You have no idea how much this helps. I can build a bike from frame up but the derailleur setup always have me issues this makes it more clear and hopefully I can do it all myself now
Not all derailleurs are a like so occasionally one of them will give you issues. It’s just a matter of playing around with the tensioning and limiting screws. If all fails then it’s a bent or damaged derailleur in which we can easily miss because we get too caught up in the basics.
In my 6 years of tinkering with bikes, I was always afraid of messing with the derailleur, but a month ago, I finally learned how to adjust it, and it's actually really simple.
Nice to see Microshift Sword being deployed on new bikes; I'm anticipating your review! Also glad Poseidon now has stock thru axles & offering a JuinTech brake upgrade.
... although I wish the upgrade brakes being offered were the JuinTech GT-F (4-piston) calipers, instead of their F1 model. Oh well, still a decent upgrade.

great start to finish video! Just curious poseidon lists the weight of the bike at 24lbs with pedals in a size large, is that in line with what you're seeing out of the box?
For pedals, all you have to remember is “Back-Off” on both sides to get them off (and by that thought “forward -on” to put them on). Screw spindle of correct side pedal forward turn to get pedal on, screw backwards to get off.
Thanks for the video, I'm nearly ready to ride. However, when I'm in my smaller chainring, the chain itself is super loose, like resting on the chainstay. I'm able to pedal the bike and shift through the gears. Is there an adjustment I need to make on the rear derailuer to tighten everything up? If I push it manually down and back it seems like that's where it should be.
Sounds like the rear derailleur spring isn’t fully retracting. Can you verify if the clutch knob is fully turned to either side and not stuck halfway between settings?
@@TheBikeSauce at 4:13 when you show the tab on the inside of the derailluer... That was like rotated 270 degrees around. So I took it off, spun it into the right place, and then I was good to go. Thank you!
For the brake adjustment, isn't it a good method to loosen the callipers a bit, then pull on the brake lever, and then tighten the bolts back up? This is what i did so far, and don't see any fault in the method as an amateur, but it's the second video these days that i see where a light background and eyeballing it is used.
that method works well in principle, but there's often too much friction between the mounting faces to truly pull the calipers center. Especially on hydro systems where the pad gaps are so small. Some find that it works well, but I always prefer a more surgical approach and I like to see the gap on either side.
Sorry if I missed in the video, but which size did you get and what are your measurements. New to biking and unsure if I go Large or XL. I am 6' with a 32" inseam. In the past I did have a triathlon bike (2015 Felt B16 size 56cm FWIW). Anyone have thoughts or suggestions on Triton sizing for me?
I will be anticipating your review on the new triton because it is far from a road bike compared to its old version. Poseidon is appealing too much to the “gravel” cyclists. Not everyone lives on the western or eastern coasts by the mountains and yet alone want to go off road. The new triton is a more of a CX (cross-country/cyclocross) style bike in my opinion. Not much of a difference between their other line up of bikes if they all advertise “gravel” and “off road”. The X is still the better of the bunch as it has the potential for a 2x drivetrain if not mistaken it has a slot for cable housing on the drive side. Unless it was intended for a dropper post but could be wrong.
Valid observations. Certainly an evolution, but it’s still a road bike. First thoughts are that it appeals to entry to intermediate level riders who aren’t all about aggressive aero geometry. It’s a great platform to get into road cycling on a budget

Super helpful, thank you 🙏 For anyone else who struggled with brake alignment, I found this method much more straightforward: ua-cam.com/video/NmqGeLNcVIg/v-deo.html Also: I accidentally pulled the crimp off of my front derailleur cable while trying to get rid of some more chain rubbing 😓 I'll need to get a new crimp, but for awareness the cable frays easily and it's important to address. Finally buckled up and went for this one.. just took it around the block a couple times to bed the brakes.. learned a lot today - feels great to ride again. Thanks again!
I think you’re not supposed to grease the centerlock rotors/spline. I’m no expert but I just happened to watch the park tool video discussing this last weekend 😂. I believe the sram manual also didn’t mention greasing them in the install instructions.
Tiny bit of grease makes anything come off easier next time. But maybe they’re concerned will contaminate the rotor, so to be on safe side they say don’t put any on ?
@@OutThere42 yeah, I think it’s just to avoid possible contamination. Seems very possible it’s not an issue with a really light amount as he mentioned in the video, but figured I’d just mention they claim it’s not required (or recommended) in this case. 🤷🏻♂️
