Ad was having a similar situation. Pels did a lot of dumb moves and injuries happened. Ad took the pels to the semi finals with a good supporting cast in 2018
But he mention Kevin Garrett was outplayed at his position multiple times when he was in those playoffs while ad out played players like draymond green on the pelicans
Him and even the top 5 greatest player of all time in Tim Duncan doesn't get much recognition because people brush off loyalty and greatness. They'd rather focus on superteams and to be buddy buddy with other superstars.

For real. I feel like many new or younger fans these days don't understand how great and historic Dirk was. Many of them only know Dirk as a shooting big man or for his fadeaways.
I'm gonna get shit on, but there's some super underrated Power Forwards that are typical "Glue Guys" that I think deserve discussion. Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green are the first two that come to mind. Guys that can't score a lick but literally do everything else at an elite level, and often times are the reasons why their teams win tough games. I can't begin to explain how impressive it was to see Dennis play #2 to Jordan when Pippen got hurt, grabbing sometimes upwards of 20 rebounds a game while guarding the best player. And don't get me started on Playoff Draymond, who is another beast entirely. He deservedly gets shit for his persona, but if you watched the Olympics, you would recognize his greatness. That team was flatlining every time he was off the floor, and was a well-oiled machine when he's on. The Gold Medal game was perhaps the most impactful 0 pts 0 shots taken performance I've seen. He's top 3 in Playoff Triple Doubles behind Magic and Lebron. And he revolutionized the way people play defense in the modern era by being able to switch 1-5. Give these dudes some flowers too.

Look Giannis can’t be considered top 3. He has the accomplishments but let’s not forget about his lack of post season success until this season. He needs to prove further post season success to move up on the list which he will do in my opinion.
Fun fact: Giannis won his first chip at a younger age (26) than when MJ won his first chip (28). NOT comparing them as players but putting that into perspective truly shows how much Giannis has accomplished so far in the league at his age.
Dennis Rodman - 5x NBA Champion - 2x Defensive Player of the Year - 7x rebounding champion He's one of the most unique athletes in the history of the game. He could guard and disrupt any teams star player. Every position 1-5 from Magic to Shaq. He always hustled and seemed to have better cardio than everyone else on the court. He's the most skilled rebounder of all time and probably the best when you take into account his size. Basketball is not always about scoring. If your team has 1-2 scoring options then Dennis did everything else to ensure the Win. And it goes without saying that his off the court antics and personality are legendary at this point. He spent some time as a small forward in Detroit so maybe thats why he's not on this list... but he deserves it... especially over someone like Petit (who's a LEGEND!). But you don't take Petit over Rodman when choosing between the two.
Hot take -- Rodman was great PF, but he is the one player who could be pulled off the list. He was never a franchise players or ever had the burden of a team on his shoulder. Limited on offense.

@@sydneystroud4397 Dennis was the best THE BEST Offensive Rebounder in the 90s, bar none, He either scored or passed the ball to Jordan, Pipen or Kukoc to help them dominate in the offense. When you look at stats, Rodman was far more monstrous Offensive Rebounder than Defensively, that could score when his team needed to in the paint and was by no means a scoring liability, but because he was selfless he almost always passes it and is one of the best passing PFs in the league history, and could score in the paint if needed too. Hakeem Olajuwan admitted that Rodman would've made it insanely difficult for them to deal with, and none of Jordan's 2nd 3peat would've happened if Rodman wasn't in the 96 to 98 Season. Being a 6'7" 220 lbs Physical Anomaly, Amazing overall Offensive Rebounding, Shut down Defender (Shaq, Kareem, and Malone had defensive nightmares against Rodman) Give me Rodman. putting Lakers Shaq at 0 in thr paint is unheard of.

I love Giannis to death but I’d still put Garnett and Dirk ahead of him. Giannis’ peak these last five years (27-11-5) has been incredible. And he’s just entering his prime seasons which is scary. It’s gonna take a lot to catch Tim Duncan, but I think he has the intangibles, drive and talent to get to that level.

Karl Malone leads all Power Forwards in total Points, Rebounds, Assists & Blocks. He also has the most All NBA First Teams by a Power Forward in history and was the highest overall scorer of the 90s decade while still being a regular All Defensive selection. He has more MVPs (2) & Finals Appearances (3) than Dirk, Charles and KG as well. If we aren’t going scrutinize the personal lives and magnify the controversies of other players such as Kobe and Hakeem, we shouldn’t do it to Karl either, no matter how abhorrent his off the court actions were. Great video. Excellent analysis. You gave Nowitzki his due. I remember the 2003 finals. You were right, Parker didn't get the job done. A backup guard named Speedy Claxton saved the Spurs. Parker wouldn't play well, in came Claxton, and the Spurs won. He should have won MVP, but he wasn't such a famous player. Then in 2005 and on Parker had matured and didn't need a backup. Claxton got some good contracts for playing so well in the 2003 finals, but I don't think he did much!
I’m fine with KG being #4, but the reasoning for him being there is pretty bad. (Instead of him being higher) In 04-05 Garnett led a horrible Timberwolves team to a 44-38 record, but they still didn’t make the playoffs because they were playing in the most stacked western conference of all time. So that season is actually a huge plus on Garnett’s resume if anything. Well then you might ask “what about 05-07”. Well fun fact, only 3 of Garnett’s 17-19 teammates throughout that time period were still in the NBA after 3-4 years. So it was a historically bad supporting cast, (arguably the worst supporting cast a superstar had in NBA history during their prime) and once again not making the playoffs these seasons shouldn’t really be held against him. Not to mention Kareem, Barkley, Kobe, Olajuwon, and Moses Malone all missed the playoffs in their prime as well but no one’s going to (or should) knock down those players for that because it wasn’t their fault. Now you might say Dirk was able to lead bad supporting casts to the playoffs, but however bad they may be KG’s casts were insanely worse.

I’d shift KG up to 2. I don’t think you really understand how bad the timberwolves were when KG was there. Nor was the comparison of KG and Dirk. Did you really see how deep the 2002 Mavs were. Chauncey is not on Steve nashes level. Michael Finley and Nick Van excel were on different tiers from the rest of the timberwolves team. Until KG went to Boston he didn’t half a decent roster. Go look at dirk during the mid 2000’s. The Mavs consistently underperformed. Where was the mention he got knocked out in the 1st round as the 1 seed? The 2011 finals Dirk couldn’t even hit 40% of his shots in half of the games including game 6. Remember us was Jason Terry in game 6 that provided the clutch offense while Dirk shot .333 fg. Sorry it just felt like KG got hit big time for any knock on his career while Dirk got glossed over.
I know he was never known for scoring, but Dennis Rodman’s 5 championships, Two-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, eight-time All-D selection, and Hall of Fame selection at least earns him an honorable mention.
At 4:36 McHale is better than the Brow(No Disrespect). McHale played in a different era. He was playing against guys like Rodman,Malone,Barkley,Willis,&Chambers etc. McHale was a defense general man.

PER is a flawed stat. PER formula starts with "(1 / MP) *" MP = Minutes played. It does not take into account pace of the team. And 2020 Bucks was the fastest team in the season with insane pace of 105.1, 2nd came the Rockets with 103.7. In fact 2019-2020 Bucks was the fastest paced team in the last 30 years, since 1990-1991 Denver Nuggets. Hence Giannis could do more in less minutes driving his PER way up. Jordan's 31.71 PER with 95.5 pace in 1987-88 season is more impressive, what is more impressive is LeBron's 31.67 PER with pace of 88.7 in 2008-09 season.
KG should not be above Barkley and Malone on any list. KG's defense was very good, but his offense was not par with these great players. His offense game was very limited and unlike Giannis, he couldn't dominate his game with his physical strength.

I grew up a Bucks fan in the 80's. Kevin McHale was an all time great. He is one of the most underrated player in NBA history. When Bird and McHale were healthy it was almost impossible to beat them. In the 80's he DID get the respect he deserved he even made a Cameo appearance on the HUGE TV Show Cheers. I don't understand why he isn't praised like Bird still is?

Garnett - 12 All Defense selections, 9 - 1st team Dirk - 0 All Defense selections cmon now Not to mention KG's 4 Rebounding titles. Dirk never averaged 10 rpg in his career.

Who TF underrates Charles Barkley? Barkley was the only Basketball Jersey that I bought growing up and I was a BUCKS Fan. He's celebrated as an all time great along side his peers in Jordan and Hakeem. I got to see Barkley play live in his prime vs Bucks at the Bradley Center on March 14, 1992. Charles had 33 Points and 14 rebounds.

Thank you for putting Dirk's name on blast. A lot of people.dont understand how stacked that Miami Heat team is, for me it's possibly the cheapest or 2nd cheapest super team ever created. For a lone superstar in 1 team with a bunch of role players to demolish that superteam. That shows how loyal a player is to the organization and show that they don't need a super team to WIN IT ALL.

Dallas had one superstar with like 10 REALLY good roleplayers. Probably greatest performance by role players all time. There were so many role players playing like animals. Nowitski gave you nothing on defense. My biggest memories of him is a "power" forward taking 20 foot 40% fadeaways with no chance at a foul or an offensive rebound and him watching quicker players leave him behind on defense. Malone and Pettit were very similar players: weight lifters, Louisianans, very hard workers on and off the court. Fouls were not called on Malone which really boosted his career. Baylor was third-fourth in the league in rebounding behind Russell, Pettit and Wilt. Not a power forward? Today, he would be listed at 6'7", 235.

I guess McHale's in the right spot, though I might move him up a bit. In the old style NBA, where people posted up in the paint more, no one had more moves and better timing under the basket.

And take a closer look at this season's playoffs. The Nets would most definitely beat the Bucks even with have strenght. And Giannis wouldn't have done ANYTHING about it. Heck, even a great Kevin Durant on his own was nearly enough - by half a shoe size. Giannis may have the potential to become No. 2 one day... but for me he has to prove it against SERIOUS competition first. Just like Dirk did. Then we can talk. Just way too much resency bias here. Barkley for me is just one of a very few select players who made the best player of all time work really, really hard for his ring. It's just not his fault that he played in the same era as the GOAT. When I look at Barkley's game I just see a more complete player and athlete than some of those guys in front of him on this list. For me he is still at least No. 4.

How overrated is Giannis my God. When you talked about Dirk, you said that he had one of the most difficult playofffs runs in history, and in turn, you forgot that Giannis had one of the easiest, facing all injured teams. It would be like Dirk in 2011 would have beaten the Lakers without Kobe, the Thunder without Durant and the Heat without Lebron. Dirk's playoff run is incredible precisely because he defeated those players, but Giannis did not, he defeated injured teams, therefore his ring is very overrated and his position in this top is incorrect.
A chip is a chip, no matter how you look at it giannis at this age has almost overthrown or equaled other all time greats in terms of accolades/ awards. Might not be second best but he cannot be outside top 5 no matter how you look at it
Terrible comparison, only the nets were injured. The hawks were down 2-1 before trae went down and when Trae came back, they beat them without Giannis. And bro the Suns were healthy wym, if anything the Bucks were less healthy than they were because giannis was coming off an injury and they were missing donte. The Bucks faced ONE injured team and you completed it to a hypothetical of a guys facing ALL injured teams.

Why people insist refer to Duncan as PF? He played PF only next to 7'3" David Robinson. He was a legit 7 footer! He was the second strongest player in the NBA according to metrics, only after Shaq!!!! He was listed for the biggest part of his career as C. Duncan himself has stated that his position is CENTER!!!!
Ever heard of Elvin Hayes? The Big E should definitely be on any top 5 power forward list, let alone top 10. Came into the league averaging 28 ppg and 17rpg as a rookie and kept going from there
Barkley and Malone too low and if it is cos they did not win the chip, that still doesn't justify. Also, where is Chris Webber and Dennis Rodman? Worm was the best defensive PF ever and won 5 rings. Prime Webber with the Kings was within the same tier with Duncan and KG even though he did not last long as other two.
Giannis needs more years of consistency yes he has the ring but he's only been that guy for Milwaukee for 4-5 years.Guys like malone,dirk,Barkley have numbers,playoff runs,winning seasons and mvps while playing at high levels for years so Giannis having a ring doesn't outright put him over everybody else he needs more longevity

For real. I feel like many new or younger fans these days don't understand how great and historic Dirk was. Many of them only know Dirk as a shooting big man or for his fadeaways.
I'm gonna get shit on, but there's some super underrated Power Forwards that are typical "Glue Guys" that I think deserve discussion. Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green are the first two that come to mind. Guys that can't score a lick but literally do everything else at an elite level, and often times are the reasons why their teams win tough games.
I can't begin to explain how impressive it was to see Dennis play #2 to Jordan when Pippen got hurt, grabbing sometimes upwards of 20 rebounds a game while guarding the best player. And don't get me started on Playoff Draymond, who is another beast entirely. He deservedly gets shit for his persona, but if you watched the Olympics, you would recognize his greatness. That team was flatlining every time he was off the floor, and was a well-oiled machine when he's on. The Gold Medal game was perhaps the most impactful 0 pts 0 shots taken performance I've seen. He's top 3 in Playoff Triple Doubles behind Magic and Lebron. And he revolutionized the way people play defense in the modern era by being able to switch 1-5.
Give these dudes some flowers too.
I would consider Green and Rodman small forward but great regardless.

Dennis Rodman - 5x NBA Champion - 2x Defensive Player of the Year - 7x rebounding champion
He's one of the most unique athletes in the history of the game. He could guard and disrupt any teams star player. Every position 1-5 from Magic to Shaq. He always hustled and seemed to have better cardio than everyone else on the court. He's the most skilled rebounder of all time and probably the best when you take into account his size. Basketball is not always about scoring. If your team has 1-2 scoring options then Dennis did everything else to ensure the Win. And it goes without saying that his off the court antics and personality are legendary at this point.
He spent some time as a small forward in Detroit so maybe thats why he's not on this list... but he deserves it... especially over someone like Petit (who's a LEGEND!). But you don't take Petit over Rodman when choosing between the two.

When you look at stats, Rodman was far more monstrous Offensive Rebounder than Defensively, that could score when his team needed to in the paint and was by no means a scoring liability, but because he was selfless he almost always passes it and is one of the best passing PFs in the league history, and could score in the paint if needed too. Hakeem Olajuwan admitted that Rodman would've made it insanely difficult for them to deal with, and none of Jordan's 2nd 3peat would've happened if Rodman wasn't in the 96 to 98 Season.

I love Giannis to death but I’d still put Garnett and Dirk ahead of him. Giannis’ peak these last five years (27-11-5) has been incredible. And he’s just entering his prime seasons which is scary. It’s gonna take a lot to catch Tim Duncan, but I think he has the intangibles, drive and talent to get to that level.

He also has the most All NBA First Teams by a Power Forward in history and was the highest overall scorer of the 90s decade while still being a regular All Defensive selection. He has more MVPs (2) & Finals Appearances (3) than Dirk, Charles and KG as well.
If we aren’t going scrutinize the personal lives and magnify the controversies of other players such as Kobe and Hakeem, we shouldn’t do it to Karl either, no matter how abhorrent his off the court actions were. Let’s not be hypocritical.

I remember the 2003 finals. You were right, Parker didn't get the job done. A backup guard named Speedy Claxton saved the Spurs. Parker wouldn't play well, in came Claxton, and the Spurs won. He should have won MVP, but he wasn't such a famous player. Then in 2005 and on Parker had matured and didn't need a backup. Claxton got some good contracts for playing so well in the 2003 finals, but I don't think he did much!

I’m fine with KG being #4, but the reasoning for him being there is pretty bad. (Instead of him being higher) In 04-05 Garnett led a horrible Timberwolves team to a 44-38 record, but they still didn’t make the playoffs because they were playing in the most stacked western conference of all time. So that season is actually a huge plus on Garnett’s resume if anything. Well then you might ask “what about 05-07”. Well fun fact, only 3 of Garnett’s 17-19 teammates throughout that time period were still in the NBA after 3-4 years. So it was a historically bad supporting cast, (arguably the worst supporting cast a superstar had in NBA history during their prime) and once again not making the playoffs these seasons shouldn’t really be held against him. Not to mention Kareem, Barkley, Kobe, Olajuwon, and Moses Malone all missed the playoffs in their prime as well but no one’s going to (or should) knock down those players for that because it wasn’t their fault. Now you might say Dirk was able to lead bad supporting casts to the playoffs, but however bad they may be KG’s casts were insanely worse.

I’d shift KG up to 2. I don’t think you really understand how bad the timberwolves were when KG was there. Nor was the comparison of KG and Dirk. Did you really see how deep the 2002 Mavs were. Chauncey is not on Steve nashes level. Michael Finley and Nick Van excel were on different tiers from the rest of the timberwolves team.
Until KG went to Boston he didn’t half a decent roster. Go look at dirk during the mid 2000’s. The Mavs consistently underperformed. Where was the mention he got knocked out in the 1st round as the 1 seed?
The 2011 finals Dirk couldn’t even hit 40% of his shots in half of the games including game 6. Remember us was Jason Terry in game 6 that provided the clutch offense while Dirk shot .333 fg.

Dirk won only 1 MVP, Giannis won 2 MVPs (one of them being with the highest PER of all time!!) and it was back to back seasons, also as much as spectacular Dirk's championship run was, it wasn't as spectacular as Giannis' who average 35-13-5 and in the close out game scored 50 points in one of the greatest performence in finals history.

PER is a flawed stat. PER formula starts with "(1 / MP) *" MP = Minutes played. It does not take into account pace of the team. And 2020 Bucks was the fastest team in the season with insane pace of 105.1, 2nd came the Rockets with 103.7. In fact 2019-2020 Bucks was the fastest paced team in the last 30 years, since 1990-1991 Denver Nuggets. Hence Giannis could do more in less minutes driving his PER way up. Jordan's 31.71 PER with 95.5 pace in 1987-88 season is more impressive, what is more impressive is LeBron's 31.67 PER with pace of 88.7 in 2008-09 season.

KG should not be above Barkley and Malone on any list. KG's defense was very good, but his offense was not par with these great players. His offense game was very limited and unlike Giannis, he couldn't dominate his game with his physical strength.

I think you were actually a bit unfair to Karl Malone. There's a lot more nuance to his case than "The guy likes little kids", and there was a lot of racism and media bias during his case.

I grew up a Bucks fan in the 80's. Kevin McHale was an all time great. He is one of the most underrated player in NBA history. When Bird and McHale were healthy it was almost impossible to beat them. In the 80's he DID get the respect he deserved he even made a Cameo appearance on the HUGE TV Show Cheers. I don't understand why he isn't praised like Bird still is?

Who TF underrates Charles Barkley? Barkley was the only Basketball Jersey that I bought growing up and I was a BUCKS Fan. He's celebrated as an all time great along side his peers in Jordan and Hakeem. I got to see Barkley play live in his prime vs Bucks at the Bradley Center on March 14, 1992. Charles had 33 Points and 14 rebounds.

Thank you for putting Dirk's name on blast. A lot of people.dont understand how stacked that Miami Heat team is, for me it's possibly the cheapest or 2nd cheapest super team ever created. For a lone superstar in 1 team with a bunch of role players to demolish that superteam. That shows how loyal a player is to the organization and show that they don't need a super team to WIN IT ALL.
I'm not saying it was completely fair but it wasn't as lopsided as your putting it. Miami had 2 superstars with one all-star and some pretty good role players. Dallas had one superstar with like 10 REALLY good roleplayers. Probably greatest performance by role players all time. There were so many role players playing like animals. Jason terry, jj barea, shawn marion, deshawn stevenson, peja, caron butler, haywood, tyson chandler, Jason kidd, corey brewer etc
Nowitski gave you nothing on defense. My biggest memories of him is a "power" forward taking 20 foot 40% fadeaways with no chance at a foul or an offensive rebound and him watching quicker players leave him behind on defense. Malone and Pettit were very similar players: weight lifters, Louisianans, very hard workers on and off the court. Fouls were not called on Malone which really boosted his career.
Baylor was third-fourth in the league in rebounding behind Russell, Pettit and Wilt. Not a power forward? Today, he would be listed at 6'7", 235.

I guess McHale's in the right spot, though I might move him up a bit. In the old style NBA, where people posted up in the paint more, no one had more moves and better timing under the basket.

Heck, even a great Kevin Durant on his own was nearly enough - by half a shoe size. Giannis may have the potential to become No. 2 one day... but for me he has to prove it against SERIOUS competition first. Just like Dirk did. Then we can talk. Just way too much resency bias here.
Barkley for me is just one of a very few select players who made the best player of all time work really, really hard for his ring. It's just not his fault that he played in the same era as the GOAT. When I look at Barkley's game I just see a more complete player and athlete than some of those guys in front of him on this list. For me he is still at least No. 4.
I got kg over dirk because he was a 2 way player and had way less help than dirk. Otherwise another excellent list

How overrated is Giannis my God. When you talked about Dirk, you said that he had one of the most difficult playofffs runs in history, and in turn, you forgot that Giannis had one of the easiest, facing all injured teams. It would be like Dirk in 2011 would have beaten the Lakers without Kobe, the Thunder without Durant and the Heat without Lebron. Dirk's playoff run is incredible precisely because he defeated those players, but Giannis did not, he defeated injured teams, therefore his ring is very overrated and his position in this top is incorrect.
A chip is a chip, no matter how you look at it giannis at this age has almost overthrown or equaled other all time greats in terms of accolades/ awards. Might not be second best but he cannot be outside top 5 no matter how you look at it
Terrible comparison, only the nets were injured. The hawks were down 2-1 before trae went down and when Trae came back, they beat them without Giannis. And bro the Suns were healthy wym, if anything the Bucks were less healthy than they were because giannis was coming off an injury and they were missing donte. The Bucks faced ONE injured team and you completed it to a hypothetical of a guys facing ALL injured teams.

Why people insist refer to Duncan as PF? He played PF only next to 7'3" David Robinson. He was a legit 7 footer! He was the second strongest player in the NBA according to metrics, only after Shaq!!!! He was listed for the biggest part of his career as C. Duncan himself has stated that his position is CENTER!!!!

Barkley and Malone too low and if it is cos they did not win the chip, that still doesn't justify. Also, where is Chris Webber and Dennis Rodman? Worm was the best defensive PF ever and won 5 rings. Prime Webber with the Kings was within the same tier with Duncan and KG even though he did not last long as other two.
