Tom, I’m surprised you didn’t mention Court Square Diner bc that’s been in LIC for a very long time and it actually used to be called Court House Diner. Also, Five Points used to be called The Phun Factory. I’ve been inside one time being invited by my friends who were “artists” lol and it was really impressive what they did to the inside of it. It’s a shame now it’s all gone but hey at least these new places have washer in units 😂. Great stuff as always Tom, keep them coming baby!
I remember I was in that area on a Saturday a few years back and they let me go in and work around and look at the Art Inside but this guy in the office just said don't take pictures of "artists" because some have open warrants - very cool place for sure the block itself was totally blue-collar businesses and was kind of dicey at the time
Tom is an amazing historian & tour guide. He seems to know each and every block of NYC. I’ve lived here since 2000, and still learn something new from every video. Thanks Tom! 🙌🙌🫶🙌🙌
My old man used to work at Silvercup in the early 60's. Gave me a tour of the joint once - pretty cool. He would deliver bakery products to Da South Bronx back then. Yikes.
I grew up in the QueensBridge Projects. 41-14 12th street until Aug of 1962 when we moved to College Point Queens. I notice the street that Tom is on when he was doing the piece on the "projects" is not within the projects itself and for good reason. It was a fairly dangerous place in 1962 and probably alot more dangerous now so he was very smart to hang on the outskirt of the neighborhood.
The 1st time I visited NYC I stayed in Long Island City, and I GPS'd the MoMa, and the MoMA PS1 popped up, So I went since it was so close,.......I thought that was the actual main MoMA lol. Boy was I wrong for a couple of years🤣🤣
In the early 2000s when the city rezoned the waterfront, it closed two private clubs that had been there for years: East River Tennis Club and Tennisport. The river front should absolutely be public space, but it's still jarring to see the waterfront look SO different! Also, RIP Waterfront Crabhouse!
I'm glad to see you took the time to smell the roses.🌹 lol They are pretty in pink:-) 💖Artists! 🎨🖌Yes! I wonder if anyone lives in that Long Island industrial sign building? That might be an interesting place to live! I love Snow Geese! 🦆 Okay, it's a duck but it was the closest emoji I could find that mimicked it. lol
Top top - Anyone visiting NY or lives in NY - go see Tom’s comedy shows Let’s See What Else and Tom’s monthly comedy show. One of the best things I did while I was in NY - super nice guy and was a great night - watch the monthly special via live stream now - funny and interesting guests talking about NY. 🙌🏻
TOM ! FANTASTIC ! LOVE WHAT YOU AND THE TEAM DO ! ( ERIC) ALL GOOD I LIVE IN LIC . I also watch all of your episodes!! love the pizza one! SICK PLUG !!!!!!@!!
Another very informative video Tom. Being from Manhattan, the only experience of LIC was taking the paddle wheeler from 34th St, to Water’s Edge Restaurant back in the 90s.
Thank you again tomdnyc for your work/videos with these different historical excursions, stories about New York City... Also, about this Tv series " Sex and City". Even some one tell me that only way I have to stay alive, if I watch Tv series "Sex and City" or someting like this, for one year, I still couldn't watch this Tv series, unlike interesting, different kind other Tv series, like for example Horror tv series " Tales from the Darkside", Tv series " 30Rock", " Curb your Enthusiasm" and others... P.S. I lived 24 years in New York City and this city always remains a part of my life (the same home city, as my home city Tbilisi), with all its pluses and minuses, with its diverse architecture, culture, characters, history of different parts of this City... Sincerely, Alex
I need to see Dakota apartments properly, was in Strawberry Fields, saw John's memorial. Thanksgiving 2014.... I didn't sign up for shopping for five days put it that way ...need to go again, well so glad I found memory plank for the founders of Macy's... Obsessed with with Titanic so had to find, and to have my pic in front of Tiffany's....Moon River❤
I started at LaGuardia CC in 2013. I was amazed, passing the beautiful artwork at Five Points during my commute (from Bed Stuy which I absolutely dreaded). It was so sad to see the works covered in white paint.
when ny went for the olympics and was going to build a west side stadium queens west was going to be the olympic village and all the building would have been for the athleates and officals and such.
This was the future site of Amazon’s second headquarters until Amazon withdrew. A lot of real estate “speculators” were burned. I was devastated for the flippers and realtors ;) Its still overpriced and ugly so by the myopic standards of NYC it qualifies as decent.
HOW ARE YOU A GOOMBA ME TO TOM AM ALSO I WAS BORN IN NEW YORK CITY I LIVE IN WEST SIDE OF FLORIDA I HATE BEEN HERE WAY TO LONG IM GOING BACK TO NEW YORK IM A SEMI RETIRED LOCAL SINGER AND GUITARIST OVER FIFTY FIVE YEARS TOM DO YOU PLAY ANYTHING IM LOOKING FOR A DRUMMER
*Thanks* for the informative tour ... perhaps less eight second* shots of durty filthy pigeons walking tho' Lulu Missing (at Sea) was artsy fartsy :) i know, can't please everyone * considering my attention span is only four seconds ** lost track of what Tom was saying. Not that I would know the difference between a county, municipality or city We can't all be lawyers ** or have more than one thought at a time * * *

Love the Ragtime in the transitions.
Lots of very beautiful B roll in this episode. The shot with the top of the Empire State Building way off in the distance was really cool.
Most underrated channel on UA-cam

I was waiting for that Pepsi sign...cuz...you know.
I REALLY ENJOY THOSE VIDEO FROM TOM IS LIKE A STORY CLASS
That serial killer look at the 16:45 is the best part of the video
I love your videos Tom, it has given me a new set of eyes when looking at this city. What a treasure your videos are!

Love your tours Tom. Love your sense of humor as well.
good video, Eric you make Tom look great
Another good video Tom. Stay Safe And Don't Breath This Dirty Air.
I still can’t believe LIC looks like an extension of the city. I went to LICHS in the mid-2000s, the neighborhood has done a complete 180.
loving the hip hop story in QB 👌🏼

Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads lived in a loft in Long Island City. Their LP Fear of Music was partially recorded there.

I use to live up road from park when i was first born
Awesome!
Tom you’re one of the best tour guides. Can you do outside of NYC and LI again please 🙏
It's great that you show me a map I just wish there was an outlet where I could look at a map all this technology and you can't just look at a map
great video of my neighborhood! Heading to Gantry today actually lol
Just found your channel and its really good content !
Learned alot Tom! Thanks! LIC has gorgeous views of the Manhattan Skyline
great channel !!!
22:00 😂😂 True tho. Great video Tom
I really enjoyed this video, Tom! I rarely be at Queens, especially Long Island City. It looks really nice down minus the gentrification part🥲💯

tom goes to queensbridge!! love it!!!
I was just in LIC staying at the The Local hostel on 45 Ave. Great food and bars!
OMG you do look like the guy from “You”!!! Love your videos 👍🏻
My hometown! (You know how long I had to say “Astoria”, cause no one outside Queens knew what LIC was?)
I feel like I still have to say this. I say LIC to anyone in the City and most assume I’m on well outside of queens on LI.
What about the mental hospitals and the hospitals in general? Btw, thanks a lot for this video.
I need to see Dakota apartments properly, was in Strawberry Fields, saw John's memorial. Thanksgiving 2014.... I guess that's what I should do make a UA-cam video with a map that just sits there
good to know👍is NYC still the epicenter for artists?
I started at LaGuardia CC in 2013. I was amazed, passing the beautiful artwork at Five Points during my commute (from Bed Stuy which I absolutely dreaded). It was so sad to see the works covered in white paint.
You forgot to mention Mobb Deep.
Nice!
LIC is my homeland 😂 and I didn’t know most of this stuff
I have started saying "totes presh" in my real life and I blame these videos entirely. 😅
Yeah Tom, you definitely could be Joe’s brother in the show , You lol
16:41 😂
I FR Busted Out LoL
BOLOL 😁 😉 ✌️ 🙏
Yassssss Kweens!
I just want Tom and Atun-Shei Films to be friends
Queens use to incorporate what is now Nassau County. After the consolidation of 1898, Nassau County was created in 1899.

My Austic brother says Tom looks Ted Bundy the serial murderer from the 70,80, I think he was lawyer.
DO YOU LIVE IN LONG ISLAND CITY
Why's it called Long Island city? I though Manhattan was only called the city in New York. Jeez, this is so confusing, man.
It’s just like a downtown for queens. Like downtown Brooklyn.
@@tombradford2010 Okay, I get ya.
* * * I digress
🙄
ur face reminds me of Joe from YOU
History haters 😤🤬
Actually Long Island City is still considered a city but a city within the city
