nice video John enjoyable to watch . I went fishing here in Ireland during the lockdown on the Shannon i would have gone mad if i couldnt have got out. Anyway i caught a few skimmers and 1 gorgeous bream around3-4 pound . But i was having alot of pike trouble as soon as i got the fish in to about 5 feet of my peg the pike kept steeling my fish and i lost 3 good cage feeders aswell. the crafty buggers got free meals. But on the other hand it was lovely to watch the pike jump out of the water as he took my fish ,if only i could have filmed it .
I know that feeling Robert, if you watch my other Aire and Calder videos, the pike keep nicking the fish there. I went back a couple of times and got my revenge. One of the pike had 3 match anglers hooklengths in its scissors.
I was going to fish up by the boats but it looked windy and quite busy with walkers and other anglers so opted for the narrows, do you mean in the other direction to the boat moorings ie. my side of the bridge?
The boat moorings are good , but if you go about 1/4 mile down stream it also widens out you can just about get parked. Fishing near that bridge never seemed to do as well for some reason.
that groundbait looked so good... i could have eaten it meself.. shame u didnt bag right up i was expecting a haul.... i do think in the summer months where theres a lot of natural food about...maybee maggots an casters are not so productive as say sweetcorn, meat or a banded pellet.. many a club match the venue wouldnt fish because of the sudden influx of noise-bait etc... and the feller using corn, bread, meat would catch 3 or 4 lumpy bream and win... whilst the rest of us sprayed hemp caster etc and done a LOT of swearing.... but thats why we LOVE it i suppose... good vid
It was the first session after lockdown, I was in such a hurry to bag up I just thought they'd have it but in hindsight I should have moved away from the narrows, the restriction makes the canal pull hard there when the locks open and presentation becomes difficult. Interesting thoughts on the noise bait, I'm definitely going to start carrying an emergency tin of corn in future 👍 Your comments are always appreciated, thanks for watching and keep well.

Hi John, I prefer the pegs further down where it widens out, had some good days there.

Nice one JM. Was there much ‘traffic’ ?
Boat traffic? No only 1 boat came through as I was packing up for the day. Next video is a pearler, been pellet wag fishing today and bagged up.
Yeah barges etc. PM me on work number. Look forward to your next vid pal 👍🏻👍🏻
