- hey everyone! after multiple requests on my recently published college decision reaction video to make a stats & ecs video, i got to work as quickly as possible. in this video, i walk you through what i did in high school and also drop tips along the way.

I am going into 8th grade but I think it is important to watch videos like these as they certainly benefit me and guide me as I go into my final year of middle school.
These will guide you through high school. It’s great to get a head start but are unnecessary for middle school.
same here, tryna get precalc done in 8th grade so I have a shot at getting a near perfect score on the SAT
if you have the opportunity to take high school classes in 8th grade then do it
@@miumoments thanks for the reply. My school is next to a high school so we can do high school math and science if we want. Im doing geometry in 8th. I didn’t want to do biology as it is one of our elective choices and wanted to do other electives.
@@Seventeenstan1317 that’s great! it might be hard but try to maintain an A or at least a B+ in the class as it will appear on your transcript and might affect your gpa

Your highschool is insane!!! Mine barely had any clubs and offered no courses outside of the most basic ones
That's the difference between rich and poor schools. It give undue advantage tot those who can afford.
@@petrichor259 well yeah, but schools need more money to even implement good programmes. But u can enter and initiate things for free online and initiate offline clubs or projects yourself. So all in all, the people who go to private schools just have easier access to these clubs, but that does not mean u can't do the same things unless they require huge amounts of money
same for me and so was my middle school. we didn't even have clubs and we couldnt make clubs
mine lets you study on your own, you dont even go to school and this video made me so disappointed i have no other activities that can be mentioned all i have is bunch of courses that i did self study online with some books read that are related to course i want to do,, iam just disappointed

Can you give some advice for an 11th grader who wants to apply for US colleges with good academics but minimum/zero extracurriculars?
Thats the problem with indian education system they dont emphasize on extracurriculars or projects for students ......Just mug up and 75% attendance when i think about these system it pisses me up so hard
Congratulations on getting into Duke with a full ride! I had a question about community service.. How were you able to get over 800 hours? I want to try to maximize the number of hours I can get especially during the summer.. Was it mostly related to your major of interest? Or just helping out the community?
Hi!! I started a lot of the community service projects I did from the ground up (came up with the idea, networked, executed the plans), and accounting for all of the behind the scenes work naturally added to my hours because I spent so much time on them. Hope that helps!
How were you able to get research opportunities? Did you use cold emailing or another method?
Mostly cold emailing! My NC State internship was established through an application-based summer program though.
Did you get like a 4 or 5 on all the APs you took?
Your resume is so impressive, where do you find time for all this.. between I am a middle schooler and do you have any tips how to look for these opportunities
Thank you so much!! Time management definitely took a bit to get used to but it’s just something I had to develop over time. As for looking for the opportunities I would ask students in grades above you, your school counselor/principal, Google, and watch other stats/ec videos for inspiration! And honestly, sometimes you have to make the opportunities if they don’t exist, which was something I had to do throughout high school.
Congratulations Anika! You are very bright! I really want to go to a top school but I only have a 3.5-3.6 UW and 3.83 W. I have taken all honors and AP classes but have gotten a couple B’s and 1 C. I struggled with issues in sophomore and junior year which really impacted me. Any tips?
That’s okay!! Grades definitely play a role in admissions but they aren’t everything-the fact that you took all honors and AP classes shows your determination. I would explain the situation that impacted you in your sophomore/junior year on the additional information section and suggest that you highlight other aspects of yourself as well (extracurriculars, leadership, hobbies, etc.). Good luck!! :)

im scared i wont be able to get in because in my country we dont have honors classes not sure about dual enrollment (mostly not available) im inot in IB board school and yeah AP classes arnt offered too but i'll give ap's out of school so should work out for me ig
Admissions measures you according to the context of your situation and what was offered so I would just suggest maximizing the opportunities given to you!

Your counselor should be able to integrate them to your high school transcript or you should be able to submit an extra document or additional info for most schools!
what kinda collage courses, should they be with Certificates or can i mentione the huge amount of playlists on youtube and books that i studied

I'm a strategy consultant at one of the most prestigious firms in the world. I completed my MBA at an Ivy League school. I also used my time in high school to be a kid.
Please do not aspire for this. This level of intense workload is a receipt for an unbalanced and frankly tough life. Be a kid, hang out with your friends, drink alcohol, don't take life so seriously.
