Gert spent a large part of the year prior to his mother's passing being involved in providing for her care, something that got more and more intense the closer it got to her passing. He started writing it in the last few months, by which point he and his sister were pretty much caring for her full-time having moved back in with her after an unexpected emergency surgery which left her bedridden. This song is about the huge feelings of responsibility and guilt that come with caring for someone who cared for you. Everything feels like a minefield of life and death decisions, with the repercussions being felt by one of the people you love most in the world, and even the right decisions don’t feel like they are most of time.
