Saw it in theaters, and I will say, it's not the usual action filled, big explosions thing most go out to the movies to see.
But it's also a little to old/mature themed for kids.
I think when this comes out on streaming services, it's gonna get ALOT more love.
Like every other Pixar movie
@@MDG-mykys very so i don't know why he comparing them to action movies like movies like these always come out of pixar and are usually well animated with a compelling story pixar really got a decent track record compared to others similar to dreamworks
I'm not really into romance type stuff but it was pretty decent one of the better movies of the year
@@danielcrawford7181 although it doesn't have a big villain/threat/challenge to overcome like some other Pixar movies.
❤
I got 3 morals from this movie:
1. Opposites really do attract. Even two people who would have nothing in common can be the best of friends or the most in love.
2. Never losing sight of what you wanna do in life instead of what others want or expect you to do. Sometimes it takes someone who truly cares for you to remind you of that.
3. Love truly know no boundaries, it can overcome anything. Love is truly worth fighting for if it's meant to be.
The first moral really matches the movie because Wade and Ember are opposites, and they have feelings for each other and in reality, people of different races can attract with the other races no matter what they are or who they look like
I can't read that long
@@sorestyourbones Then you should work on that. Or is your brain unable to process words fast enough?
I would add to that... "learn to make connections with others" within your community, those similarly-minded to you, your family, and yourself... even if they are your spiritual opposite... otherwise you will be empty and lost inside. It's a timeless message, as old as humanity itself, hence the 4 Core Elements of Spirituality, which are personified in the film.
The 3rd moral is a bit of a yes and no. There are certain boundaries of "love" that can't really be overcome. Love between blood relatives, a minor, and an animal. I wouldn't really refer to that as love as why I used the air quotes
Thanks for covering this movie! It made me cry in the cinema (both times I went). Something really interesting to me is that the movie only shows you Ember’s side of the story, when there’s actually way more to it. I got the novel of the movie because I’m obsessed with it, and half the book is actually the story from Wade’s point of view, including scenes from his past, and his relationship with his father. It really showed the untold depth of his character, and I think Wade encouraging Ember to communicate with her father properly is a response to his own past, which is incredibly similar to Ember’s, except that Wade never managed to fix things with his dad before he died. There’s a lot of development of the characters, but we’re only really shown Ember’s part of it in the movie.
Could you give me the full title or maybe even a link to the novel? I can't seem to find it, only the artbook. And reading the story from Wade's perspective sounds really interesting!
I kind want a sequence just to see how their children will look like, I mean, one half water and the other half fire? All of them half water and half fire?
Kids could be made out of steam
Sounds familiar
Prob steam
obsidian
Steam.
I absolutely love this movie so much I’m so glad you did a recapping of it one of my absolute favorite Pixar movies of all time such a shame it bombed at the box office
i agree it's a good movie but it doesn't stand out it's the dime a dozen trope of opposites not meant to be but do anyway that we see a thousand times.
Probably because they decided to release it the same time Spiderman did. It's Disney's fault this time. i think this one is decent.
Its making a comeback though i heard
It's somewhat enjoyable to watch but when it's like a hundredth reiteration of a love story of star-crossed opposites attract, it's predictable, and with the DreamWorks/Pixar formula of "what if ____ but with emotions", yeah, it's bearable at least
It’s made a comeback! I guess movies aren’t dying after all and good movies can still do well
Wow!! Pixar really did their thing and the message about immigrant families and blending into a new place is “chef’s kiss”.
Yeah, cool message, considering Fire immigrant Aka main character literally destroys body parts of various citizens throughout the movie, while also damaging a huge amount of city property
After watching this video and its story i must say its wonderfully good,Sad that most people has higher Expectations nowadays,I think in my Opinion just because it doesn't include something doesn't mean its a bad movie. Sure you want to give fans the big hitters but i think not all the time as they wanted more of it, Perhaps I'm just talking about Superhero Movies. But i think Elemental might be an underrated Disney Classic imo
This explains a lot but the actual movie had many details that moves you and makes it very memorable
Even though you basically showed the entire movie, I’m still going to watch it when it comes out on Disney+
Me too
It’s worth it lol. I saw it in theaters the other night, and it was honestly super adorable. I can’t wait to watch it again.
You these movie apps 123 movies fmovies and gomovies there all on there
Me too
honestly such a good movie. it really is a bummer that it failed as bad as it did because the advertising / promoting team was atrocious, either way, amazing movie imo. generic, but really awesome
I heard it made a comeback. ;)
this movie took the spot of the cringiest movie from the emojis movie.
@@gon7438 And thou beist welcome to thine opinion, but it beist unwelcome here. :)
I saw this film in theaters and loved it. Awesome story and characters. I loved Ember the most.
I’m more of a wade kinda girl but ember is cool too!
What I have been waiting for! Thanks Animation Recapped!
Of course ! :)
Yessss
who else is here because they don't want to actually see the movie?
(And to all those who liked this movie, your opinion is valid, but almost all online reviews would disagree with you.)
I guess 🤣 it seems nice 🙂
Right 🤣 don't need any left wing propeganda
I saw the movie and I actually liked it. Mainly because of the amazing animation

@@askjeevescosby2928 Folk can't even spell propaganda correctly. 💀
Wade Ripple the water element looks like Osmosis Jones the white blood cell.
Omg 😆 your so right.
Lol
Fun fact:the purple fire is the hottest type of fire to be existed, wade was right when he said she was Hot 😂😂😂
What killed this movie's release was /mostly/ the lack of proper promotion.
It was widely promoted
@@MDG-mykysi think he's talkng about how bad the advertising is.. (in my opinion I guess...)
@@Christal_Edits maybe, although personally I don't think there was anything wrong in the promotion, and I don't think much would have changed if people knew what was the film about.
@@MDG-mykys some of people said they're kinda a bit disappointed because of the advertising because of clod...
Ya definitely they did’nt hint at anything other than a romance
Watched it in the cinema not too long ago, still appreciate you bought it out to show it to the world though!
This explains diversity better than any movie I've ever saw
Do other races are an hazard to everyone else because of their nature? Because thqts the movie.
@@spinosaurusstriker they aren't a hazard but they SEE each other as a hazrd just like how white people see black people as thugs and theifs. Also like how white people SEE hispanic immigrants as invasive. They see each other as hazadous but in reality they are just too close minded to see the bigger picture
@@spinosaurusstrikerbecause they are not. Sure they can hurt each other but they don’t naturally harm each other, it’s easy for them to not hurt each other. I mean Wade and Ember can literally hug/ kiss.
@@spinosaurusstrikerno, because the elements don't represent race, but rather the 4 Core Elements of Spirituality, which are unique to humanity as a whole. If you had a special pair of glasses that replaced the Element-people with actual people, you would see every race, religion and ethnicity present within each group of Element-people. The core message is to "make connections" with your community, your family and yourself, even if they're your spiritual opposite. Thus it applies not just to race, but to human-relations as a whole. That's why it's so well done, as it has countless implications to the betterment of humanity. Take care, my friend!
@@historytank5673 eccept the movie shows multiple times how elements can accidentally harm people around them, making discrimination more reasonable in that universe, this doesn’t happen in real life with races.
While watching in theater I told my mother in the moment "the father's mouth is big enough to eat a man whole" I only said this because of how wide his smile gets when he laughs
I guess one could say that "Elemental race ain't nothing but a color!" Love is real and eternal, no matter how piping hot or waterlogged it is! 😂❤
I love it when people narrate whats going on
HOW DID IT GET SO MUCH HATE!?
I WANT A SEQUEL ALREADY!!!
Very well summarized! I've seen it 5 times thus far in theaters, and I think it's one of my top 5 Pixar Films.
I just want to clarify that the elements do not represent a race-allegory, but rather a spiritual one. Specifically, the 4 Core Elements of Spirituality, Air: Free-spirited/care-free, whose opposite is Earth: Steady, stable, structured, Water: Change/adaptability, wishy-wash, whose opposite is Fire: power, in terms of self-reliance, dedication, selflessness, fueled by a burning passion. Air and Water are your Extroverts, while Earth and Fire are your Introverts.
In addition to your core element, everyone possess the other 3, spiritually.... which is why the core message and plot of the film is "learn to make connections" with your community, like-minded individuals, your family, and yourself, even if they are spiritually your polar opposite. That's why it's such a huge deal that Ember is able to connect with her customers in the shop. Also why Gail is so surprised to see Fern is a Windbreaker fan, as that would go against his core Earth personslity... which you can see in the credits-montage, he has quite the enthusiastic Air-side to him... but as for our main characters...
Wade was raised with pure unconditional love from his family. It didn’t matter what job he had, or if he succeeded or failed, he still had their support... which is super toxic, as it is disingenuous. Much like buying your kid everything they ask for, as soon as they ask for it, you must face and overcome a certain level of adversity, for an experience to be truly genuine, or it will leave you hollow and empty. Wade is missing the spiritual elements of Earth and Fire. Cue Ember...
Ember's parents loved and supported her too. But they were selfless... her dad was literally a one-man-army... they left everything behind... rebuilt a house, opened and operated a store, and literally founded the community of Firetown. Through their selfless dedication to the residents of Firetown, and to give Ember the best opportunity possible, her parents inadvertently cast a massive shadow over her to the point where she believes she must uphold and surpass that selflessness, to be worthy of her family's legacy... going as far to say "the only way to repay a sacrifice that great, is to sacrifice your life too" and the saddest part, ties back to the core plot of the film... her parents are experts in communicating with the community of Firetown, but they failed miserably at communicating their expectations of Ember to her... and don't realize that grave mistake until they nearly lose her.
Wade teaches Ember how to connect with everyone around her, and herself... he showed her how to live. In return Ember gave Wade the first genuine connection he'd ever experienced, despite her messiness... or rather, because of it. They fill the spiritual voids in eachothers lives, or, to put it another way... fix their leaky pipes.
It is such a wholesome story, executed so beautifully. Yes, it's familiar... no, it doesn't do anything you haven't seen in film before... but my goodness, if this isn't one of the most wholesome films Pixar has ever made.
Though it is a rom-com, I cannot recommend it for kids under 8, because it is fairly serious, with little comedic relief after the first act. Overall, I'd give it an 8/10... it's not Pixar's best, nor their typical blockbuster... but my goodness is it beautiful... I absolutely love it!
They could be using the spiritual connection as a message, to look beyond the physical racisms of the world, connect as a soul to another soul.
Also psychological connections. I especially love the fire girl blowing up nature, him being the one that calms her, etc. This really is one of the situations where people should NOT judge this by the cover. A quick look at the poster or some scenes does not portray what the movie is really about. Not by a long shot.
Which is why some people misunderstand and walk away from it.
@@WoozyCool That's 110% correct. The 4 Core Elements of Spirituality are the driving force behind all human psychology and interaction. As such, it encompasses everything from racism and homophobia, to sibling rivalry, to whether or not an Introvert can get along with an extrovert. It is the very foundation by which all fundamental principles of human-interaction are laid, and if someone is racist, or otherwise unaccepting, or discriminatory, or even just socially isolated... it would signify they do not have an understanding of the 4 Core Elements of Spirituality, and thus are not whole. It truly is an incredible all-encompassing umbrella of an idea, that essentially is about "everything" allowing people to see what they need to see. It could be racism, or it could simply be someone struggling to make friends... either would be acceptable applications for the theory. That's why the core message of the film, and the plot, is "make connections" to become spiritually whole.
Take care my friend!
The Director has literally stated its a race allegory. but hey i liked your fiction better than his lol.@@justafan5179

Nobody likes anything anymore
People are just miserable and want to be overly critical for no reason

Imagine you mind being s so consoomer filled that your start to despise everyone who doesn’t consume the same as you. Pathetic.
Is just like Mario movie all over again
How is this better to watch in a recap video rather than watching it in the actual movies
Who expected wade to say the word “moist”?
That ending is wholesome
Ok your kinda right on the ( they refuse to get along)
Part of the title.
But there one problem with it that doesn’t make it correct,
You should say they are racist to each other.
Or
All the elements live in one city. And they cannot mix. But two different elements fell in love anyways.
Or something like that.
I mean come on, if they really hated each other. Why in the heck would they live in one big city? I know there different sections in the city. Fire town for example. But that still near the city, and other elements go to fire town, so I don’t think we should separate fire town for element city. I think fire town is a town that’s a part of a city,
Ya know like China town in San Francisco, I been there one time. Cool place.
9:04 also…perfect timing on the freeze there. I wish you use this image as the tumbnail
Race is only ONE of the things that differentiate people from each other, there are more.
And it is common for people who hate each to live in one big city. It really is how it is in a lot of countries. Often turns
People of different class groups, different races, different castes, different languages/countries despite being same race, different cultures, etc, live together in one place.
-different religions in one place being the pride of my nation, in reality, they destroy each other, bomb temples vs churches vs mosques, a toxic cycle-
Where I'm from (India, second largest population) the caste and classism are bigger than racism issues. Especially classism, one might say, is a huge issue through majority of Asian countries, making it way bigger than racism in terms of total percent of population in the world that face the said issue (classism war / racism war).
Hence "they refuse to get along" would bracket both racism and classism and many more issues based on factors that differentiate people from each other.
@@WoozyCool nice comment. I was talking about the theme of the movie. I get that it’s because of racism and other stuff that I have a hard time understanding. Am not racist. Am just have a hard time understanding different types of racism, I know what racism is.
And I do appreciate this movie’s messages on racism, and how it change over the years. But there are some people out there that are racist. And that’s not cool, thanks for the comment though.
Guess they can make Elemental 2 for Glass Making :D Can't wait in the future though.
