    Garrett Giuffre Yeah, but once you make the power it's not getting to the ground without breaking things. I wouldn't necessarily just throw axles at it and hope for the best. When you're looking at properly upgrading the rear, it would cost thousands.

      Custom steel has a true fix kit...for 5G Mine is getting headers, cam and ported heads, going for 450wheel after the hop kit, as long as I dont launch or rag on it, should be fine, once I get my Gen II, Ill throw the CS kit in it.

    To be honest, i check both, Almost stop my choice on 2005 GTO and then try G8 GT, same power, plenty of room, cost not to much for mods, nice looking car, limited slip diff, I just add CAi, ARH headers and tune it's a solid daily driver.Very happy with my G8. BTW nice review

    • @BigKleib34

      Thanks! I would've looked into G8s when I got the goat, but they were still substantially more expensive at that point.

    Expensive to modify? What are you smoking??
    As you said in the beginning of the video, that car has a excellent set of factory heads on it!
    Adding a good size cam and you're well over 400whp. Even people in California could get away with a small cam and make more power.
    Going to the biggest issue with the V "wheel hop" good rubber and a upgraded axles which are under $500 solve that problem.
    The V is a excellent Sports Car with a muscle car attitude!

    A little late. I found an 05 V that's built. Pushing around 550whp. Dudes rich and is bored as fuck with the car and hes selling it for $8500. If he is pushing 550whp and the diff is still holding up, think the diff has been replaced? And is it a good price for that car even in 2018.

    I was looking at videos related to the 1st gen CTS-V and came across yours. I liked your review of the CTS-V, as well as your comparison of the Caddy to the GTO. Amusingly enough I own an '04 GTO which has done some daily driver duty, though my '98 Firebird generally serves as my bad weather driver (nicer weather I have a 2013 Ducati Monster 1100EVO 20th Ann. that I ride). My wife and I are currently looking into an LS6 powered CTS-V to replace her daily driver. They're both excellent cars, though they can be costly to maintain. There isn't a day that goes by that I regret buying my GTO, even after more than 6 years of ownership. Now I just need to talk my wife into letting me get a C6 Z06, LOL!

    I am looking at an 05 GTO 6spd I have been offered to trade. It has 130k miles on it which I think isnt too bad if the guy has taken care of it. My one concern in the price of insurance, what did you pay on yours just for something I can go off of if I try to buy the car? Also is there anything else I really should worry about on a GTO?

    My coworker has a 2006 cts v. It does have a salvage title. 147k on body and 85k on motor. He has only cold air intake. Its not excellent but good condition. He is offering to sell to me for $6500. What do you guys think is it a good deal? My original plan was to find a 98 to 2002 trans am or camaro. Preferably with bolt ons. I'm in the saving up $ stage so just wanted feedback from owners of cts v's and f body. Reliability and cost of ownership. Not concerned with fuel costs more concerned with reliability and cost to maintain

    • @armaggedon4christ

      Those 98-00 LS1s had oil starvation issues, not always but its something to watch for. Both are great cars, only thing to watch for on a salvage title, is the subframe and body true still, does an alignment hold and does the back whine.

    Hmm... I've owned my 05 V for over 4 years now. I've put about 40k miles on it. Besides from changing the diff bushing, a fixed alternator, and regular oil changes... That's all that's been needed. The car is now 11years old. With just under 80k miles there are no obvious signs of anything wrong with the car. Things go wrong when you start modding. Pretty much the best car I've ever owned. Problems with the rearend going out is because people launch them. Its a family sedan. 4k lbs worth. Could GM had put a beefier one in, of course. But since they didnt ,dumbasses need to stop giving the car a bad name. Its still very underrated, and is just as expensive as any other LS car. GO buy a GTO, or a G8 and you'll come out with the same result. Your wallet will be just as light. I'm not a fan of the other body styles so I went with the V. Pick your poison, but this guy is reviewing a decade old vehicle. Any car pushing 100k miles will have problems. Plus I don't think GM thought this was gonna be a tuner car. Just sayin

    • @armaggedon4christ
      @armaggedon4christ 6 років тому

      Short story V2 is superior in every way.
      Long story: GM learned from their mistakes of the V1, this time mating a LS9 derived engine, to a stout transmission, either the 6L90, or a T6060. Then they proceeded to put a nearly bulletproof differential in the V2, the V2's weakpoint is its axles, I believe this is by design as they are more than strong enough to take a tune and quite a bit of boltons, also in the Auto the transmission is a slight weak link, but D3 sells a 1kWHP kit for it for a very good price.

    I don't know how knowegeable you are when I comes to imports but I am an all around car enthusiasts looking for a daily driver. I live in a state where we get a lot of rain as well so I personally though they are two completely different beasts have narrowed it down to a first gen CTSV or, and I know I'm going to get crap for this from the all American GM fan boys but I was also considering an EVO 8. I know I can make over 400awhp with an Evo all day long and be happy with all wheel drive madness but will I be happy with the power the CTSV has? You say it's hard to make more power out of one? How hard is it really to make more power? I mean from what I've heard the sky is the limit when it comes to LS platforms I'm just curious why you say it's not easily modified to make big numbers? Also how hard is it to make a V take a corner? Would it be as simple as some decent coilovers and an anti hop bar oh and of course sticky tires? Thanks for your time!

    • @BigKleib34
      @BigKleib34  9 років тому

Looking into one right now 2006 with 83k miles on it for about 13ish thousand which seems pretty good from a dealer too. Do you believe this is decent mileage to build off? last owner had it for 4 straight years so i imagen its been well maintained. he's had it since 30k besides the obv probs and its coming from far away so i wouldn't be able to check it out (although its a reputable dealer who's done many out of state sales) but its primarily for a daily build i want to do please let me know ur opinion thanks
