    Thanks man this has probably been the most insightful video I’ve seen on the stryd. Im a big power zone fan on the bike and like you I want to train for a half marathon in a similar way.

      Thanks! Power training is definitely one of those things that is so much better that once you get into, you can never go back!

    Good review - I personally really like to run power-based sessions from the membership library through the app - works really well for me!

    Appreciate the video, but I use Apple Watch and Coros Pace 2…both of which give excellent power data. Two other UA-cam channels (Chase the Summit and DesFit) tested the Stryd versus these wrist-based devices specifically and graphically…no difference. Equally accurate to the Stryd (except for walking, which was poor in Apple Watch). They found exactly the opposite of your testing. Just letting your viewers know in case they want to compare. No subscription, no buying the footpod from Stryd company only. Just something to consider. Thanks for your video.

      Do you use Coros Pod or Pod 2? Thanks for your insights.

    Nice and informative video! The colors on the comparison graph were quite weird tho.

    Thanks good overview. Question though, re apple watch ultra, I got power before i had stryd, so which power will it show in the applw running workout once stryde is installed, apple or Stryd?

    Wow! I’d love to see them launch a model for jumping rope.

      One of the recent updates from COROS includes a jump rope mode which is actually pretty good! ->

    As a Stryd user for 3 years, both the original wind version and the new Next gen, I don't think the Next gen is worth the upgrade for the average user. The 5 times quicker polling only has appreciable value for short intervals or maybe trail running. The Air power polling is much better, but again, unsure if it's worth it. The other additional new metrics while nice, feel more anecdotal than truly valuable. I've really come to the decision that the Stryd can best be summed up as a substitute for RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion). If you are an experienced runner in tune with your RPE, the Stryd's value is greatly reduced. I still and have used the Stryd for every single outdoor/indoor for over 3 years, and it works great for me. Another good substitute for Power is GAP (Grade Adjusted Pace), which some companies are starting to utilize more. Also, Stryd's algorithm for uphill and downhill aren't perfect. It makes the uphill power increases more than they truly should be, and the downhill adjustments are harder than they should be. As a result, I take the uphill numbers with a grain of salt and slip into mental RPE, but on downhills I don't even try to hit the power number since the level of RPE is higher than it should be. Stryd's true value comes into it's own for Race planning and execution. If you feed it accurate data it can predict performance, you can even load race route profiles and take into account heat, humidity and build those adjustments into your plan.

    I want to get a running pod mainly to accurately record my indoor runs on inclined treadmill. My Apple Watch 8 is highly inaccurate whenever the treadmill incline is greater than 6 deg. Is the Stryd accurate for inclined treadmill runs? Is there any other cheaper device that can accurately record inclined treadmill runs?

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  11 місяців тому +2

      I believe it's pretty accurate on incline treadmills... you do need to have the app open on your watch though as you need to adjust the incline % on the Stryd watch app if you want to keep it really accurate.

      It is very accurate. I’ve tested lactate on incline and flat and get the same results

    WARNING: I bought my Stryd pod five weeks ago, and it works fine, but a WARNING the clip is not great, my Stryd pod has fallen off a few times but this has been indoors, outside it would probably had been lost. The accidental unclippings have happened even though I carefully clipped the pod on to my shoe. My solution will be to secure it with more than one rubber band or something better.

      You must ensure you get an audible click in and that your laces are not catching in the mechanism. I have never had the pod come off in years when it's clipped in correctly.

    Dies anyone know how this affects the garmin running data? What data will take priority when using the Garmin HRM and the stryd footpod?

    • @Dominik-vn6lo
      @Dominik-vn6lo 2 місяці тому +1

      Garmin itself doesn't record ANYTHING from Stryd. You need to use a Connect IQ data field to actually record data from the Stryd pod.
      Additionally, when you're in a workout and your target is a power zone or power range, your Garmin watch will show zero! The CIQ data field RunPowerWorkout can take it from there, but Garmin native support is completely missing

      On top of that, newer models like the FR965 have wrist-based running power. How reliable that is you have to figure out yourself, I rely on my Stryd only.
      So you HAVE to turn wrist-based power off or else your watch will be beeping non-stop because you're supposedly not in the zone.
      No, you can't have (= record) both Stryd and wrist based power, unless you're not using power as a workout step target type.
      On a slow heart rate based run you could record both and compare the data.

    How do I get the Stryd to know I’m done running? It will keep tracking me as if I’m running even when I’ve long stopped the Garmin. I’m not always in the best place to sync the pod.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  4 місяці тому

      If you synch it with your Garmin and Garmin app, it will combine its data with more data from Garmin data so the session recorded will end when your Garmin session ends. Otherwise, it’ll know if your done running and stop tracking after you walk for a while and no longer run. You also don’t need to synch the pod very often… it keeps the data for a good while, and you might not need to at all if you use and have it paired with the Garmin App.

    269 euro an increase of 35%, ridiculous. Garmin power app gives other output but IT is as consistent as stryd and most important IT''s for free
