    What a privilege to watch you do this. I wish there was a group doing the six simultaneously so that there could be a grand unveiling.

      Thank you so much for watching! And I love the idea of simultaneous stitching - that’s a stitch-along with a big reveal at the end!

    Thank you for such a nice peek into the Lady and Unicorn pieces. It was enough to pique my curiosity and I will delve further into these lovely tapestries. As far as the realization that a project will take decades to complete, and the understanding that you don’t have or want to spend decades on something, I personally have been vicariously stitching a piece through a floss-tuber named Kelly, from the Animal Instincts channel. She is stitching an adaptation of Firefly from Jey Parks. It is a Gecko Rouge chart and it has something in the neighborhood of three quarters of a million stitches. It is absolutely gorgeous and if I wasn’t already in my middle 50’s, I might have considered it, but instead I follow Kelly’s progress and enjoy feasting my eyes on her progress each episode that includes Firefly. It’s the best I can do. Maybe one piece, stitched, and a framed print of the others? It won’t be quite the same but may still provide the visual satisfaction.

      I love that you fell into the Lady and the Unicorn history rabbit hole just like I have!
      Yes, it was a sad realization to know that I won’t complete all of them myself, but the ones I do stitch will be treasured items in my home. I might pick one or two more to do, but we shall see. Maybe this will be a lifetime obsession!
      Thank you so much for watching and connecting! ❤

    When I use my scroll frame, the same exact one you are using, with the webbing, I use a sewing machine set to the highest stitch length (a 6 on my machine) to secure my fabric. It provides a nice even tension. The scroll system isn’t perfect, as it does loosen over time, but sewing the fabric on does even things out better than hand basting. It took me about 15 years to figure that out. So if you have, or can access, a sewing machine, try that to improve the tension.

    I am so very proud of you Liv! That is one of my favorite tapestries because of the Unicorn. My mom bought a beautiful unicorn kit for me that is embroidery, decades ago. I still have sealed and still want to make one fine day. I'm 68 so I'd better get moving! 😊 You inspire me❤

    • @LongLivTheStitcher
      @LongLivTheStitcher  Рік тому +1

      That’s awesome! I hope you do break open that kit and enjoy stitching the unicorn. Sometimes I try to think just about starting a new piece and the joy of stitching it, rather than just the finish. Maybe that’s why I have so many WIPs haha! 😂
      Thank you so much for connecting!

    I too have had the privilege of sitting in the Cluny mesmerized by these tapestries. There is a novel by Tracy Chevalier called The Lady and the Unicorn which imagines what it was like to work on them. Your work is beautiful.

      I’m so glad you know that magical moment, sitting and just taking them in. I feel that same magic when I stop stitching to take in the project’s progress.

    This was so enjoyable to watch! My 12-yr old self in the 1980s was obsessed with unicorns and I still love them, even now…. I have two full-coverage pieces (from Heaven and Earth Designs) started- one of them a Supersize max color piece that is 999 x 714 and uses 238 colors- but have taken a few months of break from them to stitch on smaller “regular” cross stitch pieces. You have inspired me to do an all-day stitching marathon, and get back into it. I also tried (and abandoned) two-handed stitching; do you really think it gives you a noticeable increase in you stitching speed? Thanks again for your inspiration!

    • @LongLivTheStitcher
      @LongLivTheStitcher  Рік тому

      Thank you so much for watching and connecting! I love that you went into a huge project flurry - amazing!
      And yes, I think two-handed stitching increase my speed a lot. Probably not double, but it’s a significant increase for sure. I really notice the difference when I go back to one handed on other projects. I highly recommend it!

      @@LongLivTheStitcher thanks for your reply! it just seems so darned awkward, lol. But I stitched on that project over the long holiday weekend and I really tried to use two-handed the majority of the time (got approx. 950 stitches progress, not counting the frogging / re-stitching, lol) . Hopefully it will get easier. Thank you again for your inspiration!!

      Ooooooh that’s such a good idea! That’s what I love about the flosstube community - different creativity applied to the same simple art. I might try that when I start some of the other designs. Thank you!

    Hi Olivia, my first time watching you. Your project is beautiful. What type of floor stand is that? I like the way the frame just lays on the bars. Thanks

    • @LongLivTheStitcher
      @LongLivTheStitcher  Рік тому

      Thank you so much for watching! The floor stand is great, and a game changer for its flexibility for scroll frame projects. It’s so easy to just pick up a scroll frame and slap it on the stand, so I can change projects very easily.
      Here’s the frame I purchased on Amazon:

    What kind of stand are you using? I bought a Monstrik but it has a huge footprint and I don’t like it. It takes up so much space. Your stand looks lovely and compact. I absolutely adore your project too. It’s so beautiful and vibrant.

    • @LongLivTheStitcher
      @LongLivTheStitcher  Рік тому

      Thank you so much! I’m just obsessed with it, even after stitching on it for 2.5 years already.
      I hear you about the stand footprint; mine is huge, too. That’s my one complaint. It’s so large that it’s literally a piece of furniture in my living room.
      Here’s the link to it:

    Hi, my name is Marion. I'm a very senior citizen and I was surprised to see your video...I think UA-cam listens to me as my husband and i were just discussing a new pattern.lol. I have three of the Cluny tapestries (large versions) mostly finished. I did them on 18 count canvas rather than aida. I wondered what your fabric was. I visited the museum in Paris in 1991, but saw representations of medieval tapestries in New York at the Museum in the Cloisters in 1972 while I was at university. The sense of hearing took me five years to complete. Are you doing cross stitch or embroidery stitch? I did the first two, A mon seul desire and sense of smell in embroidery stitch, but they are skewed because I stitched them in hand and have not blocked them. My husband is getting me the pattern for 'touch' stitch count 553 x 580, for Christmas. I am an optimist and intend to finish it, but the time constraints are getting iffy. I tried the app, but technology defeats me. I'm hoping my granddaughter expresses an interest in learning how to stitch. Anyway, it was really nice to watch your video and look forward to seeing more of your work.

      Hello Marion! Thank you so much for watching and connecting with me! It’s incredible to hear how the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries touch the lives of those who see them; that’s the definition of masterpiece art, in my opinion. I’m hopeful to do as you have: complete at least three. But we’ll see!
      I’d love to see your work, if you’ve shared it anywhere. Thanks again for reaching out! ❤

      I got it on Amazon, and I think the seller also lists it on Etsy. It’s very sturdy and moldable to fit whatever I’m working on, both hoop and scroll frames!

    That was really fun and something I haven't seen on flosstubes before. I love how you became smitten with a piece of art and you were eager to replicate it. I have felt that way in the past but haven't pursued it past the idea.
    I would enjoy to see closer up photos of the stitches, and to watch how you work on the frame itself using a 2 handed method.

      Thank you for watching! I post lots of close-up pics on my Instagram account (same name as my channel here), and I’ve heard a few requests for a two-handed stitching demo. I’m putting it on my Flosstube list.
      You should definitely stitch art that you love! It’s rewarding and a source of joy every time I pick it up. ❤
