Credit to the coaching staff for finding a way to maximize the talents of players like Iffy. They need to be this good to overcome the staggering losses on D.
I agree CD3 was having a great year and was an important part of the defense. Losing him, especially after all the other injuries was a real gut punch. Getting Iffy back now is so important. He finished last year on a roll and has a chance to do it again this year. I hope he’s around for a long time.
Lions do 1 on 1 drills in practice, not just training camp but every week in practice. Iffy was destroying people in blitz drills, AG said something like 90% of reps he was winning. So they wanted to give him a shot and see if he can grow in other areas.
Are Lions fans excited to see Iffy back? VERY much yes! Without Barnes, Iffy, and Davis, we’ve been asking Branch to fill in for our missing pieces instead of going out there and being himself! Give Aaron Glenn some more talent in the secondary and watch the magic! (I love you Kindle Vildor, but more so on Special Teams)
Thank you for the breakdown. Yes, I like that Iffy is back in the fold. He makes a difference when he is on the field, and has to be accounted for by other teams when he is healthy. 2025 he is a free agent, so the Lions will need to figure out what they are going to do, but I would like to see him come back at the right price like at a 4 million/year valuation or so. He also has been injured, so availability should play a little bit into the contract negotiation.
I'm glad Iffy is back, and hopefully we can keep him, he's a great weapon for the D. And I agree with the Amik take, he's been making big open field tackles in run or screen plays.
If Iffy contributes 75% of what he did at the end of last season, he could be the difference maker in making and winning the Super Bowl, especially with Barnes out for the season
19:42 i was a bit surprised how active he was in directing the secondary. Showed great command for first game back. Im with you. I hope to hell we get him back. Hell be a free agent. Hes my favorite defender on the team even tho i own a branch jersey 😊
Iffy is a huge chess piece for AG, as is the return of Jalen Reeves-Maybin. Both are long, flexible pieces needed in pass/run defense, eho can blitz the QB & play ST. Our defense only gets stronger as the season winds down. Look for Holmes to add a vet DE for depth! I'm glad you see what a difference Iffy can make! He played CB @Syracuse, so he has ball skills and can be effective vs. TEs & RBs in coverage but tackles well against the run from a small LB spot. But remember, he is 6-3, 209 and a great fit in a 3 safety look that shifts Branch to the nickel. Recall that in last yrs game, their OC went to 12 personnel tp keep BB off the field. Now, you would never have to with the Davis injury moving Amik outside (where he was very effective for the Raiders last yr). I think the 3 S look could be our base level secondary look going forward. 🤔🎙❤️👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you coach for another great video and this is another one I really wanted to see content on If and we do know how important he is we've seen that when he got into the game turn down to last year
Iffy is like a heat seeking missile; he comes in quickly and unexpectedly although on Sunday he got into the pocket but couldn't find the quarterback but the other time he did.
Even if the Detroit defense was healthy Iffy would make a difference. He can blitz like a strong safety or LB yet cover like a CB. He is a sure tackler so having him at safety leaves Branch free to do more. Iffy made an impact in the Bears game, he will be even better by the playoffs. With all the injuries, he is an instant upgrade. Just when the Lions needed that kind of help the most.
The lions have been traditionally very cautious with players ocming off IR usually running their 21 day clock down to last day before activating. I was worried iffy would take a few weeks even tho it was just a finger injury. But i was so thrilled when i saw him as full practice hesding into the game.
Coach, you are the very best at what you do. Nobody, I mean nobody does what he do in presenting top notch insights about the Lions. You are much appreciated. I, too, am very interested in your thoughts on TA, but what I really want is insight into our running woes the last few games. I began noticing it three or four games ago. A lot of very short or no gains on crucial downs. I suspect it is the OL. But it seems to be pretty dramatic. There must be a reason(s), but have not see anyone talk about it.
Malifonwu is In his last season in Detroit unfortunately as for long he went back to his old team and didn't pass the physical so I don't know what that was about a great video
15:01 dan did address it indirectly during monday presser. Said terrion made a mistake there so musta been a full quarters coverage abd maybe thats why iffy was hyperfocused on the te route instead of being concerned about covering terrion deep.
They’re playing “quarter man”. Man everywhere but the safeties are playing quarters read responsibility. They play it a lot and it’s a good defense to play with good safeties but either way, that play is 100% on Arnold. Arnold should never try to jump an out like that when he’s supposed to be outside leverage
You are correct. Iffy is in his 4th year on a rookie contract. He is a UFA in 2025. I don't think the Lions will let him go. He will get offered a fair market deal, and hopefully no one will offer him ridiculous money. He is talented. He just can't seem to stay healthy.
CD 3 was playing well The only thing holding Iffy back has been health grumblings about his willingness to play nicked up and every body gets nicked up
Iffy is great, but man, he's gotta stay on the field. I don't know if the Lions will have enough native pass rush to win it all, but Melifonwu can certainly help with that. Man, this D misses Hutchinson. He being gone makes one appreciate his play-to-play presence
Having Iffy back should allow the Lions to move Branch and Robertson around a bit more for the flexibility and depth we are going to need in the secondary now that Davis is out for the season. I think it would be great to bring him back, but there needs to be some balance/compromise between what he brings to the table (which I love) and his lengthy injury history. He's only suited up for 1game this year, and last year was his only (relatively) healthy year. I would hope the Lions don't end up paying top-safety money for a guy who at times is simply unavailable to play for significant stretches of seemingly every season.
Branch and Kerby started the year on fire but the last 5 games or so haven’t played very well. They both have been way behind plays and not covering great. To many plays were the safety hasn’t helped when needed. Amek and CD3 was the bright spots the last few weeks before injury. If the Lions don’t resign Iffy this offseason I’ll be really disappointed. When he plays he sacks the QB and makes big plays.
You may be right about Kirby and BB, but I wonder how much of that maybe having to do with third string LB and second string CB. Maybe they have some additional burdens now they didn’t have before the front seven were decimated by injuries.
On the 2 iso plays, one big difference is how much better levi plays the second one. On the first, the tackle got moved 4 yards. Z did handle kmet much better.
If we get Davis back by the playoffs personally I would bench Terrain Arnold. He will be good next year but it's obvious he is gonna struggle the rest of this year to me and he could cost us a playoff game.
Melifonwu is a dynamic player in the secondary. Glad hes healthy.
I've been saying from the beginning of the season that we were really missing Iffy out there. So glad he's back!!
Credit to the coaching staff for finding a way to maximize the talents of players like Iffy. They need to be this good to overcome the staggering losses on D.
Iffy was my personal favorite defensive player last year. I am thrilled that he is back!
Thanks!

Iffy is the blitz god of dbs. Nobody gets to the qb better
His timing is elite
Lol’d at ‘Swift does his own stumblebum’
Every week, the Lions will get a body back. Every week, they will get a bit stronger...
Iffy is the bomb. He got to Caleb so fast on that 1st possession. Just took a bad angle.
Great breakdown, also happy to have you show Iffy’s value to this Lion’s ! Sharing and Waiting for more Coach!!!
Coach! Thanks for all you do! The way you present information is much appreciated and separates you from others who cover the Lions.

I think Anzelone is who we need the most. Running backs are killing us out of the backfield.

IFFY REALY IS OUR SECRET WEAPON ON DEFENSE... HE CHANGED THINGS UP BIGTIME AT END OF THE SEASON LAST YEAR
This is the video I was hopping for. Thanks coach! Ifeatu!! Congrats on coming back and having a sack in your 1st game back!

I love having Iffy back, he can play at all 3levels of the Defense. Staying healthy is he's main concern.
Hey we understand just what we were missing, thank you so much for covering his return.
Looking forward the the piece on TA. Keep up the good work coach!
Iffy is a beast
Iffy is a play maker no doubt. Important return for our defense
Thank you coach for another great video and this is another one I really wanted to see content on If and we do know how important he is we've seen that when he got into the game turn down to last year
Iffy’s a stud.
I'm really glad that Melifonwu is back. He's an solid player. I hope they can keep him.

I love how the very first play of the game they sent Iffy on a blitz.
He’s their best back 7 blitzer. He can be adequate covering TEs, and is a physical tackler. His biggest downfall is staying available to play.
Go Lions!! Iffy will get an INT this week
Malifonwu is In his last season in Detroit unfortunately as for long he went back to his old team and didn't pass the physical so I don't know what that was about a great video
Another great video. Thank you!
1:13 understatement. He was the highest rated CB since week 8 or 9 until injury
I am aware. In fact, when he was acquired, my video was criticized for being too optimistic.
15:01 dan did address it indirectly during monday presser. Said terrion made a mistake there so musta been a full quarters coverage abd maybe thats why iffy was hyperfocused on the te route instead of being concerned about covering terrion deep.

Those fumbles were explosive. Back to back.
Keep on forgetting you’re not a Detroit lions guy lol appreciate everything you’re doing
Carlton Davis was playing lights ! The drop off between him and any other corner is a stark contrast . We need him back !!!
You are correct. Iffy is in his 4th year on a rookie contract. He is a UFA in 2025. I don't think the Lions will let him go. He will get offered a fair market deal, and hopefully no one will offer him ridiculous money. He is talented. He just can't seem to stay healthy.
You might as well be a Lions channel atp love from Michigan
Right on schedule 😂😂😂
HUTCHS DAD AND MY MOM WORK TOGETHER AT HOSPITAL HE TOLD HER HUTCH SHOULD BE BACK BY NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HE IS VERY DETERMINED
Well he has already said he would play in the Superbowl
Finally, some coverage 😅
CD 3 was playing well
The only thing holding Iffy back has been health grumblings about his willingness to play nicked up and every body gets nicked up

Dope content
I said when iffy was activated hed get a sack

Keenan Allen is a joke. All he cares is about himself. Dude was celebrating every catch like it meant something when they were down 3 TD'S 😆.
Whole team a joke from tyrique stevenson dirty playing style to over hyped caleb, swift well we let him.go for a reason
Yea he was talking crazy the first game too 😂😂 he must don’t know who run the north
He’s mad cuz he’s bald af already
I'd be surprised if Aron Glenn doesn't get a head coaching job next year.
5:35 i get the feeling you dont think highly of the bears wrs 😂😏
I have a feeling that if Aaron Glenn gets a head coaching job iffy will go with him
Coach, his first name is pronounced like E-Fah-Too, if you care.
22:28 nope hes not an all star but hes an all world x factor imo
If we get Davis back by the playoffs personally I would bench Terrain Arnold. He will be good next year but it's obvious he is gonna struggle the rest of this year to me and he could cost us a playoff game.
And replace him with whom?
@daveh1869 I'd keep iffy out there and keep Amik Roberson on the outside.
@ Got you.
