Serylda's Grudge rn it's a really awkward item for non-lethality builders, since the armor pen scales with lethality, and you also need enemies to be below 50% to proc the slow.
yeah the nerf on the percent armour pen to 20% i think is also pretty rough
Even for lethality users if you don't go 5 lethality items it's much worse than ldr damage wise. To the point cleaver is probably better for non crit users if they need armor pen but have no lethality
They should at least make it 70-80%

hey drew aside from the crit on Lord Doms grudge got changed to be more a lethality item with the armor pen directly scaling with lethality, so in this build only only get like 22% armor pen from grudge instead of 30% from LDR and you dont get the slow passive on grudge if your opponents over 50% in this new season so LDR having more armor pen and a better passive this season along side him also conveniently already having crit makes it clearly the better option
It's situational now, grudge better in most cases. Way better item on ez.
If you're going crit then go LDR. It's stupid to deny yourself 20% crit chance
Here is the explanation for 22:15 .... Serylda's Grudge got changed and now only slows enemies down below a certain HP percentage, while before it always used to slow enemies down when abelites landed. One of the primary reasons Ezreal players used to build that item is because of that slow besides armor pen. Since he is highly skillshot dependent, slowing enemies means juking gets harder for them, making skillshot landing a lot easier. By comparsion, LDR applies bonus damage to enemies with higher HP besides armor pen, and since he is building Essence Reaver already which has crit chance, it allows him to land more crits by weaving autos. This transfers to much more DPS overall.
I think the bigger reason is, seryldas scales with lethality now and he has no lethality in his build so its like a 20% armor pen on seryldas vs 30% armor pen ldr
Even though LDR is clearest the best in terms of damage, I think that people still buys Serylda's for the CDR and a bit of lethality for Ezreal's skills damage, usually you will half the enemy with WEQ (if it's squishy) for the slow as well. As for tank damaging, I personally think that if you play Conqueror+Cut down and have Navori/Shojin, your E will have minimum cooldown so you will always get the tank if they're running away or always escaping from them if they're chasing you, so 80% of the matches you'll probably want Serylda's, this match against TK and Udyr, both of them were laners, TK farming will get the enough gold to buy the true tank itens (not the cheaper support ones), plus TK only plays full frontline for senna freehits and damage, so killing TK/Udyr fast will break enemy team comp.

the fact that ekko randomly going for the plates there denied ezreal the manamune buy is why junglers will forever deserve flame
At 22:24 he buys lord Dom's there because Grudge scales with lethality now instead of being precent armor pen so Lord Dom's gives him more damage against strong armor stackers like Graves and Kench. If the enemy was more squishy, Grudge would be better because of the slow as he wouldn't need as much armor pen to do big damage.

Ldr gives 30% armor pen and the giant slayer passive while seryldas grudge gives 20% +30% of your lethality. You need like 4 lethality items to reach 30% and the slow only works against targets below 50% hp.
LDR also gives at least +4% Ability Damage, due to Giant Slayer, which is half of the benefit of a fully stacked Spear of Shojin. Like OutstandinglySteve said, it gives more damage on Q due to having superior Armor Penetration.
EDIT: Clarity
Grudge gives 0.11% per 1 of your lethality (That's 11% btw). You don't hit 30% total until you have 6 full lethality items...meaning you have to sell your boots in order to hit 30% pen. However, it does cap out at 32% + your lethality...so a full lethality build is FAR more armour pen than any other build in the game, however you can't build ezreal like that so Grudge is kinda bait imo.
The lord doms vs grudge is because they fixed grudge so it scales based on your lethality and made the slow only apply when enemies are below 50% HP, so now the item is actually balanced as an assassin item and can’t just be built on any champ with ad

Been playing Ezreal and theory crafting.. but I noticed that during auto-weaving with Qs....
...that at it felt awkward to Auto-Q, Auto... instead I would Q-Autos (then move)... and it seemed a little smoother
BUT if you have W/E up... it seems okay to Auto-Q-(W or E)... theres no waiting around for autos to cd in this case. The auto cd will coincide with that ending of the W or E.
Its like patching up the auto cd timers with abilities... Never try to patch up the auto cd smoothly with Q alone.

personaly I LOVE this season! Its so fun watching pro games were noone can predict what champs are being picked or even which lane its gonna play. Its so nice with most champs being equal in power and its just all about mechanics and not about which team gets the better champs. Ofcourse counters are still a thing but to me personaly it seems like its less important than before.
What pro games are you watching ? Lck and lec teams play the same 15 champs over and over

i have yet to see a single ez build essence reaver manamune shojin as core, myself included, in probably seeing him 50+ games. its most definitely new, people are either stuck going crit or tri force normally but he combined them which i havent seen anyone do(mind you im in d3-masters mmr)

Navori is pretty much always better than shojin other than it provides tankiness which is nice. Frozen heart another common option. Horizon focus later also pretty good option.

@midbeast the penetration portion on the grudge scales with lethality now, so hes most likely wants the LDR to do more dmg and use the passive giant slayer for TK I guess... Even without the crit being used that much, it is more damage!

He doesn’t buy refillable because with cookies on ez you simply don’t have inventory space for it. You can see when he gets back to lane after 2nd death the cookie spawns into his last slot

It's because tanks kept ezreal at bay slightly, but in this season they removed all tank items except for perhaps jaksho.
Not at alll.... He just got ridiculous dmg buffs on all 3 of his abilities. Tank items are better than ever.

Stats speak otherwise, but sure!
HP was the weakest stat goldwise per relative health in the last few seasons. Now every item has HP on it and very little resistances. HP 'tanks' really pale to compare to previous seasons resistance tanks. But idk I only play in masters euw.

I am not 100% sure!!, but i think in the previous patches the description of LDR had bonus Physical dmg for tankier enemies but now its just bonus dmg meaning all of ezreals abilites benefit from the dmg amplification.
the slow and pen from seryldas scale from lethality now. since you dont build lethality on ezreal you wont get the 30% pen. only the base 20%. the slow is also now only applied to enemies below 50% or their max health. ldr is alot better now for the set 30% pen and all the benefits you previously mentioned :)

Grudge got gutted this season plus they have a tahm kench and an udyr so even if we had last season grudge this might be a good LDR game.

There is no way Ezreal is the highest winrate. Master+ is around 52% emerald+ is around 50% meanwhile Miss Fortune is rocking a 54% in all elos with similar pick rate.
