I live in upstate NY now, but I was raised in NC all through my childhood. Seeing this just makes me sad that that building isn't there anymore😥😥. I've been to 2 hornets games throughout my childhood and those experience will stay with me forever❤❤❤
7:40 My first Hornets game(Sixers). The Hornets' first ever win against an actually GOOD team. Complete strangers were high-fiving in the stands. We weren't remotely jaded towards pro sports and the NBA was still in the golden era of Magic/Bird/MJ. It was something else.
No joke. I am the kid in the beginning wearing the white #1 Muggsy Bogues jersey coming out of my seat with my hand in the air in pure excitement. 0:40.
At 5:43 Hornet Greg Kite is next to Coach Dick Harter "during the Clippers game"(early season). Then he is seen playing for the Clippers in the next few plays. He wasn't on the Hornets roster until 4 months later. At 20:52 he is "newly acquired", going up against the Knicks . That always bugged me as a kid. An early lesson in media deception....
The original Charlotte Hornets had great players over the years, if they could have kept them together and the hornets were not relocated, they could have built a champion contender team for years, my all time favorite original hornets 1. Alonzo Mourning (c) 2. Larry Johnson (pf) 3. Glenn Rice (sf) 4. Kendall Gill (sg) 5. Muggsy Bogues (pg) 6. Matt Geiger (c) 7. Anthony Mason + (pf) 8. Jamal Mashburn (sf) 9. Dell Curry (sg) 10. David Wesley (pg) 11. Vlade Divac (c) 12. Elden Campell (pf) 13. Bobby Phills + (sg) 14. Rex Chapman (sg) 15. Baron Davis (pg)
This is a stellar upload. I didn't know it even existed. I've just had Kelly Tripucka on my NBA-history show (part one: inallairness.com/73). Part two will be online tomorrow and we chat all about his years w/ the Hornets. Do you have any other Hornets gold like this, Matt?

Eric Wright wow!
Seriously? How awesome
Eric how old are you now? I'm guessing at the time you were 8 or 9. So I would say you are 38-39 now.
I was overseas and an avid Pistons fan when Hornets, Timberwolves, Magic got added to the NBA
6:42 It's wild that Charlotte's first 3 came in Game #5. Hard to believe how different some things used to be

This is great. Thanks so much for uploading - how did you get access to this, may I ask?
I have the VHS tape so I just did a simple digital conversion. Thanks for watching!
I agree with adam and do you have any more hornets stuff to share with us?

I know I follow you all over social media Adam
I don't have any other Hornets tapes at the moment. I'll upload more if I come across any.
3:23 those should have been the Hornets jersey lineup.
12:16 - Here's a big play by Jordan. Jordan over Tripucka.
Why were they so popular if the results were so bad? Even here in Europe, kids like me knew about them.
brasil
14:28 Dell Curry (Stephen 's father)
