I was going to buy a 9 pocket zipper binder from Vault x but here’s my questions 1. Should I buy regular sleeves or exact fit sleeves to sleeve the cards before putting them into the binder 2. For more expensive cards I have is it better to sleeve and put into a top loader or do you think a vault x binder is good for protection?
I use regular penny sleeves or exact fits depending on what I have laying around. Some penny sleeves fit in the pockets better than others, but I can't remember which brand fits best. That might be a good idea for another video. For my expensive cards, I just double sleeve them and put them in the binder to keep them with the set. I do keep some expensive cards in top loaders when I'm not collecting a set that they belong in. Hope this helps 😀
This was so helpful thank you! I really love how in depth you were in explaining every little detail about the binders and handling it in different ways as you described what you could see and feel. I've been meaning to get my pokemon cards out of the 5 inch three ring binder I put them in back when I was a kid and after watching your video, I feel confident about getting a couple vault x binders and vault x sleeves to more safely store them. I did have one question - the only complete set I have is the original base set and I was planning on putting some of the more rare/holos in toploaders but I'd also like to keep that set together. Do you know if that vault x binder is capable of holding a card that's being housed in a top loader? Or is a top loader too large to fit into the sleeve? Or would that not be the smartest way to store the set?
Toploaders are too large. O have 9 sets from different games in my vault x binders and some sets I cars guardian binders, and some old sets in ultra pro binders, none of them have rings and I enjoy the vault x or card guardian about the same. Hope that helps 😀
Great question. I use a label printer, and I'm able to get my labels to stick. But I have to apply it with a little heat, and I do have to press on it periodically, like once a year or so, to make sure it's still on there. The binders have texture which makes it hard to stick things, but it's not impossible.
I absolutely appreciate you for posting this video, it's definitely helped me on deciding which binder I want now. I'm aiming more towards vaultx binder but might go for the card gaurdian just for now due to the sell that's going online right now with my coupons, and the binder does seem the same quality but a slight bit Better in my opinion. Just ordered 2 card gaurdians so let's see how this goes 🤟 . I just started collecting pokemon , yugioh and magic cards again and have a few valuable cards I'd like to be safe in a binder. Thanks again you got a sub!
@@TedsBasementPodcast just got my card gaurdians binder a hour ago , finished loading up my binder with my valuable pokemon cards and I love it it's great although I think the vaultx is better structured, and the pages in the vault x are better. I had a friend loan me his vault x binder to do a in person comparison, card gaurdian is still good but now I know to go for vaultx 🤟 thanks again! Sell me a vaultx binder lol joking. Keep up the good videos
I let the top be exposed because the weight of the card is more likely to pull it down in the binder when you are holding it upright. So the bottom is likely to get more wear in the binder pocket and therefore needs more protection than the top. It just my opinion, I hadn't done any scientific tests to prove it.
They are so similar, the difference might be negligible. I might say the card guardian on the chance that the page bindings have a tiny bit more fabric on them, resulting in a slightly less chance of pulling the page when the binder gets really full.
Thanks for your quick reply,I recently bought a vaultx 4 pocket binder but some of the people said they've noticed spine bulging, I'm not an expert but I think it's normal. It has to be flexible,I,"ll try to send you a picture to see what I mean.
hi! Im looking for a binder that can hold YGO cards *without sleeves* A few months back, i bought one form amazon, and shipped to my country (im not in the US) and when it came, pokets were too big for YGO cards, to the point cards were wiggling inside this pockets, so I had to sell it to a Pokemon player. Binders are way too expensive here in my country, so thats why I looked up for something in amazon, but that one was a failure. On this video, you did not show YGO cards, i want something with small pockets for the YGO size without sleeves. Any suggestions?? Thank you.
It might be hard to find a binder with non-standard pockets because from a manufacturer perspective that limits the number of customers who would potentially buy their binder. Untimely, I don't know because I don't binder YGO catds.
Im in process of taking down all my indie tcg videos across all games. I made an announcement here ua-cam.com/video/TeCnUlTj0RE/v-deo.html I'll still be collecting some of the indie tcgs but focusing on mainstream like MTG and possibly some pokemon
@@Spekulanttis I don't want to to make concessions for one single indie TCG when I went mainstream. There is no perfect binder yet. I hope the industry fixes the remaining issues. I use the card guardian or vault-x side loading Ringless zippered binder, but they have issues, too. So it's sort of a pick your poison sort of thing
i cover those bad boys over in this video... and I will make another updates one within the next week or so as I review the strapped binder after holding cards on a shelf for a year and seeing how that affected the binder and the cards. I really appreciate you taking the time to go into such detail on this video. Really helpful!
Sure thing! I'm glad you got value from it. There still is no perfect binder solution, so I think these details are important to look into.
Appreciate the help in my decision! Super underrated channel in my opinion, keep up the great work!

Card Guardian binders are really nice, I also got a WINTRA 504 pocket binder in brown. It's very nice and gives a vintage look.
I'll have to check those out 😀
Should look onto BCW binders as well, if I dont use vaultX its a BCW.
@@David_Quinn_Photography I'll check it out. Are they Ringless?
@@TedsBasementPodcast they do make ringless binders, that line up is called the Z folio
Great video and really helpful, ever thought of reviewing the ultimate guard zipfolio as well?

Would the card guardian binder fit Pokemon cards with sleeves?
It should fit all standard sized trading cards.

Buy penny and exact fit sleeves to double sleeve the expensive cards and then just sleeve rest with the penny sleeves

Toploader binders do exist. Gemloader and Topdeck are two companies that make such binders.
This is an odd question but does the material on the outside allow for stickers to be put on or no?

Hi,does any of the zipper binders lay flat once their open.
They do if enough pages are opened to put enough weight on both sides of the binder to hold it open.
