  • An inspirational spoken word about recovery produced and performed by Kritikal Powers and Jake Mattison. Written by lived experience shaped through creative workshops with Kritikal Powers in coproduction with Inspire East Lancashire Change Grow Live Volunteers and Inspired Youth Arts
    Hidden in Plain Sight aims to raise awareness about the life changing impact caused by alcohol misuse. Shaped by lived experience the campaign highlights the stark realities of alcohol addiction with an emphasis on promoting the critical need for individuals to access professional alcohol services. Our lived experience coproduced campaign aims to challenge, educate, and inspire individuals to make positive changes in their lives.
    The campaign was created for #AlcoholAwarenessWeek and includes a spoken word poem written by volunteers to highlight the carnage and cost of addiction and to promote the power and impact of recovery. Performed by Kritikal Powers with chorus and music written and performed by Jake Mattison.
    Produced by Inspired Youth in partnership with Change Grow Live and Inspire Lancashire, shot by Scott Akoz, directed and edited by Kev Curran (Inspired Youth).

    No doubt that Alcohol causes more harm to health than any other substance, and yes, 'change' begins from within. There is a serious lack of recovered souls who are willing to support/mentor users who would like to make lifestyle changes, who are strong enough to facilitate without the boundaries of remits, I support users entering the process of change, i need no 'line manager', but lived experience alone is not enough, Counselling skills, a solid grounding in psychology, knowledge of the system, its faults and assets, vision and unconditional empathy are all vital facets for those brave enough to 'be there' for users, of whatever substance.
