An intensely lyrical and majestic performance of a concerto Berman never commercially recorded.

@@ThePianoFiles My pleasure. It's so great to hear it continuously instead of cut up into sections.

Beautifully delineated lyrical playing by LB. I would not be disappointed had Scriabin continued to compose in this style. A balm to my nervous system.

Glad you liked it. The great collector Ernst Lumpe recorded the broadcast and sent me a copy. Later we heard that Lazar Berman himself wanted to hear the recording. I have a letter from Berman thanking for sending the cd-r. ”Thank you for remembering me” were his last touching words in that letter. A year later he passed away.

Berman was indeed an incredible pianist. This piece is not performed often enough in my opinion. This recording may have been unissued, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one. So glad we can hear it now!

Magnificent, indeed is the best interpretation of this concerto, also with an excellent support from the orchestra and conductor.

I just dicovered lazar Berman's rendition of this work-my favourite.Unlike other versions, the piano sounds ABOVE the orchestra.
