Its wonderful how coke studio is evolving! Its season 15 and they have done the tracks in studio with a full orchestra to death. Other coke studio brands like Bangla are young and going through the initial steps, so the traditional studio songs. Coke Studio Pakistan is the trail blazer as always! Punjabi is the language of the largest group of people of the Subcontinent and its beautiful to see it being sung in Coke Studio! ❤

Mostly people r critical of this season as there is more punjabi songs but i think as coke studio is a commercial project and punjabi sells easily so that maybe the reason this song also get a lot of criticism and ur right this def grows on u

Almost half of Pakistan is Punjabi, historically Urdu has been promoted much more which is sad.

@@pappu33And Punjabi as well. They have done enough songs for one season in Punjabi in my opinion, they should give other languages a chance as well. Punjab is just one part of Pakistan out of it's 5 provinces.

11:10, Individual stories are just as much part of a nation's culture. 2am, O Yaara, Jhol are about personal journeys so they're still relevant to the "Sound of the nation" slogan. Plus the videos tell a visual story that fits in with the specifically Pakistani narrative, whether it's an inner city neighbourhood in 2am, an artistic street in O Yaara, or the Jazz clubs that historically existed in Karachi and inspired the video of Jhol. They're all valid national stories. I don't think each song has to be presented with an overtly ethnic theme, CS never came out with a specific theme for this season, they never have. They're highlighting national stories and those can take on many forms and stil manage to resonate with people around the globe.

Of the past two seasons... This may be the track I disliked the most. This feels like such a filmy/bollywood style song... And that is the exact opposite of what I've loved about coke studio .
I expected this season to be more commercial than ever, but this one song just jumps so far past what coke studio to me represents. This just felt like a song and a music video.... You don't need the coke studio platform to create that. Coke studio is supposed to be masters of their craft on a stage at the same time in never-forseen collaborations fusing styles and genres.... This was just a song...

Yes, partially agree! However coke studio still stands for good music as well and this song is really great musically (subjective opinion). This song could have been a simple studio shot video but probably Coke Studio is trying to elevate the experience and this could be one of the experimentations. It is always extremely tough to overcome the standard that has been set (specifically after season 14).

@@LetsTalkAboutIt-Reactions maybe it's saying something that "experimentation" for coke studio is putting out what would otherwise be "typical" for like a bollywood/lollywood production. Every coke studio production, from strictly a production standpoint, is top notch audio from a technical standpoint. But that isn't all what one tunes into coke studio for.
Coke studio has always offered more than just sound - whether it be insightful lyrics like 2am, a rich cultural sharing of regions that don't get mainstream coverage like ayi ayi or harkalay, amazing cinematic work of a one take production (like all other songs under the xulfi belt for cs) or artists pushing their artistic and technical capabilities (as often showcased in previous coke studio seasons, especially those produced by Rohail Hyaat) - coke studio has always offered more than a well produced audio experience.
I know this season is meant to be more commercial and mainstream to appeal to the everyman, and I feel like coke studio this season has really been tip-toeing that line, but I've still been able to walk away with something from the songs this season. This one... I got nothing. Take away the coke studio name and you could have easily told me that this was a bollywood production and I wouldn't know better.
And this song IS the exception for me, the one that I just can't get behind... And maybe it is just experimentation, seeing if they can produce more cinematic ready pieces... I think it's OK for us to tell coke studio that the experiment failed.
I think you guys do a great job of analyzing songs... And I just felt there was a dichotomy here with your explanation of why this songs is brilliant (which if I were to sum it up in one word - Maanu) and your attempt to further elaborate on it. What are the moments where the song made you go "oh wow" or "now THAT is interesting"? And not just you, I've watched other reviewers and outside of the abstract the most specific things that are discussed is the cinematic story... Which.. Isn't anything new? New to coke studio, but nothing a typical filmy production hasn't done.
I feel like my rant is going on too long.... I still love your reviews and the work you guys do.. And typically agree with (at least one of) your takes.. But unfortunately not this time.
