I get that it’s an unkind comment but I blame Upper Deck for making too many Young Gun rookie cards. I mean these guys wouldn’t have gotten a rookie card in most junk wax era sets but Upper Deck just needs to leave it to top rookies. I, myself like completing the sets every year but if Upoer Deck makes an extended series this year than it’s just a cash grab and the blaster boxes will be sitting even longer on Target shelves than last years.
Oh I totally get it. Someone gets called up for one game and they get a rookie card? The NHL doesn't count that as the players rookie season, so why is Upper Deck making a rookie card for that player? Makes no sense.
@@DirtyDan77 look at basketball and football who's guys have rookie cards even before they played one game.
@@DirtyDan77 I have a rookie goalie card from decades ago whose NHL career was 20 some minutes. An *entire* NHL career. It's not a new thing.

Yeah but he’s 26 and a lifelong minor leaguer, not much upside. Plus there have been lots of guys that led the AHL in scoring and no one is digging up their Young Guns from 10 years ago and selling them for a huge profit.

Solid Pull on the UD Canvas YG of Okhotiuk !! If it wasn't for the UDCANVASYG's SP hits and the Dazzlers, I would probably pass on UD 22-23 Series 2 in all formats, especially Retail Blasters avg 1.6777 base packs per blaster. We will see though if this crop of YG's gets a bump on the secondary market
Looks like Hobby is a better buy with those double base packs. For retail wait for the tins/jumbo YG boxes.

I got a rookie materials retro out of a hobby box and it was Cale Makar. Does anyone know anything about this cards?
Yup target has not got these stocked yet, or at lest the one near me.
Btw all 3 boxes had the same insert type to pack location order.
I would rather buy lasts years series 1 and 2 blasters that are on clearance for $15 and actually pull guys with real potential like Caufield, Zegras, Raymond etc.
@@carolinatarheels7903 I think the only place the puts them on clearance is walmart in the closet one to me, no thanks. I don't want to get robbed, get In a fight or shot at.
@@christopherworks400 the Targets in my state have been clearancing out last years Upper Deck blasters for $14.99 for the last 6 months. I would try their website or even eBay as a few sellers sell them for the $14.99 and free shipping. Walmart won't clearance out hockey by me.

How can you tell if you pulled a gold Lunchbox Hero?
I bought 1 blaster that was complete garbage, so I got a 2nd and hit a regular and canvas Dylan Guenther YG so I'm calling it quits after that.
I have bought 3 hobby boxes since the release and I think I am going to call it quits. I got a Kuzmenko young guns canvas in black and white. I got a Dylan Holloway young guns in french. I got Arber Xhekaj twice. I got a blue highlighters card of Auston Matthews. No Slafkovsky, No Shane Wright and I am going to call it quits now.

I don’t know why they would put a freaking mascot as a young guns, and then count it as one. That’s terrible. I guess they didn’t want to dig into the ECHL.

@@wittybanter96 There is a lot of depth players, players that are not in the league, players that aren't in the continent. One of the higher value cards is a mascot. I like the cards but I don't think the value is there but that's pretty much with all of the newer issues.
tbh, i think this YG crop is overhated. lots of good current cards and then some good for the future, then your sucky ones. nonetheless, not a bad retail opening. keep it up
Worst series 2 has to be 2008-09 Upper Deck. When Corey Schneider is the best Young Gun you know you’re in trouble. Fairfield couldn’t wait to unload all of the rack and blaster packs in their repack boxes.

Man, the product is such garbage. All of it now is nothing but garbage. Better off just paying top dollar for the players I want, instead of blowing so much money on stuff I'll just end up throwing away.
This has to be one of the worst collated card sets ever. Don’t buy it. 10 fat packs only 110 cards that are not doubles, or triples if not worse. Total BS. 4 Carey Price. The Nashville goalie also 4. Also if you pay 250 a box to get a Connor bedard you need serious therapy
Don’t buy any of these. It’s all crap.
Endless junk pulls before finally getting anything half of the valued wasted in buying the junk to begin with.
