come to over 175 CAD total, like 58 CAD each if divided by three. The 175 was because PayPal charges an extra "currency conversion fee" too, which increased the total by even more!
Totally saps the fun out of things. Also the sellers get annoyed with the questions and negotiations sometimes, the whole thing is stressful.
These companies treat us like we are stupid, we know that these prices are simply set because they can get away with it and still convince enough people, possibly even more people than ever before, to pay the prices they make up and set and demand, when they are producing these for a fraction of those costs, and even reducing the overall quality in many ways, the paints, the look, and my collection is supposed to impress me and others, not to look like total crap that I bought new and spent a fortune on, that becomes a matter of shame and an insult to myself and a cause for others to think badly of my taste and decision making abilities! No one would care if I had a cheesy looking plastic collection that took a little bit of space but was all purchased for like 40 dollars or something lol, which is probably what it is actually worth in reality.
