@@dylanb3988 Yea, they're usually called "instrumentals", or at the most basic level, a "Tune", cos if there ain't no words, it's not a "Song"... is the point A "Song", is sung, by a singer... get it ?
I remember walking home from getting fired from my first job because I proved $1.00 over and this played on my ipod, realizing the weight I was born to carry.
I love the title of this song, “Hands”. This song is sort of all over the place, yet organized. Just like a human hand. From pushing sleep on an alarm, to twisting the shower knobs to cleanse and awake us, getting dressed, to filling up a cup of coffee, stumbling out the door and then doing all that every one of us humans do at work and keep the world turning.
this makes so much sense. everything's strange at first, nothing makes sense. then there's some structure and balance and you get into the rhythm of things. there's still crazy ambiance going on, but it seems to fit. you finally get into the swing of things. then the rhythm escapes you. like all things, it ends. just because it has an ending doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy it at all. everything ends. it's the journey to the end that matters.
god I remember when this first came out. It was one of my favorite songs ever. Does my heart good to see it has over a million views. I used to feel alone with how much I loved this song.
I can't say enough good things about Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet, his music is beyond inspiration, every time I listen I feel as if I'm taken to a place where everything is how it should be free from judgement and evil - I guess you could say I'm now in Heaven !
@shinrainc00 The Album is all white and has "Canine Heart Sounds" printed on the front. It was realeased by some vetrinary association. The First few heart beats go on for a couple of minutes or so, but there are 20 or 30 different heart sounds from dogs with murmurs and palpitations as well. In this song he uses the sample from a healthy dog, but the unhealthy sounds can be fucking cool sounding. I tried looking on amazon, but only found a used one for 95 bucks. I stumbled on a lucky find.
NO WAY! AWESOME! The heart beat sample from the beginning is a dogs heart beat recorded and pressed onto vinyl to share with veterinarians as examples of different murmurs. I just picked it up at my local thrift shop and thought it was awesome. What a coincidence that I happen to find this song!
I am on a musical journey till I die. I am always discovering new music. Music is life. Sound is vibration and all we are is millions and millions of little vibrations. Everything has a sound our world in a sense is music. We are music.
i was fortunate enough to see him in Taipei, man the stuff he pulls off on his machines are amazing. he even did a prodigy cover with all the weird electro sounds, must say one of the best shows
burial and four tet made a record together- just a two track collaboration. "Moth" and "Wolf Club" both phenomenal but moth is one my all time favourites
0:40 and past is just hypnotizing. So many songs today can describe emotion but artists like four tet or tycho can really make their art an open book and make you feel emotion.
This song...idk even know what to put down to express how it makes me feel...so calming but kinda fast paced making it energetic...it's just the perfect mix 5*
Yeh man sure! Well I'd say firstly I'd have to mention John Coltrane, not all his works are in the free jazz genre, it's mainly his works in his Ascension album which is strictly free jazz. Also check out this guy called Sun Ra, he's pretty mad, thought he came from Jupiter or something! His stuff can be way more percussive. Then there's the pianist Cecil Taylor and another saxophonist called Albert Ayler, his tune "Omega is the Alpha" springs to mind. Check them out!
i found this music about 20-30 min ago and every song i click on is fucking rad. i dont think ive listened to much music in the past 10 years that has put a smile on my face like Four Tet. thanks to the composer(s)
My goddddd this is gorgeous! I recently got into Four Tet after listening to his latest album and his fusion of post rock, jazz, and electronic music idioms has got me hooked =]
Nobody is their past. Nobody should be forced to live with past mistakes. You are who you are now, your past is not a part of you but the journey leading up to your current situation. Just because you've done great things in the past doesn't mean you can do bad things now and having done bad things in the past, in no way effects what great things you can start doing now.
yeh man for sure. Thinking about it, musical voyages are sort of like fractals. You can forever delve deeper into a genre and the deeper you delve the more blurry the lines become between genres. One thing leads to another and before you know it you find you started off listening to hip-hop and are now somehow listening to IDM, or Jazz or Funk or trip-hop. We musical discovery voyagers just love music hah.
Man this is great music, i've always been pretty open to music and i am amazed ive never heard this before. Thanks to youtube and the good people leaving comments pointing in the right direction, i very much "per-ci-ate-it"lol
I know what you mean. I've been on a musical venture myself recently. I'm certainly feeling many of the Jazz artists I've come across. I too have across a genre of jazz called free-jazz. I absolutely love it! I dunno if it's the same as what you call "avant-Jazz" But I'd certainly say that what those free-jazz artists were doing at the time was certainly avant-garde and still is!
Damn this brings me back to when I was 11 years old. I'm now 16 *sighs* listening to this brings me back through so many memories. It's only been 5 years yet I feel so old...

Holy fucking shit. My mind has been completely shattered. It starts out with music played at the quantum level and evolves into the familiar cosmos. My mind is gone. Wow. The most amazing music I have heard in forever.
aw man the way the percussive elements announce themselves then roll out flooding the room with their beauty. It's just so. damn. poetic.
This has got to be one of the best songs of the previous decade. Really strikes me as something special.
Takes me to another world
strange.... I don't hear anything being sung ?
@@SuperChoronzon Why does anything need to be sung for a song to be good? Some of the best music ever does not even remotely feature the human voice.

Saw this live in Porto, Portugal when he opened for Radiohead. Still an amazing piece of work 20 years later.
It's disorganised beautifully.

Listening to this song for the first time when I was young brought me to tears.
four tet is the greatest thing to happen to anyone's life
magically mesmerising....pure ingenuity. Four Tet is a genius!
Walkin barefoot on the wet soil after a light afternoon rain...I can smell it...
Beautiful, nostalgic dreams of a time that was. Locked up memories released and stirring back to me
Four Tet is simply amazing to listen to while getting work done.
Welp, at least I finally found you Four Tet, well done.
+iVulgarThrust Welcome, brother.
Amazing video. It reminds me of the parade of colors that you see when you shut your eyes tight and put your hands over your eyelids :)
this stuff's mellow and it takes talent, skill, and style .
It starts off with a ❤️ BEAT
It progresses
It exuberates
It fades
It dies
It's life......

I like to imagine how much meaning is contained in the title "Hands". Hands make our life path infinite.

it's this radio thing that you pick any song, and it creates a radio station based on what song you picked. Great way to find new music.
started having a seizure watching the video but continued listening
As far as free jazz goes, there's this relatively unknown album by Hermann Szobel that came out in '76. That's definitely something you might want.
the beat seems to develop itself! just amazing!!!

You must be dead inside if you can't at least appreciate this.
A top experimental Artist. Love Four Tet and pioneering acts like UNKLE, Massive Attack, Leftfield, Tricky, AllFaws

harmony and diversity in the same time..Four Tet..
... existentialists and their jumbled up, yet ever so passionate logic. I love it. Four tet rules, it makes people think.
Really great video, music is impressive too.
Four Tet's so trippy, so surreal, so good.

god i love when that drum track comes in..
It has rythm. It has notes. It is music. Thus, it is art. It might not be to you, and that's ok, I respect that.
that's really cool, like a mind trip.
Gorgeous melody
it's really trippy. i like it.
