Ukraine ESC Selection (Vidbir 2024) 2024 Top 19 (Including Wildcards) With Comments (After Show)

- Was an interesting national final. I think it lacks really top tier songs, but overall, the quality wasn't bad and there were some songs that would've made for solid Eurovision entries. I do think the wildcard round was a bad idea, as we lost a lot of good songs and some of the pre-qualified songs were amongst the worst of the selection.
As for the winner, it's probably the best songs they had to choose from in terms of getting a result. I think it's a top 10-12 entry, and is far away from the potential winner that some fans are trying to convince themselves it is.
Good luck to the Ukraine, though. This should be a safe qualification.

I've never heard of Suede but if they sound anything like Ziferblat, I may have to check them out lol.
As for the Wild Card round, apparently the original plan was for the selection to have semifinals but they scrapped that idea for safety reasons, so they just accepted the 10 songs that scored the highest with the pre-selection jury and let the public decide the 11th from the remaining ones.
I love Suede, listen to their best song "Trash", the lyrics hit hard !
So many of the Ukraine/Baltic bands have heavy Britpop (90's British indie basically) influences. If you enjoy their sound, it's definitely a genre I'd recommend getting into a bit more.
The system does make sense, but the pre-selection jury needs to do a lot better in that case. "Keeper" and "Endless Chain" were really overrated and shouldn't have been there.
You're so real for putting Parfeniuk first!
Melovin definitely surprised me, I wasn't really into the song but the way he performed it made me fall in love.
Could you maybe leave the comments on screen a little longer? Having to pause for every song just isn't that enjoyable
Thanks so much! I know it's probably not going to be on the top for many, but I haven't forgotten it. :3
I will see what I can do about the comments. Honestly, I've had a lot of different feedback about them. As you know, copyright being what it is on YT, I'm pretty limited to 10 second visual/audio clips. Last year, I thought I found the solution by muting and blurring out each clip after 10 seconds for an extra 5, to leave the text up....but my viewers hated it!
One day, I'll find a perfect balance that suits everyone. XD
@@kaleproject3495 Yeah I get that, can't please everyone. I always enjoy your commentary though, so a little annoyance is worth it
@@kaleproject3495I think it could be effective to have all text fade in at the same time instead of having it appear consecutively
i love Teresa & Maria, but it does feel like its missing a big "moment", if that makes sense. At this point, i wouldn't mind if it won. Can you imagine? "Eurovision Winner Jerry Heil"
Melovin's "Dreamer," though i love him, i wasn't sure about at first, but it came alive for me in the live performance. I'd love for him to get another chance, especially as his enunciation improves
Eurovision winner Jerry Heil feels like my own personal nightmare there.
I always knew Melovin's live performance was going to be great. Both "Wonder" and "Under The Ladder" were good songs that he made great...so expected this to be the same. But yeah, he's evolving even more.
As for the winning song, I think France has more of a shot than it. T&M doesn’t have as much jury appeal as fans think it does, and while it’s an amazing listening experience, it’s missing some oomph.
Agreed. It doesn't hit as hard as it needs to in order to be a top, top tier contender. I think it'll do well, but it's not in the running for me. France could be a huge hit with juries.

Ukraine never dissapoint wow like the NF was so strong !
Those are some nice ratings. Glad you enjoyed it.
Also, appreciating putting Palala and Lalala together. They sound like a pair of children's entertainers.
@kaleproject3495 yeah I really loved Vidbir this year !! They really put an amazing show !
I think that Teresa & Maria could get a solid result with a revamped and a good staging and I have full trust that Ukraine will deliver both of those things. It was the right choice.
I definitely think it was the right choice in terms of getting a good result. It's probably not the most interesting song for me personally, but it is definitely solid.
Where did you find de live peformance of the wildcards
If you go to the official Ukraine Eurovision page: www.youtube.com/@eurovisionukraine About 2 months ago, you'll find 4-5 minute interviews with each of the wild card acts.
During each one of these interviews, there's a small section that's a "live" performance of them on stage.
Glasss was my winner on the night. Being last in the juries was…something
It's one of those entires that runs that risk though. Juries can be scared of anything that's *that* different.
i was devastated when i saw it get last with jury, first points given and im already crying because my favourite got DEAD LAST with juries.
Unusual winner wow
I really hope everyone hasn't forgotten it. It really deserved to have pre-qualified for the final, at least.
i swear that song was better than every song that actually qualified except for glasss
