This song was incredible important to me. Because of it, I was able to endure a time where I hated myself unconditionally, then rise above it to where I am now. I created a short story based on this, its on wattpad but I didn't want to put a link so I'll just put it all here. I hope other people who read this can take away the important message from this. Thank you Sanders, your music is a powerful medium to where thousands of hearts can connect together.

Here. Amidst the ocean blue, where water and sky are one sharing its color. My feet dangle into the deep unknown, and my head looks into the sky, where the sun shines a brilliant flare of glittering rays, intermittency only taking place when a few soaring birds cross the lines of sight it and I shared. My eyes lead to them, watching them fly into the endless and vast stretch of freedom, large and unformed clouds filling the atmosphere. I'm entranced by it, but I'm also understanding. Because I cannot attain that freedom. My arms are not of feathers, and my body is not of the right size or shape. I will never attain it.
And so I fall.
The water takes me, as I feel the cold salted liquid begins to encompass my body, bringing me down where light cannot reach. I tell myself that there's no point in fighting. There's no point in resisting the truth, that I'll never attain the freedom and passion I long to take. I give in to its depths, my body falling down, my hand reaching out instinctively, a vain hope for something, anything, before it too descends into the depth, fingers giving one last twitch, one final goodbye, until there's nothing left of me.
Here. I'm no more. The cold waters holding me close, telling me that its proud I've finally given way. I cannot respond. My words are empty, bubbles replacing what little fight I had left. I'm drowning in the cold empty blue. I'm descending further away from the Surface. My head is leading my bodies descent, diving head first as the empty void draws near. My eyes are drooping, glazing with want at the light peering down that became harder and harder to see. My passion. My freedom. My dreams. My future. All of it drifting further and further as I'm taken away from that light. I burst into tears, but its taken by the water. I scream, but my voice is drowned out. I flail, but my motion is dulled. Then I lay still. I look ahead. The light I see, the one hope I have, falls away. The light is gone. Hope is fragmented, dreams are torn. Passion is discarded. And I close my eyes, as my body numbs to the cold water.
But I feel a warm glow.
I blink slowly, my visions all but hazy. I should be empty. I should not exist. So what is this feeling? I looked above to the Surface, but the light was not emanating from there. Of all places I searched, of every reason I yearned to obtain to keep going...Instead of all of that, the answer was so surprisingly simple. The light was illuminating within me.
It glows brightly from my chest. I hold it close, the yellow iridescent orb contradicting the empty void in the bowels of the sea. I somehow find salvation within this empty and vast ocean, this single light shining from my chest. My body becomes warm, despite of the water's chilling grasp.
Its beautiful. I feel so much coming from it - my friends, my family, and the beating of my own heart, a pulsing feeling to push on despite the cold waters holding me. I feel it race in my chest, I feel my eyes lighten, my breath arise, my gaze sharpen, my expression smile. I know what I need to do. I snap from my temporary stasis, and begin tearing through the empty sea, ignoring its attempts to hold me down. I push through, enduring the cold with the light in my chest guiding the way, fueling me. I keep on going, though thoughts of doubt periodically come about. My muscles grow weary and fatigued, my lungs cry for breath. Should I just give up? Is this worth it?
Completely. I listen to the lights words, telling me that I have the strength, the courage, the endurance. I just have to keep listening to it, ignoring the waters tempting persuasion. The sun's rays from above appears, the water beginning to find its color of blue once again, the surface glistening and moving. What was this feeling? Why does everything seem so clear? Why does my heart beat this way? I don't understand, but I welcome this amazing and relieving emotion, as I near arm's length from the Surface, as its reflective and warping layer revealed the vision of the blue skies, life abundant from the world above. With a final yell distorted from the sea, my hand broke through the Surface, and following along my entire body rips through from there as well, a burst of water erupting into the daylight.
Here. I breathe heavily, oxygen filling me, as I tread the waters. I shake my head to free myself from the water clinging to my face and hair, sprinkling in the radiance of the sun. The sun's rays glisten, and my eyes adjust. I'm finally above the Surface. But still... I cannot reach the sky. Time passed, as the solar orb among the sky drifted down to the horizon, a coagulation of red and blue beginning to cast a washing, pink light over the waters and myself. I still want to reach the sky, to soar just like an eagle into the endless blue.
And that's when I look right on the line of the sky and the sea. I see a sandy shore, I see... Everyone. My friends. My family. My everything. There were even people I've never noticed before, and even people I thought despised me... They're all standing on the beach, the sunset flaring them with an ever increasing pink vibrance. Some were leaping high into the air, up and down, some were standing still on the sand, a simple smile that said more that words, and some were spilling tears down their face, a pointless attempt to hide them with consistent wipes of their forearm, some were on their knees and yelling, outstretched arms beckoning for my return.
I get it now.
I've been focused on the sky, when there's so much more to life. Its okay if I can't ever reach the sky. Because there's more to life than a single hope, a single dream. I'm guided by my heart, the feelings I have stored in it, and the people that fill it. That's what life is. That's what reason is. That's what hope is. As I continue looking at them all, appalled that so many actually were there for me, I try to withhold a heated sensation from my cheeks and eyes, but the dam broke, and I felt the warm tears empty from the gathering pools in the corners of my eyes, parted but gathering together again at my chin. This was different from before. This was true happiness, and I felt an ethereal appreciation for these tears. Because I shared them with the ones I care for.
I scream out, tears still swathing my eyes and flush-red face, as I begin my journey to reach them, swimming desperately, tearing through the salt water.
