Great custom! What Hasbro needs to give us is double jointed pinless elbows and knees for black series figures. If they did that I’d probably buy more of them.
Man, I'm glad I watched this. I have the all black version of degobah luke (from the "comic" Zahn trilogy) and only got it to use the head on bespin luke (I have both too, original and archive). I had no idea the ball socket was different. However, being familiar with hasbro for over 2 decades, I'm not surprised whatsoever. Thanks for making this! I will probably tackle this someday, but I will need that tan single pack degobah luke for sure. And I'm certain when I finally do it, hasbro will announce a perfect bespin luke 2 days after I finish. Thank you!!! * subscribed!!!
@@RandomStuffGarage619 Glad to be of assistance! I definitely recommend giving this project a shot, its a lot of fun and the end result (even without weathering/dullcote) is well worth it.
@@CollectorsCritical shame on hasbro for all the figures that still are not out! like 6" death star gunner,... gonk/power droid,..... death star droid/ra-7
Oh that looks great! I think old #11 was... ok for the time, and the updated one does look better to me, but yours is the best by far. And it looks like the lightsaber doesn't stick out as bad when on the belt, so that's great! Also reminds me how excited I was for SHFiguarts Empire figures, but that never happened. I also was hoping for some cool updates for the 40th, but that didn't happen either, which was definitely 100% the worst aspect of 2020, obviously. Seems like Empire doesn't get as many figures, especially really good ones.
@@Peweskimooxy Yeah, Hasbro definitely missed the mark with the 40th. Tho some of the figures were good. I'd love some SHF Empire figures for sure. But I doubt that'll happen.
Here's a good but DANGEROUS tip to remove original paint with a chemical stronger than alcohol. You can use Nail Polish Remover (acentone) BUT it will melt/ eat away the plastic if it stays on too long so the trick is you apply with a Q-tip, rub off the paint with the dry end of the same q-tip AND then run a lot of water over the part right after the paint comes off so the acetone washes away from the plastic. Try it on fodder parts first to get the hang of it.
I have some brush cleaner I was told works great. Bought some to de-cell shade my VHS xmen. Haven't used it yet. But, I DID use nail polish remover to take the tiger off the shirt of tiger force outback, and... woops. Didn't run water over it afterwards. Good thing it was for an "old man punisher" custom, and actually looked great a little beat up. Anyway, yeah... brush cleaner. Got it off amazon.
Cool job, your outcome is similar to the hyperreal one, soo good. Face is much better now, still, in my opinion the 6" snowspeeder luke face sculpting is the best, but major surgery is needed for a transplant like that.
The snow speeder Luke and the rerelease of Bespin Luke used the same exact face sculpt. They just changed the headwrap and hair for the respective releases. Paint apps vary between the two a bit as well, but it's the same sculpt underneath.
Technically hasbro released a third BS Bespin luke figure, except it's 8 inches tall and was a weird subline that failed. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

A big improvement. Nice to see some techniques I hadn’t thought of using too, like using glue (and oil) to widen hand pegs 👏

Sounds like you know what to do next...😎

Awesome bro!!! That is the definitive Black Series Bespin Luke👏👏👏
The final figure was "impressive" and as a first time viewer i really enjoyed the style of presentation.Saying what needed to be said. Nice one!
Honestly I thought the head sculpt and paint apps on the Bespin Luke was fine, but the body desperately needs an update. Nice work!

You could use that extra luke head to make the confusing decapitated Darth Vader... Darth Vader figures are a dime a dozen at target right now!

The Bespin sculpt is slightly exaggerated, but it actually looks like Hamill. The Degobah head sculpt looks like some long lost boy band member.

If the paint were more stubborn I would've got out the big guns like acetone or brake fluid. Fortunately it didn't come to that for this...
@@CollectorsCritical I thought break fluid worked only on die-cast pieces like Hot Wheel cars. Interesting.
@@likonatera7452 Brake fluid can be used to strip some plastic. However brake Cleaner will always melt plastic.
