Great review pal. That’s the exact van I took delivery of 4 weeks ago. Pure grey, high line 150 bhp DSG, LWB with a good few bells and whistles including 20 “ Matt black wheels. Mine was £41,500 which is a lot I know but believe me these vans are excellent . This is my fourth transporter . No other vans come close 👍
I am still running a 54 plate Kombi 2.5 T5 with 265K on the clock one owner [ me ] paid £14K for it. A/C Rear heater bench seat in rear. 1 Turbo, 3 drive shafts . Still on same exhaust , battery , alternator , starter . Been a great van but cant justify £30K + for a new van that wont do any thing the old bus cant . Good review bud
Yeah I guess my main point is, if someone were to buy a new one, in 18 years time it would probably still be great just as yours is. Thanks for the comment 💪
My place I work has a Renault Transit 2012 that my boss spend 10.000 Euros on the particle filter that brakes every two years, and 15.000 Euros on the clutch that brakes almost every two years. The Turbo repair cost us 1500 Euros one time. Injectors cost another 1800 Euros one time. Never ever buy a Renault.
I know the mk 5 caddy has loads of new standard upgrades and a new golf platform...and good sound deadening.. Its important to get a factory fitted high spec as like you say it holds its money welll when you come to sell... But still the mk4 is a true caddy compaired to the mk5 ..
Imma about to get a last delivery MIlage high line t6.1 as contract lease for business originally wanted to stick with caddies but no choice to go for a t6 due commercial issues ie if I get a combi it means I can’t get it on contract hire but another lease which ends me in big trouble ie BIK which isn’t a route I want to end on so T6.1 which has 3 seats should suffice
I was just looking yesterday, In Ireland at least i can spec the T6.1 panel van with the "Digital cockpit and Driver alert system", but to get that i must also spec the " Navigation system Discover Media Pro with 9.2 inch touch screen, then i have to spec the "comfort dashboard", starts to get a little expensive but definitely a very nice upgrade
This is my van in the video, and as I explained to Josh, you cant get the Transporter panel van with the VC, only the Caravelle. I dont have the discover pro, I really wish I went for it because ive had a 6.1 as a courtesy vehicle with it, and it massively lifts the cabin. you can get the virtual cockpit retro fitted in the UK even in the panel vans like this, but ill need to install a discover pro unit, so its all going to very very expensive, not sure its actually worth it.
I’m heading in this direction, I’ve had a transit custom for 4 years now, it’s a nice van to look at and drive but it’s costing me a lot of dough to keep it on the road! 😡
Picking up a sportline on wednesday delivery miles only , they will be the last ones so yeah should be a good investment & still the best looking van on the road
Found this after the T7 was shown, no T7 cargo van just a multi and the T6.1 will be sold alongside it as the cargo variant as the next cargo van is being built by Ford in Turkey at the Transit plant. Sounds like they're going to have two or 3 platforms to choose from in the next year or two.
It's not the T7 commercial vehicle. Because vans are so popular, vs are splitting the caravelle as the new Combo which we have seen, but that is not a replacement for this T6.1, its why it is not called the "transporter". The next Transporter like this won't be here until 2025, and it will be a Ford VW product. That Kombi you are referring to is easiest described as a Sharran replacement.
I have the very van, albeit the kombi version. It is awesome. Tows a large single axle caravan like a dream. Dont waste your money on the 204 4motion version!!! The 150 DSG Highline has it all. 4 motion is a waste of money unless you plan on being in muddy fields on a regular basis.
Mines a 204DSG 4 motion. Having been stuck on muddy grassy fields a few times it was the only choice. And when you want to bomb across Europe quickly….this is the one! Had them all from T2 to T6. Love them.
Can some people drop some comments about the DSG automatic? I am thinking about buying one that is build in September 2021 with 28000 kilometers. I am going to pull a trailer some times and have about 400 kilos on bord all the time.
I’ve been interested in buying a van to convert so it’s comfortable to sleep in & also carry passengers, full width rock n roll bed & maybe a cupboard unit behind the seats. Been doing a lot of research & it’s got to be a VW Transporter, the best deals seem to be from main dealers around 1 or 2 years old but I have pretty much decided that it would be a waste of money because when the diesel ban comes it’ll probably be worthless. I would really like to know your opinion on what you think is likely to happen when the ban comes & would I be better off buying an older van?
As with all emissions changes they will indroduce the ban on manufacturing and it will be incremental so as it won't hit the existing consumers. You might pay a little more emmisions tax but I don't think they will outright ban the use of your van. That being said, high emmisions zones are already being effected, but who wants to go through London city in a camper van 🤷♀️(even though you could with a T6 euro 6 onwards) . I don't think for one minute emmisions zones have effected the price of a split screen which wouldn't be able to go through the emmisions zone 💪 Good luck on your search, you won't go wrong with a VW 👍
I currently own a 40 year old land rover series 3 2.25 petrol. Its registered as a historical vehicle so is now tax free, mot exempt and clean air zone exempt.
Ireland and various other locations seem to be offering them however in the UK you can't spec a van with them. Do you have a caravelle or a variant that is different to just a standard van?
I just sold my 2008 T5 after owning it for 10 years.
And sold it for more than I bought it for. :)
These things hold their value like crazy.

This was 31.5k ex vat, SWB. Got 8% off for some reason? It’s my first van and I love it. They are amazing!
Just taken delivery of my T6.1 and went down the same thought process and conclusion as you. Great video!

thanks for being real, an honest review and exactly what I wanted to hear! I will be buying one for sure
Just ordered my Transporter 6.1 Highline today. January delivery!!! Should be worth the wait.
Was a good day out. Amazing weather and very scenic. Thanks Josh!

I just got my new 4motion love it just going off to Austria monday for full camper conversion oh paid€ 39k
Just had my clutch go in mine at below 10,000 miles.

4 motion drives very differently on the tarmac too. Better handling and no front wheel steer. I much prefer it.
The New 2022 Volkswagen T7 has been teased ahead of a full reveal soon
Which will be the same as the Ford transit custom
This didnt happen
Always had a new transporter every 3 years but they are so expensive now and there are better vans out there
thinking about getting a van. whats better than a vw
@vanster there isn't any just get a transporter
I bought a 05 T5 Kombi 2.5 brand new for £14K plus VAT 300K miles just sold it for £7K.
Not bad really
I'd love one 😎

What is dis van like on diesel
I get between 42 and 50MPG depending on load and what type of roads I’m on. Lowest if had out of it is 38 around town. Incredibly good on fuel.
T5.1 180 best I’ve ever got is 38mpg averages 32.4 and drops to 27 around town. If those numbers are to believed then i’m impressed!
Do you recommend them

germany just rejected the EU's ridicolous 2035 diesel/petrol ban and many others will follow
Indonesia 🇮🇩 ♥👍mr, is it 4wd and diesel engines ?
I’m looking at the 110ps lwb anyone know if there like a snail or quick enough
Nice van,but the rear mud flaps look out of place, looks like a 5 year old stuck them on with superglue
Yep, I did think this. They are all like it, and they serve a purpose at least.
It didn't work on my golfr
The only thing that worries me about buying such an expensive van is it’s diesel 😮
Why?
Is the steering wheel adjustable
Yes, as is the T6
Miles per gallon
Can these vans tow a heavy caravan well? If so what bhp would you recommend?
No way , 2 litre only.
Yes it can towing capacity 2200kg

Man tge 4x4 the van of all vans don’t be sucked into the transporter bull 💩
The man tge is a crafter, which is a bigger transporter. So yeah I'd agree the tge is a good van, but for all the same reasons the transporter is.
