My strat for this game is think of each encounter like rock paper scissors. Grab -> Shield, Shield-> Smash, Smash -> Grab. If someone is spamming grab, using a smash at the same time will counter. Same thing with the others. Find the players’s tendency and use it to counter. Grab is very effective: aim at spikes or the floor below to kill them almost 100% of the time if you have good aim. Since you can only shield from behind (Not grab or smash), grabbing someone from behind is a good way to get a kill. Try constantly knocking players off to boost drain them, at one point they won’t have enough boost to recover. Also make sure to conserve boost so that you can recover.
I love the new mode. It’s hella fun. There’s Whole different vibes and you actually enjoy playing, unlike comp, when you take it too serious 90% of the time.
Something most people don't know, which helps A LOT is pressing the up button on the right side which helps get free from grabs and be free of long stuns
BTW the car doesn't hit the opponents, the thing that hits and grabs people are the energy thing (blue or red) in the direction you are flipping, so it's not the car hitboxes. Smash -> Smash or Smash -> Grab both players get stun in place, but you need to counter by flipping in the same direction (the energy things must touch each other), then Shield -> Smash use the opponents momentum and power on him and he flies away, and Shield -> Grab gets tktally beaten
This game mode is like rock, paper, scissors. Rock is shield, paper is grab, scissors is attack. I had so much fun playing it, def the best game mode I’ve ever played. Sad it was only temporary, I miss it already😢

Blocks, hits and grabs. One can stop the other. But blocks don't work on grabs. Grabs not on hits. I wish this was a ranked extra so bad.

I can’t stand the matchmaking. Im diamond, but mechanically I’m like gold, so in this game mode I get put into Diamond/Champ lobbies and get wrecked. Despite being first eliminated in 10 straight games the lobbies stay diamond/champ level. Also, I solo queue, and everyone else is in a party and they just group up on non partied players.

Its kinda funny how everybody is trying to Grab instead of hitting people, yesturday i had over 400 damage in one game ( got screenshot ) however the hitdetection is janky because sometimes when i hit somebody, i hear the sound that it hit, but the oppunment still grabed me for some reason

Just to clarify, block counters attack, attack counters grab, and grab counters block. Just like Rock Paper Scissors

You have to hit the brakes and front flip (or any direction while hitting the brakes) to grab someone

By the way, the attack, or the dodge, blocks the grab and if you're fast enough you could easily knock them out.

Block > Attack
Grab > Block
Attack > Grab

Pressing the button as fast as you can (not holding it) makes the time you get stunned less
