Is there an app or program needed? I want to set up the cameras in my condo but I want to set them up so they are constantly charging and recording via motion detection
Not for the Sq11. It’s just a little camera that can record about an hour or so unless you hook it up to a power pack then you will get longer. But you still wouldn’t know what you had recorded until you uploaded the footage from the memory card.
I just want to know many hours it can regularly record with 32GB se card at normal video quality ?? Do i need to connect to laptop to delete recordings ?? I’ve never used any security cameras ever,I live in small 1br basement. But bow i need one and for cheaper price possible.
Hi there, apologies for the late reply! So 32GB would get you a lot of footage depending on how you have the camera set up of course. For example in this video I set up the camera on night vision and motion detection mode, powered with a 5000mah power bank and a 32gb memory card. The power bank/camera would last around 15hours from what I remember, depending on how much motion was detected. As for the memory card, you should get a least a good week out of that amount of space if not more. Again however depending on how you have the camera set up. The recordings I think just get recorded over once the memory card is full I think. If you wish to view any of the video or pictures then you would need to connect either the camera or the memory card to a computer or laptop. Hope that all makes sense! Personally I would say If you are planning on using this for a security camera, it maybe better to invest in something else. Just for peace of mind!

Thank you for the review as you gave this inexpensive camera a very good run through of its features. At one point you wondered if you were being overly critical and I'd say "yes". Depending where you buy this camera, you can get it in the $10 range. So discussing image stabilization or web connectivity seems a little unnecessary. This is a camera for just playing around. I bought some for placing on the ground and trying to capture mice or shrews. Thank you for this review. I just ordered one of these to use to record passenger views on my S gauge model train layout. I have used my phone for that purpose, but it's size limits me to only side views. This should allow me to record views looking forward and backward.
Indeed, you pay for what you get and although this camera does have its faults, its not too bad! Thanks for watching and commenting btw! Much appreciated!
Thanks for the review, great job! Question: are you able to control the camera from the app? I want to use it as "eyes", just to peek at something and not really record. I'd like to just click a button, see it's video, then turn it off via the app.
Hi there! Sorry about the late reply! So unfortunately there is no app for this camera and it doesn’t support WiFi either. However I think the SQ13 does do what you require but I haven’t tested that yet! 💪
@ Unfortunately the only way you could do that is maybe if you had something that can read and play the footage on the SDCard. For example a laptop or another camera. There is another camera similar to this that has an app that you can connect to your phone and see what the camera is shooting. Think it’s the SQ20 maybe?
Great review of how to set it up. I'm using mine to seek and destroy MICE. I can't quite figure out how they're getting in my 7th floor apartment. Yours was the only video I found that explained using both the night vision and the motion detection. I caught 10 already, but have yet to find the entry point.
@@mcphoney Darn, something's happening that I dont' understand. I pushed the power button and got the blue light, but then it blinks about 5 times and then goes out. Do you know what that means. Maybe I'm not actually turning it off and it's going dead?
I found one that doesn't just go off. Yeah. My next question is this. I can get the blue light to turn on, and by pressing the power button, I can' get it to blink a few times and go off. I can get the blue and red lights to appear, for 1080, and I can get the solid red light to appear for taking pictures. I'm not sure how to get the whole unit to turn off. Also, when you explain using night vision and motion, are you starting from just turning the unit on? Over and out for now.
Question. Do I need a driver for this to work? I can get the camera to work, but when I plug it into my USB port, it doesn't just show up on my homepage like it used to. I downloaded a new driver for VLC, which is what I was using and I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the USB port under device manager. I did, however, catch my 11th mouse anyway! But I'm not having the fun of seeing what's going on.
Basically it will record for about a minute once motion is detected and then stop recording automatically. If it detects motion again straight away then it will record for another minute etc! Hope that helps! 💪
I'm confused about getting 1080p mode because you said press mode button for 1080p mode, and then also for camera mode, it only goes to camera mode... I get it's a simple camera but man does it suck when 1 button is designed to do so many different things when they could easily just add 1 more button
Oh yes dont worry,, Im totally with you in regards to the lack of buttons and complexity of using it. I still have to look back on this video when I want to set up the motion detection! Anyhow just to answer your question, to get to 1080p mode, Press the power button to turn the camera on. When it comes on it is in 720p mode. Then press the M (mode) button once to switch to 1080p mode. Then to start recording just press the power button once. And to stop recording just press the power button once again. On a side note, if your camera isnt doing anything or switching to 1080p mode there is the possibility that it could be once of the "fake" ones that have flooded the market. (The first one in this video turned out to be a "dodgy" one. The way to double check is check how any recordings are made. If they are in 16:9 (widescreen) then you have a good one. If it records in 4;3 (square) then it could be a fake one. Another way to check is if it records in Night Vision mode. If no infrared lights come on when in night vision mode, then again Im afraid its a "fake one" with plastic made to look like LEDs. Anyhow, hopefully you have a good/real one and can now get to 1080p mode! 👍
@DogNinja1o1 Gutted, so frustrating. Unfortunately it would appear there is no way of finding out until the camera actually arrives. Almost a “luck of the draw”. There are similar cameras around via the web out there though. Some with WIFI capabilities for “smartphone connectivity”. That maybe your better option if you can find one with genuine reviews on their website and/or Amazon etc.
I appreciate your effort in doing this video. Very thorough! Keep it up! New subscriber here from the Philippines! Hopefully you can unbox and review one that is in the middle price range that packs a lot. All the best! 🙂
I connected this to usb power for hours to fully charge. I open camera on my windows and I get nothing listed for the camera. I think the button works and I can get to the solid blue light, but no camera or video. Is this likely just defective?
It doesn’t sound good I’m afraid. The first one I had (in this video) was also defective! It does appear that the market is unfortunately flooded with good AND bad ones. Can you exchange it or get a refund?
@@mcphoney Yes an ebay purchase. I have 30 days and it has only been a couple weeks. I have been trying to find someone that has an opinion and just messaged the seller. I take it you think it is just bad. Thanks for your help.
@@mcphoney I got another and it seemed to do the same. I had wondered if I needed a program to view this (I am on W7, maybe built in on W10 or whatever you are using) and I installed webcam viewer. It was still kind of picky but I got it working now. (both of them). My question now is this camera appears to talk about wireless. Does it send the video out wirelessly also or is it just through the usb cable? Thanks.
So basically the camera will record when motion is detected for about a minute or until the motion stops. Then when more motion is detected it starts recording again and so fourth... Hope that makes sense!
Hmm it sounds if you have two of them that won’t work then they could be actual faulty ones and not your good self. If you don’t mind me asking, can you get a normal video/picture to work? And if so what aspect ratio is it? If it’s 4:3 and NOT 16:9 then I suspect it could be the “knock off” versions that unfortunately are in the market. (I ended up with one) The dodgy ones have fake night vision leds too…aka they are just plastic and not bulbs!
Recently bought one of these for £2.50. I think they sell stuff with different internals as I can't get it into 1080p mode (it only has 720p and picture), all the video is 4:3 and it does not accept a 32gb SD card. For £2.50 I can't really complain though
Yes it does seem to be that there are a lot of “fake” ones. (Like the 1st one in my video) I’ll have to do a fake vs real SQ11 comparison! Strange it doesn’t accept the 32gb card though but at least it was only £2.50!
I have got 2 of them but I got different button functionalities, when i press mode button it takes me directly to red color (no red and blue) , also night vision not working, I dont know did they update the instructions? do you have an idea what that might be?
@@LiangYT Its been a while for my comment, but yeh i later realised that those lights were just plastic after dismantling the thing, i could not find original one, its full of fakes
Apologies for the 7month wait late reply, so I know there was some on Lightinthebox (.com) that were genuine for about £15. But unfortunately it does appear that the market is flooded with fake ones. (Like my one at the start of my video). Very frustrating because you won’t know what you have got until it turns up!
Mine works only for a few seconds (about 10 to 40) and stops. What is the issue ? I charge the battery at each new attempt... I tried formating the card in NTFS it did not work at all. Then I formated it again in FAT32, it works again but only for about 10-40 seconds then it stops. I tried every sort of recording. I know the manual by heart... It works for taking pictures. For video only 720p work, never 1080 never motion detection and never more than about 40 seconds... ? I tested 2 different 32 go TF cards tested all OK... ??
I’ll be honest it could be one of the “older/not so good” versions. That’s what mine was at the start of the video so had to order another! It seemed to come on and work but then stop. One way you can tell is if the video is in a 16:9 or 4:3 format. If it is 4:3 then it’s the older/dodgy model. Hopefully either way you can send it back for a replacement?
@@mcphoney Thanks very much for your answer. It's in 4:3 format ! I also just read that there are a lot of fakes looking as real as the real one, might be one. Bought it 4 weeks ago on AliExpress for 2€... ! Do you have a link where to buy a 16/9 and real one for sure ? Greetings from France !

Hi there, videos/pictures are captured onto the memory card then you either plug the camera into a PC/laptop or remove the memory card and put that into a pc or laptop. 💪
Awesome my brother just bought me one and was wondering about it. Might be good as a little toy. As its so light You could put it on a toy drone maybe or attach to a ball.
Not too sure what the problem is there, however these suggestions may help where other people have encountered the same message: Press the Windows Key + I to open Settings. Click on Privacy. On the left hand side under "App permissions", click on Camera. First of all, make sure the slider under "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on. Then under "Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your camera" make sure the sliders for the Apps you want to use your camera are all turned on. Close the settings and then try and use your camera again. @Numide_Massyl Apologies, I have somewhere though! Anyhow I’ve no idea how to do it but do know it is possible as I’ve seen a video on UA-cam with an Android phone… ua-cam.com/video/a7qfIA7DT6g/v-deo.htmlsi=Is61v5a3kiKPB4dG Hope it helps!
It does keep working until whatever power it is being connected to runs out. For example I used a power bank for the overnight/motion detection shots and it would work until the powerbank was dead. Hope that makes sense! 👌
Hmm I’m not too sure on that. Can only think of a faulty connection inside the camera maybe? I presume other videos are working with sound from your pc/laptop? (Just to clarify it isn’t dead headphones/speakers which has just happened to me.)
@@mcphoney hi Thanks for replying. All sorted now..was using a program not compatible with the video sound.. Found another program and sound works just fine..
This thing is hard as hell to know if its on or ff or not why didnt they just have a totally separate "on" button that stays on when on and off when off like things used to be. Now no light means off and on. Way too confusing
Do have to agree. They made it far too complicated I think! Couldn’t make one better myself of course but it took me a good while plus trial and error to learn how to use it!
If you activate the night mode first then when you are set up with your rat trap and ready to go, activate the motion detect mode as well. 👌 Hope that helps! Do a couple of test shots first just to make sure as the camera is a bit fiddly to use!
The problem is that the motion sensor does not activate night vision. Night vision has to be activated manually and remain on all the time even when the camera is not recording. This will drain the battery very quickly.
@@Ntwadumela1 It would be so much simpler if the camera could automatically detect darkness and activate the infrared leds. But again for the price we can’t expect too much.
I bought that camera from wish... I did not get the clips and I didnt get the yellow ended cord.. I bought an sd card mini and its not the right size. It fell inside the camera .. i had to shake the camera to get it out .. i turned the card around and it wont go in properly. What am I doing wrong? I cant read small print so here I am at your video trying to get this thing going.
Look in the card slot, you will see pins there. Insert the card so that the pins in the slot match the pins on the card. In practice, the pins on the card should face the lens. Don't push the card too deep, it should be flush with the casing.
Hi there! Sorry about the late reply! So apparently there are some “fake” versions going around. I ended up with one as well. The memory card does fit but you have to be really careful and feel where the slot is. (inside the casing) However these “fake” ones don’t have night vision and record in a lower 4:3 format. If I were you I’d just re-order one. Maybe from Ali-Express?
I can’t quite remember but I’m sure you just press and hold the power button? (For about 15/20 seconds so it actually switches off and not just change the mode) 💪
You can indeed! I’ve been setting in up in my yard at night with a powerbank attached to it! 👌 You will need a strong powerbank for continuous recording though. I just leave mine on motion detection mode to save power!
Ik this video is bit older but hopefully someone can help me I have a micro SD card but its still not working. It just flashes blue and red. Idk whats wrong
Hi there, I’m sorry to say this but unfortunately it doesn’t sound like the camera is working properly. In my video review, the first camera that I begin to unbox etc ends up not working. So had to order a second one! It does appear that there are some faulty/dodgy ones going around. Can you send your one back and get a refund/replacement?
i want to use this for airsoft, when you say it supports up to 32gb, does that mean that ONLY 32gb cards can be put in/thats the max filesize it can record? i found a tf card that is 128gb that has the exact same size as a 32 gb card and want to double check before i buy it
So basically it can take any micro SD card up to a maximum size of 32gb. Which means unfortunately your 128gb would not be compatible. But have a little look around, I’m sure there must be similar ones that support 128gb! 💪
Just to confirm, Are you transferring them to a computer or laptop first before watching? If not then try that and watch them on the device you have copied the files to. 👌
great video. i have had these cameras for years and the only but.motion DOES not work however order you push those buttons. not complaining, just stating a fact.
If you connect it to a pc or laptop then it can be used as a live webcam but you cannot view live footage without it being hooked up with the usb cable to a computer. Hope that makes sense!
I bought a new SQ11 Camera, but after I charged for more than 1 hour and diconnecting it and use it freely, clicking the ON button, there is no power or blue lights on. it means there is no battery has been charged, means there is no battery inside the machine. But when it is chaeged, it normally function in recording video.. I APPRECIATE IF SOMEBODY CAN HELP ME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE..
It doesnt sound good Im afraid. Like i had ast the start of this video, the camera didnt work because the battery wouldnt hold a charge so I had to buy another one. You can change the battery (videos on youtube) but its probs easier to just get another one. Sorry for the bad news!
Not with this camera I’m afraid. I don’t think it’s possible. However there are other models in the SQ range that do have WiFi which maybe you can then connect to your phone. Think maybe the SQ13 had WiFi?
Need standalone for unteneted rental. Not interested in counting nose hairs. At same time I do not want Bigfoot video. Will this work without wifi. Motion activated
@@brucegor Yes indeed. This one (SQ11) doesn’t support WiFi. It’s literally just a small camera that can record, motion detect, night vision etc onto a memory card, 👌 Just double check any reviews from wherever you purchase it from as unfortunately there are a lot of fake ones going around!
Unfortunately not however Im sure ive seen a video on youtube with someone connecting it to an android phone via a wire. But also there are more SQ cameras available and some do have WIFI capabilities, think the SQ29 does but do double check!
Sorry to hear that @m00dmvzik It would appear that there are a few variations of the SQ11 around. Ones that produce far lower video quality with no night vision, even though it states that it has it, and ones that actually work. In my video at the start, that one appears to be one of the "fake" ones. Can you return yours for a refund or exchange???
portable security cam, can easily set it up on movement detection and leave for a few hours come back and see who visited the house, also i will be buying a power bank so i can leave it running for a few days, also you forgot to mention it only holds up to a 32gb sd card. very happy with this camera!

dude. i really get a much worse experience with my cam. Youre are much better. Cuz when i put it in 1080p mode it looks on cam like it is 70p or somtheing like that
Oh dear that doesnt sound good. Ive also discovered that their are also two versions of this camera available, one that has very poor quality video with no night vision and then one that does record in HD with night vision too. There is another camera similar to this that has an app that you can connect to your phone and see what the camera is shooting. Think it’s the SQ20 maybe?
@@mcphoney Thanks and just one more question, I bought the camera but I didn't get the sd card, I have to have it to use the camera

Great review of how to set it up. I'm using mine to seek and destroy MICE. I can't quite figure out how they're getting in my 7th floor apartment. Yours was the only video I found that explained using both the night vision and the motion detection. I caught 10 already, but have yet to find the entry point.
@@barbmartell7901 Glad the video helped, 7th floor though? They must be abseiling down a drain pipe!
Seriously though I hope you get it sorted! 💪
@mcphoney Actually, I think it's intentional, which I feel certain will get handled, but for now, this apartment complex needs help.
GOD DAMN, Quality is superior than bank cctv
Hi - good Video. If you use motion detection - it starts, when motion is deteced. does video recording stop, when there is no longer motion deteced?
@mcphoney Sadly, it's a fake one 😔 but at least I know now thanks! I've reported the page where I bought it and it looks like it was taken down
@DogNinja1o1 Gutted, so frustrating.
Well done for reporting it btw. 💪 At least others won’t suffer when buying it from that web page.
What app do I use to view pics and video
Hi there, you don’t need an app, you can just place the SD card from the camera into your PC/Laptop. 👌
I appreciate your effort in doing this video. Very thorough! Keep it up! New subscriber here from the Philippines! Hopefully you can unbox and review one that is in the middle price range that packs a lot. All the best! 🙂
Thank you Paul, that means a lot! I’ll keep an eye out for one on my search!! 💪💪💪
By the time the sd card is full, does this camera overwrite the incidents? thanks!
It does indeed! 👌
Thanks.
Hey so when I plug in to my PC and use as a webcam I keep getting grey band across the video feed.
Any idea of what causes this?
Hey, question, when putted on motion detection mode, does it desactivate when the motion stops?
So basically the camera will record when motion is detected for about a minute or until the motion stops. Then when more motion is detected it starts recording again and so fourth... Hope that makes sense!
I can't get mine into motion sensing mode. I have two of them and neither one seems to do it, so I'm sure it's my error. Help!
(I ended up with one)
The dodgy ones have fake night vision leds too…aka they are just plastic and not bulbs!
@mcphoney yep, that's what I got apparently. Thx for the insight!
(Like the 1st one in my video)
I’ll have to do a fake vs real SQ11 comparison!
Strange it doesn’t accept the 32gb card though but at least it was only £2.50!
Good video! What does a blinking red light indicate?
Hi @joblack5141 Im not too sure to be honest, but I dont think its a good thing is it? Did you manage to get it solved?
How do you connect to your phone for on going recordings?
I have got 2 of them but I got different button functionalities, when i press mode button it takes me directly to red color (no red and blue) , also night vision not working, I dont know did they update the instructions? do you have an idea what that might be?
Got the same thing it's a fake version bro the infrared bulbs are just fake plastic
Also only 720p :(
@@LiangYT Its been a while for my comment, but yeh i later realised that those lights were just plastic after dismantling the thing, i could not find original one, its full of fakes
@@giggen9057 shame same thoi
Apologies for the 7month wait late reply, so I know there was some on Lightinthebox (.com) that were genuine for about £15. But unfortunately it does appear that the market is flooded with fake ones. (Like my one at the start of my video). Very frustrating because you won’t know what you have got until it turns up!
can this show a live feed on pc and record when it detects motion at the same time? having a hell of a time trying to get it to switch modes
I'm not sure if mine is faulty. Every time I've tried recording now, it records mayve 20 secons then stops
Does unfortunately seem like a fault. Can you get a replacement?
@KStarDid So I got my second one from aliexpress but paid a bit more for it. However I can’t seem to find the store any more. But if unsure again just check out how many have been sold with how many reviews. Eg.5000 sold from the seller but with only a 2star review then avoid. But 300 sold with 4.5 star review then that seems quite legit!

Not too sure what the problem is there, however these suggestions may help where other people have encountered the same message:
Press the Windows Key + I to open Settings.

How can I record full night of my aquarium with it? I will turn my light on full night.
If you get a power bank (a large one) then that should work. Obviously you would have to keep the camera on the outside of the tank though!
Great vid ,thanks, how dyou simply switch it off....?
Hi there! Sorry about such a late reply! So from what I remember you just press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds. Hope that helps!
If you use it connected to the outlet instead of PC will the battery dry off ? Or it will keep working for a longer period ?
It does keep working until whatever power it is being connected to runs out. For example I used a power bank for the overnight/motion detection shots and it would work until the powerbank was dead. Hope that makes sense! 👌
So technicly as long as its connected to power source such as outlet wich never runs out of electricity it should record non stop

Hi.

Any idea how can I fix this?
Hmm I’m not too sure on that. Can only think of a faulty connection inside the camera maybe? I presume other videos are working with sound from your pc/laptop? (Just to clarify it isn’t dead headphones/speakers which has just happened to me.)

@@locospanish78hello there , can you please tell what sort of program did you use in order to get the sound working?
This thing is hard as hell to know if its on or ff or not why didnt they just have a totally separate "on" button that stays on when on and off when off like things used to be. Now no light means off and on. Way too confusing
Do have to agree. They made it far too complicated I think! Couldn’t make one better myself of course but it took me a good while plus trial and error to learn how to use it!
i want to use it in night mode with motion detector on a rat trap, how do you get both modes at the same time?
(inside the casing)
However these “fake” ones don’t have night vision and record in a lower 4:3 format. If I were you I’d just re-order one. Maybe from Ali-Express?
Do i need a pc to get the footage
You will need some sort of pc or laptop to view the footage on the memory card. 👌

You can’t I’m afraid. You have to either connect the camera to a pc/laptop or remove the memory card and place it into a card reader on a pc/laptop. 👌
Can be connected to the charger and recording the same time? I want to record 12h continues connected to a power bank

@@mcphoney I would also use this camera on a power bank.
What is the maximum size of the sd memory card for such a long recording?
Could it be plugged into an outlet for continuous power and record in motion detection mode?
