I have the 18 and have cut multiple trees up with it, mostly oaks. I can go through a whole battery now with maybe retightening the chain once. It was a bit more often when new, and I assume the chain stretched a bit. Love the saw, and haven’t even started my Stihl 180 since I got the Ego. And I really like the soft Ego bag I got for it. I also have multiple batteries due to having other Ego tools. I used 3 last time I cut up 4 -5 oak trees.
your mic sounds great. liked your rants and rambling on...lol very informative. didn't know they did that type of tightening system. great to know. hopefully they didn't do that to the 2022 16" saw
Actually lithium batteries are recyclable now. There's a couple companies in the United States, some in Europe and Canadas been doing it since about 2016 that I know of. My local home depot has a drop off, specifically for lithium batteries now.
And I don't know about ego brand, but I got a GreenWorks lawnmower in 2014 and it's still going strong on the same 40v battery that came with it. Like your review of the chainsaws, I would probably go with the 16" now, because that chain tightening system on the 18" model is a disaster.
If I took it camping regularly I would remove the bar and chain to transport it. It's not much to install it. Maybe you'll see why the tensioner isn't working properly
everybody trashes the LED light....I just bought this saw and the LED light actually is nice in the dark....it has a high and low setting, and adequately lights up the front area of the saw
I just bought the new EGO 1804 not at all happy with the auto tensioner the cam tightens it way too much then get lot of chain stretch. Probably why had to keep adjusting it. I haven't used mine yet only few days old thinking just packing it up take it back to Lowes go buy a Stihl. I'm in Arizona also planning on getting a firewood permit in a few weeks get some wood south of Springerville. I have a friend who lives up there they know where to get it. I have a homelite owned for 20 years I want a backup electric saw would be good don't need tools. Just not happy with that bar and adjustment why these companies come up with the ideas good old two nuts and screwdriver adjustment work great.
I go camping at the edge of the Rodio Chediski fire. There's a TON of fallen trees that we've been cutting up over the years. For some reason, I'm finding the chain on the 18 inch gets dull EXTREMELY fast.
I just don't crank down the tensioning knob very tight. That way the chain doesn't get too tight. The knob isn't going to loosen; that's what those clicks are for; they keep it from unwinding.
Your voice sounded fine through your new mic, at least when played through the built-in speakers of my 10.5 inch Samsung tablet. I just bought a 2.5 kilowatt 18-inch battery chainsaw. I went with Greenworks 60V (54V) X-Range out of concern about the Ego 18's quick adjust. Your review made me feel better about my choice. The Greenworks has no quick adjust. But with a chainsaw that powerful, you're better off without it.
They have recycling for lithium batteries. Maybe they don’t have lithium battery drop off locations in as many locations as they need. I did order the 18” EGO chainsaw. I hope the chain stays reasonably tight. My Stihl Chainsaw loosens up quite a bit during use for sure.
Wow! Y'all go right to minute 18 and then just watch about 3 min. Or the channel owner can say he is going to ramble and rant at the beginning or in the title. Otherwise good info.
I just don't agree. I also had the older 16" model. The chain tightening mechanism is all plastic and it broke on mine. Once it breaks, the whole saw is garbage. You might not like the 18" but at least it lasts. Personally, I have had no problems with mine and I have cut more wood with it than l did with my old, junky 16"
@IndependentThinker74 what I've done is make it common practice to loosen and tighten it every couple of cuts. Doing that has prevented the chain from coming off. But I do appreciate you being respectful in your disagreement.

Anyone idea if the NEW more powerful 16" saw has an improved tensioning system over the 18"?
Sounds good dood
Can a smaller bar size be installed on this EGO chainsaw? A 12" maybe?
Yes you could
When the chain gets hot loosening and retightning it cools it down faster?
Nah, he's loosening and re-tightening every few cuts so the chain doesn't get too loose and fall off.
Having a warm chain doesn't really matter.
Recommend 2.5ah or 5ah battery?
5ah for chainsaw, definitely.
7.5ah is what I use for my CS1800.

The only thing wrong with having two chainsaws; is not having three or four!😁
And really the batteries aren't that expensive 3 to 4 years per battery gas in 4 years costs $8,592
Edit:gas costs $3.50 in Mississippi now
I think I’ve seen you at Charlie’s
Charlie's? I don't think I'm familiar.

No spares back up

Stop hating, you don't know how to operate your tools😂😂😂😂
