Ive been doing taxidermy for 27 years!! Learned at Matuska Taxidermy, did it for Cabelas for many years!! I now work in a big beautiful new shop with a very talented female taxidermist!!
Lifelong hunter and, at present, a hobby taxidermist. Seeing the animal in life, killing it to feed my family, and then immortalizing his or her sacrifice by putting the head on the wall or a lifesize on the floor just brings the entire notion of conservation full circle. Being the stewards of the earth, it is our job as humans, as much a part of nature as any other predator, to maintain balance between what we need to survive (clothing, food, shelter, water) and what we want (companionship of pets, that trophy bull or buck, and passing on that passion to our children) is truly a big responsibility. But being both a hunter, meat processor, and taxidermist, those of us girls (and of course our boys out there) can fulfill that part of our instinct as a caretaker and steward of the earth.
Very nice work I had a lady do a deer I had taken and the real attention to detail that a lady takes is different from a man's point. Get alot of comments on him she later died in a fire at the shop so this deer has a real special place as well RIP S.G.🙏🙏
I’m seriously considering to take on Taxidermix classes soon here where I’m from in Texas as a hobby and who knows if I become good at it maybe earn some income!
In my experience with taxidermists, women are so much more patient, detailed and just overall better at bringing the animal back to life. You GO young lady!!! 😉👍👍
To something you said, I don't think someone who "hates animals" would have any interest in doing taxidermy work. One has to have a particular love of the natural world to be able to willingly devote the hours of time it takes to put together each piece. Its a lot of tedious work and no one does a good job at what they do when they genuinely hate the subject matter. What I find interesting is the number of newer taxidermist who have never hunted or did so very little.
I've been into taxidermy since I was a young teenager, I'm 20 now, bc I've always loved animals and the artistry it takes to bring an animal back to life. I've always been good with art, I drew every chance I got since I could hold a pencil, and I love making crafts. Especially with bones, skulls and natural stuff like twigs/branches, rocks, flowers and leaves. I've been thinking a lot what I want to do with my life and tbh, taxidermy is right up my alley.
I knew your Father! I was product manager for Van Dyke taxidermy and got to know him at conventions. Really a down to earth, friendly enjoyable gentleman
Is my personal believe that your an excellent Taxidermist. As a single father of a smart and go getter daughter, personally haven't told my her don't play with blood or hunting weapons. I let her make a choice if she want to join me hunting we go hunting if she want to stay she stay. The statement that you used we got tired of being told that we couldn't play with (things that man play or do) doesn't apply to every women and is a low blow to man and fathers like me, that think our daughters are capable and can do what I do and even better. Perhaps your parents didn't allow for you to experience that, because their own thoughts and believes. It will be wrong from me to say there is no women that want to do Taxidermist. You are a clear example that, we can do and be what we set our minds and hearts too.
Look people can make all the jokes they want but bottom line when its your "once in a lifetime Trophy"....I wouldn't care if it was a Woman, Chimpanzee, Robot or a well respected older Gentleman whos got 40 yrs experience the bottom line is how it looks to you, the key to a good taxidermist is when that person can take any animal and preserve it and when you get it back it actually looks alive ! Just like anything else there are some who are best at Deer, some Elk, some African Game, etc but when you find one who can do justice to them all.....that my friends is more than just a taxidermist.....thats an artist that just works in preserving animals. I have Hunted Mt.Lions and Bobcat all my life, even went to South America with my Father and Grandfather once to hunt Jaguars when I was 11 I think and when you find a person who can take a Cat and when you get it back it looks just as if it could start walking off....you know you have something. This is also the main reason 90% of the Bobcats we tree with our Dogs are left to run again some day and also why out of the honestly hundreds of Lions I have been under the tree with....I still today have yet to pull a trigger on one....Im not having it made into a rug or having it stuffed and look like a emaciated greyhound or something because we want it on the fireplace wall full body mounted alongside all our other mounts....as of today that one spot above our fireplace is still vacant because I have yet to find that one person who can give me back what I give them to preserve for me. When I do though you can bet your last dollar as sure as the sun gonna rise and set I will find me a Big Old Tom lion and take him home cause that one spot gets more questions from people who come to visit than you can imagine.
@@allietorongeau4029 Animals where put here for food and to help people's I agree with that. But in these days people's don't need anymore animals for making heavy jobs, maybe some do but mostly of them don't. People's are abusing with animals half of the animals in globe don't exist anymore and this has come from humans. They are destroying their habitats, Illegal hunting, and hunting animals to sale in black market. Im not from USA I live in a small country in Europe and I remember when I was a small kid deers where everywhere and other animals today their habitat have changed and they have moved to deeper places, someday we Will think for this but it will be to late.
That deer was being so cooperative throughout the whole process
I wish my patients were like that.
Lol
I love the fact that there is a gremlin on the wall haha

Taxidermy is so beautiful when it's done right. To capture & preserve a creature's beauty is both a form of art & respect.

Hi Andrea ,
Love your story. What's your all time favorite mount you have completed?
I bet a shoulder mounts not 125.00 for a deer any more
100.00 for a head. that was 1977.
prices
Yah, 400 and up here in Michigan for a shoulder mount.

I am a master of leather processing, I love my job, but there is no one to help me in my country, can you help me? I want to come to you.
If you knew really good taxidermy she does an okay job at it. You can see several mistakes in the videos
Nobody ever claimed she did “good” taxidermy. You missed the whole point.
Why the negative vibe Joseph? Decent commercial work. WORK!!!!!

Hi
They are more beautiful in the wild
They are beautiful in the wild, on the wall, or in my freezer. Animals were put here for us humans to use, weather as food, companionship, or workers.

You need any help
Your work is fantastic!! Where is your shop at ? Can I get a phone # ?
She closed down and screwed over a ton of people and stole their animals. I was just reading on her google reviews
Description says Salt Lake City Utah
@@IndianaMallard : what a bitch!!!
@@IndianaMallard Yes I've experienced this first hand
Sorry but why would you put that cow ring in your nose.
So awesome
I mean... All taxidermist should be women, someone who does their hair and makeup everyday can absolutely mount my game.
Great work keep it up 👍
I honestly think a woman has more patience and compassion so I say bring on the woman taxidermists.
